It is our personal goal to provide our clients with fresh meals you wont believe at a reasonable price. Established in 1989.

Our style has evolved over time from Robert’s father’s backyard BBQs and his early recipes, lending itself deeper into California Cuisine and combining many seasonal and regional ingredients cooked fresh, before your eyes.

This is NOT Texas BBQ, but rather what we like to call California grilling; a blend of ethnicities and flavors — fun, fresh and innovative! You will be pleased by the presentation and even more impressed by the taste.

We take our food seriously. We have created all our own sauces, marinades, dressings, innovative salads, sausages and much more. These recipes combined with fresh quality ingredients set us apart. Our knowledgeable staff has served everyone from hungry Giant’s tailgating fans to wine country connoisseurs. Robert P.

Business Owner

Born in California, Bob received his B.A. from San Jose State University in Business Finance. At 21, his sisters introduced him to the Napa Valley Wine Country. This started his love for good food and fine wines that compliment one another.

Bob entered the business world by developing many innovative food products in the mid 1980’s while in sales and product development for a national spice company. Robert founded The BBQ Boys in 1989. A self taught chef, Robert has used most of his travels of the world, experiences, and intuition in creating more than 800 flavorful recipes under the BBQ Boys venue.

His 25 years of experiences and 8500 successful events insure your complete satisfaction for your event.

BBQ boys was the caterer for my daughter’s first bday party! They surely did an amazing job. The guests loved the food! We got the bbq chicken and tri-tip, and they were superb! Liana provided great customer service from inquiry to booking. Tony and staff provided an awesome job setting-up, and making sure the food trays were always full. I will definitely book them again for another event. Thumbs up!

Had an event yesterday for around 150 people for work and as usual the BBQ Boys worked their magic. Food (both quality & quantity) was excellent, as well as the service.
Liana, the event coordinator made sure that all my requests were met and pulled a rabbit out of the hat, when I messed up and didn’t get back to her timely with my confirmation.
Dan and his team, who were in charge of the cooking were prompt, courteous and helpful. They even loaned us one of their carts to transport are games.
This is about the 5^th time I have used them over the years and they have yet to disappoint. I have no desire to try someone new, when I know that I will get the best from them.

We had Dan and his team from the BBQ Boys out to cater a work event for 50 yesterday. This is our third year using them for our Summer event. The food was nothing short of fabulous. I love how they bring out smaller portions of the cold food so that the 30^th person in line gets a cool fresh helping just like the first. The meat and chicken were perfect and I have no idea what goes into those beans but everyone loved them. We couldn’t be happier and look forward to next years event with the BBQ Boys.

I used BBQ Boys to cater my wedding in Gilroy in April for 60 people. Everything turned out fantastically, I couldn’t be happier. Liana, the event coordinator, was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. I did all of my wedding planning myself, so having vendors that were organized definitely helped me out.
The food was excellent — we went with tri tip, chicken, asparagus and the bacon chive mashed potatoes (those were the best)! The beans were a bit average, but hard to make beans too exciting.
I was a bit nervous as I never was able to work in a tasting before the wedding. Based on other Unilocal reviews and my interactions with Liana, I decided to move forward anyway. Bob, the owner, was even able to do a site visit a few days in advance, which put my mind at ease even more.
I highly recommend BBQ Boys!

I hired the BBQ Boys to cater my husband’s surprise 50^th birthday party last weekend and I couldn’t have been happier with their service or their AMAZING food. They helped me figure out all the details of how to best arrange food service at the event, the staff onsite during the party went out of their way to ensure our guests were happy, and all 100 attendees it seemed made a point to rave to me about the food. You can’t go wrong with these guys! They are pros.

Let me start by saying AMAZING!!! We used the BBQ Boys for a backyard wedding celebration on August 2^nd and we couldn’t be happier. From the first discussion, through the planning process to the actual event, the BBQ Boys surpassed all our expectations. Christina who helped with planning was an absolute pleasure to work with. Answered every question and was very flexible with requests. BBQ Bob and team did an outstanding job. Rave reviews from all of our guests — some of which are serious BBQers. We started with two appetizers — quesadillas & sausage. They went fast because there were so good. For the main dishes we had Tri Tip and Huli Huli Chicken — both outstanding. For sides we had green salad, niblet corn, orzo salad, ranch beans and garlic bread. All fantastic. Standout was the corn and garlic bread. Luckily we had some left overs that we got to enjoy the next day. I can’t say enough great things about the food and the people of BBQ Boys. BBQ Boys catered our wedding for us this past May, and they were AMAZING! When planing for our wedding I had initially found another bbq caterer and thought I was all set. However when we did the tasting with the other caterer we were so disappointing with the quality of the food that we knew we had to look elsewhere.
This is when I found BBQ Boys. As soon as I contacted BBQ Boys they scheduled for my husband and I to come do a tasting within the week. We were blown away by the quality of the food! The whole time we were planning the wedding we had planned on having tri tip as the main dish. BBQ Boys Tri Tip is great, but their bbq chicken is AMAZING. We were very impressed with the taste and quality of the side dishes as well. Another thing that I was really impressed with BBQ Boys is that for the same price as everywhere else I had looked, they included 2x the side dishes (I think it was 5 side dishes).
So now that we had found a caterer that we liked, it was time to discuss what we wanted for our wedding. I was very impressed that rather than just having me call the office and tell them what we wanted, the owner schedule a time to meet with me and get all the details himself.
On the day of our wedding, BBQ Boys were great! The food not only was as amazing as we remembered, but the presentation was beautiful. BBQ Boys did not give me one reason to stress on my big day.
We had a cousin and a family friend both get married within a few weeks of our wedding; and people from both weddings came to us and said how much better the food we had at our wedding was. Even the mother of the bride from one of the wedding said how much better BBQ Boys was than the caterer they used.
If you are looking for a great caterer with amazing food and outstanding service, BBQ Boys is definitely someone you should call.

