I believe in my case he was a push over, incompetent attorney which resulted that my case had zero success and caused me pain and damage. He said he was going to get me at least $ 40,000 and increase of spousal support…
After one month he advised me to tell the judge that I was incompetent, which would have hurt my case, completely untrue.
He screamed at me until I cried. One week after I let him go he refused to return any of my court files and threatened me with the police. My first impression of him was that he was a sweet teddy bear only to turn into a grizzly bear towards me.
My wishes are coming true my trial attorney was DISBARRED.

Current Status: Disbarred. The Law Offices of Hugh Thomson can’t correct my case. He was my attorney from November to June but in my opinion owned me about $ 88 000 of damages.

I highly recommend Hugh Thompson for a family attorney. He worked to settle my case fairly and efficiently without creating controversy to increase his billings or «nickel and diming» me (unlike the opposing attorney). While Hugh’s bill rate was higher, his total bill was less than 25% of opposing counsel’s. In the end, I ended up with a fair settlement giving me everything I deserved. Thank you Hugh; you’re the best!

Mr. Thomson is like the sweetest grandpa who also happen to be a very knowledgeable attorney :-). I called him to schedule an initial consultation, and told him about my situation where my ex is covering up a large portion of his income working for a small Italian construction company on the East Coast, and that the owner of that company is my ex’s best friend. Even though it is obviously ridiculous that my ex’s salary has gone down from $ 60,000/ year in 2002 to $ 38,000/year in 2013 working for the same company, instead of trying to get me in to make money regardless of the outcome of the case, Mr. Thomson was, just like a kind and knowledgable grandpa, advised me that it would be very costly to hire a lawyer in PA to obtain the documents from my ex’s company, and that they can lie in the documents as well. So I might be as well bite my tongue and pay my ex child support, because that is less costly than trying to uncover my ex’s hidden income. I agree with another reviewer here that Mr. Thomson is really a good man.

Hugh will not take on a case unless it fits his very strong background and legal profile. I came to Hugh after an initial bad experience with another lawyer. This other lawyer was less expensive per hour but was nickel and diming me like crazy; $ 50 for a phone call, $ 50 for an email, $ 50 to use a credit card, etc. Hugh Thompson – while costing a bit more per hour – never charged me one penny for brief phone calls and emails. Hugh did a fantastic job listening to my wishes and executing on them. The whole divorce was about 8 months total. Hugh is very savvy, fair-​minded and a good man. I highly recommend Hugh Thomson for anyone considering divorce or currently in a divorce where you’re not sure you trust your lawyer has you best interests at heart.

I had a very good experience working with Hugh Thomson for marital property issues. He charges reasonable rates, doesn’t waste his clients’ money, is knowledgeable and strategic, and argues his own appeals and has a good record for winning them (I understand this is rare among family law attorneys). He errs on the side of discouraging his clients from litigating, and encouraging settlements, and that is a good thing in my book.
