The Carlyle

The apartments are to expensive. The parking is hard to find sometimes. Worst of all they don’t give you any money back from your deposit. We are a middle aged couple and we lived there for a few months. We were charged 300 dollars by the greedy management for painting. We did not put up anything on the walls during our stay. We did not trash the apartment either. The paint work was left just as we found it. They only care about making a profit. Albert asked for a review and now he has one. A really disappointing exit. Nice to your face but in reality a greedy lot of employees.

You would be better off living under a bridge downtown. Horrible money hungry people who care nothing about their tenants. They lie to your face. Pretend to be understanding and act like they are working with you then stab you in the back. Live anywhere else! Literally, anywhere! You will regret it. And they completely ignore occupancy laws allowing more than the legal limit to cram into their unpleasant apartments and then charge a soul to keep the place. Lazy, hateful, deceptive.

Property Manager is full of excuses. I have been here for a few years, and the last year or so this place has really gone to seed. The current Property Manager is so concerned with her bottom line that she fails to remember that there are actually people who live here. As of today the Santa Clara County Health Department has closed the swimming pool and spa due to unsanitary health conditions. Our recreation room used to be available until 10PM for functions. Now you can only use it until 6PM. We used to have on-​site maintenance people who actually lived in the complex and were available to assist at any time. She got rid of them. We used to have community functions and resident activities. Since she came in here we have had nothing. The resident life experience has diminished to the point to where it is non-​existent. What used to be a thriving residential community is now nothing more than an over-​priced apartment complex. Any time we have brought challenges to the current manager they have been met with an excuse. She can not give you a proper answer, only an excuse (they were lying is one of her favorites)
The apartment homes themselves are lovely. High ceilings, nice paint, decent kitchens… Parking however is always a problem. There are more cars parked in the uncovered spaces than in the carports. Our Security team must be staffed by ninjas because we never see them anywhere. Weekends have become extremely loud, with loud hollering, and music to be heard complex-​wide at times. We originally moved here because we thought it was a safe, and enjoyable place to live. And for many years it was. It is sad to see how far it has gone down the tubes. We recently renewed our lease, but if conditions will not improve we will be exploring other housing options when it comes time for renewal again. All we have seen is a diminished level of service, and amenities all the while we are paying premium rent for this area (as well as 10% annual rent increases). I hope they clean up their act.

Warning! ! Do not lease the apartment here! It’s a nightmare. No parking even though you’re a resident here. Cars get broken into. Bad attitude office personnel by the name of Lorena. She’s the property manager there. They have a be back sign, was not on time and didn’t even come back more than hour. Didn’t even apologize! Had a deep cleaning for my apartment and still they will charge me for another one! What kind of business is this? ! People will be smoking weed around the complex.

Worst complex ever. Far to expensive for the area and amount of crime within the gated complex. Garages get broken into constantly, they open by themselves and don’t close right. Staff is NEVER in the office and rarely do their job unless you owe them 5 cents. If your car has dirt on it they tow it. If you do anything wrong they tow your car. If your car has all the right tags and registration, they tow it anyways.
I will not renew my lease and when I see someone parked out front attempting to get information on living here I tell them to leave. Do not be fooled by the pictures, this place is a poorly maintained pile of crap.

This is THE best place EVER… the staff is WONDERFUL… Elena has been one of the best Managers here… I’ve never met a more positive, hard working, very much involved person in my life… every time I ask for anything to get done… it gets done… Richard…the Maintenance Man… gets rave reviews also… he knows how to fix EVERYTHING. …and when Elena isn’t here you can ALWAYS depend on Cecilia… she is SUPER too… and last but definitely not least Elenas’ protégé and Newest members of our Carlyle family Lorraina (hope I spelled it right) she’s already on top of things here. I’ve been living here for about 4 yrs now and loved every moment of it… absolutely heaven on earth

I can not say enough about the staff at the Carlyle, from the Property manager Elena, to the maintenance tech Richard, they are an outstanding, and very professional team. My wife and 2 girls stayed there for 3 years, and in that time, when we had issues, both Richard or Elena would make sure it was taken care of with in 24 hours. If it wasnt for the area increase, we would have most defiantly re-​newed our lease. The property is a great place to raise a family, it is conveniently located in the Evergreen area, close to shopping, and easy access to the 101. The pool is clean and well maintained, they even have a office area you can reserve for baby showers, meeting, book clubs.etc. I would highly recommend anyone to move into the Carlyle.