This is a 4.5 Star review, but Unilocal won’t let you do halves ;)
The owner/BBQ master Bob is absolutely delightful. He was helpful with picking the right menu, making suggestions about beer/wine and how to set things up, he recommended ways we could do things cheaper than through them (buy sodas ourselves, etc.).
I love that all of the sides are vegetarian — no muss no fuss with trying to figure out does this, that, or the other have bacon in it, etc. Also, when you pick your protein, there is a whole standard slate of sides that come with — and they are generous. Corn, salad, garlic bread, ranch beans, potato salad, watermelon — all delicious and fresh and awesome. They were also happy to have a dozen or so garden burgers on hand for the vegetarians
We got tri-tip and sausages, and we are still getting compliments on both. We also had some leftovers that were great! The price was very reasonoable and the portions generous. It was also fun to have Bob on-site cooking for us.
We had paid for an extra serve to stick around and help serve cake/tidy up — that was great, affordable, and a really nice thing to have.
I took off a ½ star because we had a snafu with the permitting at the park that would allow them to park the truck and use the access road. I really did not enjoy wondering about it 2 days before the wedding. Of course, it all worked out just fine, but I wish it had been ironed out a bit sooner is all.
I would definitley use them again if I had a big event to cater — good food, amazingly friendly people, and a very positive experience.

BBQ Boys catered the main meal for our company employee appreciation event for 300+. They were very willing to tailor their menu to fit our Hawaiian-theme event and were open to menu modifications so we didn’t kill our budget.
They arrived at the location on-time, and food service started according to plan. Chicken, sausages, salad, beans and corn in a self-serve buffet, and kept available for people wanting seconds. They even transported the excess to City Team Ministries.
Feedback both during and after the event from multiple employees was very positive about the variety and quality. Thank you for the great food and service.

We had the BBQ Boys cater our wedding two weeks ago, and we definitely made the right choice! Their food is delicious, and they are great to work with.
The only thing that my husband cared about for our wedding was the food; he wanted BBQ done on-site.
I wasn’t in the area before the wedding, so I wasn’t able to do a tasting, but just from looking at their website, reading their reviews, and being in contact with Bob by email, I thought that they were the ones. Once my mom and my mother-in-law went and did a tasting, our decision was finalized. They said that appetizers were awesome, and the chicken and salmon were the best they had ever tasted!
Bob went out to our remote location (Ben Lomond Quaker Center up in the Santa Cruz Mountains) to verify that they would be able to fit the truck and grill up the narrow, windy road/driveway. Once we knew it was possible, we worked with them to create the perfect menu for our event. I couldn’t wait to taste it all!
Day-of, they arrived with plenty of time, set up their truck, and got to work. They were entirely independent, allowing me to have a stress-free day. When we came back down from the wedding ceremony, I got to taste the amazing appetizers (potato skins, shrimp tostadas, bruschetta, grilled veggies) while I was drinking champagne and chatting with everyone. Once dinner was ready, we went inside for the amazing buffet. I was too busy to eat much at the time (but I did notice that what I had was freakin’ delicious!) but I sure enjoyed the leftovers once we got to the hotel! The ribs and salmon were SO good, and the garlic bread, salad, and corn were fabulous as well. I didn’t end up trying the chicken, but everyone said it was amazing, and nothing like normal ‘wedding chicken.’ At the hotel afterwards, as we enjoyed a box of leftovers as newlyweds, I was wishing we had brought more ribs, salmon, and garlic bread! Mmmmm. Everyone at the wedding kept commenting on how amazing the food was, and many people went back for seconds (or thirds?)
I am SO glad that we chose the BBQ Boys to cater our wedding, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for delicious, fresh BBQ catering in the Bay Area!

BBQ Boys catered my wedding. I still get compliments on the food at my wedding… a year later! The food and the photo booth were my guests favorite things.
They were really organized and dealt with me with patience. I made changes to the menu and rental equipment along the way and the rolled with it. I loved that they offered rental equipment (linens, place settings, chairs, tables, etc etc). It made one less stop and vendor for me.
The BBQ Boys bbqed everything fresh on location and my guests loved that. The sides were delicious and nothing was low quality.
Next time I need a caterer there’s no question I’ll use the BBQ Boys. I know my recommendations of the BBQ Boys have been used by friends and others are looking for an excuse the eat their tasty food again!

