History

Established in 2006.

The Mynt, Indian Restaurant was established in the year 2006, in San Jose at the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road.

Founders Ram Ramgiri, Krishna Katikaneni, and Uday Gurram grew up as childhood friends in the south Indian city of Hyderabad. The city of Hyderabad, famous for its minarets and exquisite pearls, has a unique cultural and culinary heritage. Hyderabad’s dedication to fine dining has been unwavering for many centuries, and the people are famed for their sumptuous feasts. Growing up against this background — tasting and appreciating delicacies that are rich in flavor, texture, and aroma, the threesome was destined to be in the restaurant business.

Meet the Business Owner

Ram R.

Business Owner

Founding and managing partner, Ram Ramgiri was born and raised in the city of Hyderabad, India. He earned his M. S in mechanical engineering from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Having grown up in Hyderabad, famous for its unique cultural and culinary heritage, Ram’s fondness for cooking and food comes as no surprise. During his 20 years of corporate experience, Ram always knew that he was destined for the restaurant business. His passion for food, friends, and people ultimately laid the foundation for «The Mynt»!

Ram applies his corporate and customer facing skills to redefine the Indian fine dining experience. He strongly believes that Indian food has been misrepresented and stereotyped by unimaginative Bay Area Indian restaurants as «big buffets», «curry», and «spicy». Authentic Indian food is distinguished by its sophisticated use of spices and cooking techniques. Every region of India has its own unique cuisine, and Ram’s goal is to showcase this diversity via «The Mynt».