I just moved in one of apartment. I have to say apartments are spacious, high ceiling, lot of cabinet space. Complex is really clean and well maintained. They have security people taking round in night time as well. Elena (manager) and leasing assistant both are really helpful; answer all my question and concerns. They both are really sweet person and always on top of tenants needs. Parking is not an issue; I am assigned a spot right down the stairs that make things easily especially if I have carry stuff to the apartment from car. They have open spots for extra car. This is small complex and people are really nice. I feel very safe. This apartment give me very warm and homely feeling.

Adding to my review below. Pool is clean. I live near the pool. They power wash the chairs and do a thorough job cleaning the pool area. Yes it gets crowded when it hot out, duh. (Typical with any pool in hot weather)
If a person has diarrhea and goes swimming, it can be contagious. Again, that can happen anywhere. I wanted to note that I was swimming with my daughter and there was a tennant or tennant friend smoking in the pool area. Within a matter of minutes the manager came out and talked to the smoking resident and out it went. You get what you pay for people. My family and I love our home and our community.

First off let me say I have lived here for the past 8 years and and love this complex! Although the rent is a bit pricy, you are paying for the amenities that come with it (24 hr security, pool, fitness center, washer and dryer in unit, club house, and gated). The manager and leasing assistant are both very nice and always available to answer any questions. I can honestly say that they are much better then the last ones we have gone through. Elena is very sweet and takes care of any problems you may have! In regards to a comment I read on the pool being very nasty, I can say that Is FAR from the truth. A pool man comes every Tuesday and cleans it out and actually they close the entire pool for the rest of the day just to make sure the new chlorine and everything kicks in. (I know this because I am usually working out in the gym and see when he comes. They also have landscaping people who come every Monday and Thursday mornings to make sure the place looks presentable, and they also power wash down the apartments. If you are looking for a nice apartment with great staff, and a warm home feeling the Carlyle is the right place.

as a visitor, i swam in their pool and got a raging fever complete with hallucinations and chills/​sweats. probably because everyone took their kids to the pool that day and the people are so stupid that they didn’t think taking a sick kid to the pool is a terrible idea. the pool is usually dirty and my friend who’s a resident claims she’s hardly ever seen them clean it. i’m probably never going near this pool again after being so terribly sick.

The staff at the Carlyle have been awesome. Cecilia Brown-​Acevedo has been very good to me and has helped me with moving into my apartment. She has assisted me whenever I have had questions about leasing my apartment. If I have a work order, the problem gets fixed right away. The maintenance staff has also been awesome. I enjoy living here and they have made my first living experience in San Jose the best! I love living here and I am very comfortable being here. Thank you Carlyle Staff! Cecilia, you are the best!

BE WARNED — This place has the worst management I’ve ever had the displeasure to have to deal with. The apartments are fine but that’s it. The property manager Rhea is completely rude every time I speak with her. She will run circles around you if you need her to do anything. The mgmt takes months to fix things and that is only after going in in person every week to ask. The utilities are handled through a 3^rd part AUM which is also awful. They charge $ 8 to make a credit card payment and they don’t answer the phone. Also, the office will sometimes intercept packages and keep them in the office and not tell you they have your stuff. Latest story: AUM lost my payment so the Carlyle sent me a bill threatening to evict me if I dont pay up. THIS IS AFTER I already spoke with the management twice about AUM losing my payment and was assured that they would handle it. Get everything in writing from this place and expect a hassle.

beware people, stay away from this place. noise, vandal on ur car, and plus they’ll rip u off when u move out, meaning don’t ever expect ur deposit to b return even ur apt is in perfect shape.