The BBQ Boys cater many of our corporate events each year and I tired of their menu pretty quickly. A lot of the food is pretty tasteless and disappointing, specially the beans.
I would recommend Armadillo Willy’s. Honestly, it’s 10 times better…

BBQ Boys catered an outdoor picnic in the park for 300 people. Barbequed chicken and pork ribs (hamburgers and hot dogs for the children) and a few veggie burgers. They set up and maintained the buffet table for a 2 hour serving window.
We selected BBQ boys because they cook the food fresh at the picnic site (which is rarer than you might think) and because of their positive business/corporate reviews. We were under tremendous personal pressure to produce a successful event and we didn’t want to fuss with the barbeque– which in my opinion– is the cornerstone of an outdoor picnic.
We selected two of the most difficult food items to barbeque successfully– which are chicken and ribs.
What can I say? BBQ boys is a fine-tuned, smooth running, well-oiled barbeque catering machine! And my people should know because we just happen to be mechanics, electronic technicians, maintenance workers, etc.
They arrived with a 4 person team, and cooked the meat fresh at the site.
People raved about the ribs which were tender and lean with just enough charcoal grilled fat to keep things honest. The mesquite chicken (we had a mix of light and dark meat) was smoked to perfection and was moist and tender. The one vegetarian (in our group) that I spoke to– enjoyed the veggie burger and beans.
We selected 3 side dishes, potato salad, tossed green salad, and vegetarian ranch beans. The feedback was good for all the side dishes. They also provided watermelon (what is a barbeque without watermelon?) and all the necessary condiments, etc.
Everybody was satisfied and happy. We had several VIPs (politicians) that attended our event, and they seemed to enjoy themselves and they seemed to linger longer than they normally would (which I think is a positive?)
Thank you BBQ boys for being the professionals that you are and for helping us to produce a successful family event that we can all be proud of.

I’m so glad it was a buffet because I definitely wanted seconds! The BBQ boys recently catered a breakfast brunch at my office and I had to admit I was really amazed on how well the set up was.

My co-worker decided to throw a game day for our department.
All I could think about was… ohhh no… not another department event where the food sucks and aren’t complimentary for a vegetarian.
BBQ Boys was the caterer she told me. Hmm… I know my company uses them all the time, I just know I’ve never eaten it!!!
Wow…all I have to say is, their veggie burger was on POINT!!!

And OMG… where did you get those tomatoes from yo??? They were sooooooo sweet and succulent.
We’re not even gonna talk about the potato salad!!! Are you sure my momma isn’t in the your kitchen because this sure does taste like home cooking!!!

My employer uses this catering company annually. The food is pretty good for the most part, and the service is typically courteous.
My company orders Santa Maria tri-tip sirloin, BBQ chicken breasts (not sure which or their two types), and mesquite grilled garden burgers. I’ve only had the tri-tip, which is so-so. Not particularly tender or moist, but flavorful enough. Mixed in with the tri-tip are strips of bell pepper and onion. (In previous years, we’ve had a different tri-tip, slathered in BBQ sauce. About the same in terms of quality.) Portion size is somewhat disappointing… two to four slices of tri-tip, or one smallish chicken breast, or one vegetarian burger. A self-serve buffet line would change my tune on this.
For sides, my company orders peanut cole slaw (meh), green salad with croutons and Ranch dressing (so-so), potato salad (meh), yellow corn niblets (so-so), baked beans (fantastic), garlic bread (good), and fresh sliced watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew (good). The baked beans are kind of a tangy sweet… there’s actually diced apple in the baked beans. Beautifully done, easily outshining the other sides and the mediocre tri-tip.
At least the sides are self-serve, so I can load up to compensate for the small meat portions. More baked beans? Don’t mind if I do.
The prices listed on the website menu aren’t terrible (about $ 20 per person, maybe more with sides?). Still, for $ 20, I think you could give me more than four slices of tri-tip. Or let me have more than one can of soda. Please?

We were served food from the BBQ Boys at a birthday party. Menu included:
Fresh tossed salad — this wasn’t bad.
Southern Peanut Coleslaw — Didn’t have this so I can’t comment on it.
BBQ Chicken Breast with their special sauce — Chicken was ok but as I was cutting it up for the Kid, I noticed that the closer you get to the bone, the bloodier that piece of chicken was. It was like that on all of ours! Really, if you can’t grill chicken right, then you should think about serving thinner portions. I’m knocking off a star for the attempted food poisoning.
Grilled corn niblets — this was delish! The corn was tossed with bell peppers and onions. Way better than corn on a cob!
Grilled tri tip — Tri tip was done right (thankfully!). Nice and tender. As an aside, I’m not bowled over with their «special» sauce. Nothing special there.
Chili — Didn’t eat it but DH said it was on the spicy side.
Garlic Bread — God they must have done this the day before cuz all the pieces came out rock hard! I’ve had better garlic bread at italian restaurants.
They also served veggie burgers but for some reason, those were not left out with the other food. Go figure.
Overall it’s not bad but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan.
