Not quite as good as Cam Hung(best in the Bay Area) but much closer to my house and very good nonetheless. I like that they fry the egg up to order when ordering the egg and sausage banh mi. I also like that they put stickers with the coordinating number and sandwich type as I order 3 – 4 each time for family members. A lot easier then trying to figure out which goes where. Bread is the star with their pâté being my next favorite thing.

The cashier was very friendly. Decent place to get banh my if you don’t want to go through the hassle getting to Grand Century Mall area.

Cash only! Always come here to get my Vietnamese sandwich fix! I always used to go to Lee’s sandwiches and now I see why people aren’t a huge fan of it lol. This place is a 5 min walk from my house so that’s always a bonus. The serving sizes are huge and super filling! Everything’s fresh!

My husband and I were craving banh mi, having not eaten it in a while. There’s not much to choose from around San Mateo or Mountain View so when we happened to be at the Great Mall I decided to see if there was anything good around there. Unilocal didn’t lead us astray! The ordering is a little confusing with multiple counters(a separate one for banh mi towards the back right. I wasn’t sure if we could walk back there because it looks like it was behind an employee only area(but I tend to be paranoid about not walking in the wrong area than most people). But, back to food. The spring rolls and BBQ pork with pâté sandwiches we got were really good! The pickled veggies were delicious and the meat was good. Will definitely go there again.

My mom and I dropped by to buy some cha hue and Cha lua! I used to come here for the banh mi but in the past few years, the quality has dropped so I go to Phat Tri instead. They have a lot of pre-made hot foods from party foods such as banh beo, bun thit nuon and more! On the other side, they also have more prepared hot foods like food to go for family dinners or just when you’re too lazy to make it yourself. I don’t come here frequently, only when I need to.

Best banh mi sandwiches in this neighborhood and will concur with the Unilocal reviewers on this one. I usually get the chicken with pâté, bread is warm and crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside… yum! This is a weird observation, but their sandwich counter is so wide, it feels like you’re playing air hockey when you’re giving them money; it’s literally 5 feet wide lol.

An awesome Vietnamese fast food joint! My family and I enjoy their nem(cured pork), baguettes, che and deli foodies. Super friendly employees. There’s also Buddhist CDs if you’re feeling Buddhist today!

Banh mi sammies are great here. I usually get the ham and pâté and the hubs will get the grilled pork. Well balanced, fresh veggies, lean grilled pork, and crispy/fluffy bread. I’ll have to come back and try the other offerings at this place.

I drank half of my coffee this morning until I almost swallow up a roach. I thought it was weird that there’s something chewy in my coffee. I decided to spit it out and saw a roach! Ewwwww so gross! I just wanna throw up right now. I decided not to eat their sandwiches /food too. I threw everything out! Be careful! I’m reporting them to the health department!

This place has my favorite banh mi in all of the Bay Area since I was 8 or 9 years old! Their pâté is perfectly spiced and the mayo is delicious! Although the prices have risen a lot, they’re still worth the occasional splurge. The only criticism I have is the bread which is a hit or miss. Sometimes, they may be too hard and crusty and chafe my mouth, but other times they are perfectly crunchy! My favorites are the grilled pork and the combination of the hams. Not a huge fan of the lunchbox items though.

The parking here is terrible. Getting in or getting out is really bad. The restaurant is a good size though and the service was really fast. Thermal The price is really cheap for a sandwich but do not leave them out because they do go bad really fast. I order two of the combination and they were good and filling for the size. So I am not a fan of sandwiches because the bread is so hard so if you are like me I do not recommend this place otherwise I think the place was alright and probably will not come back just because of the parking.

Sandwiches: bread doesnt cut you your gums the bread was not too thick, so there was room in the roll for filling meat is tasty veggies had a snap to them savory pâté and affordable also hot and crispy egg rolls only reason why i couldnt give them 5 stars was that the server who made my sandwich used the same gloves to take my money… or vice versa

One week, it’s my favorite banh mi sandwich in the entire Bay Area. The next, it drops to second favorite behind Saigon Sandwich. And that’s as low as it drops. They are rock solid in their consistency and quality over here. Good flavor from their fantastic pâté here and everything just pairs so well in their #2 combo sandwich(thit nguoi: ham, pat & steamed pork roll). The bread has been near perfect on every visit here except one time later in the afternoon. Tried other sandwiches on my first visit here, but ever since I took a bite of their thit nguoi, I can’t be an asshole to my tummy and order anything else. The sandwich oozes comfort. Haven’t tried their other locations, but this one is strong enough that I feel like I’m doing something dirty when I grab a banh mi from somewhere else in the south bay. Nobody said being loyal was easy. But it’s worth it.

Maybe it’s because I’m Vietnamese but the ladies here were very nice to me. :) The sandwiches are decently priced(I always get #1& #2) and they have a good variety of vietnamese desserts! Their che thai was pretty decent — would prefer lychee in it though! My friends really enjoyed the place, they said they would come back again. Very casual place with plenty of seating and a decent sized parking lot located next to Phở Kim Long. I would definitely come again!

This review is strictly for the banh mi sandwiches. I recently have discovered that the South Bay has a lot Vietnamese delis serving fresh banh mis. This one is particularly close to the popular phở restaurant: Phở Kim Long. What is nice about Thanh Huong is how spacious the deli is and what they have to offer. Asides from Vietnamese sandwiches, they also have a hot foods section as well as spring rolls, milk tea, Vietnamese desserts, etc. I find that this deli has a lot more tables than other locations so you can sit and have your lunch here. Now for the banh mis. The menu is much bigger than other places that I have been. They have a lot of different options as well as a lot of pâté. They have them labeled by numbers so it’s easy to order. The sandwiches come with mayo, cilantro and jalepenos, so if you don’t like any of those, make sure to ask to remove them. In comparison to other places, the sandwiches here are actually bigger. The bread is bigger and it’s not as toasted so it stays relatively soft. If you’ve ever bit into a banh mi that cuts up your mouth/gums, it won’t happen with these. I chose the steamed pork banh mi. I noticed that the bread was cut at an odd angle. The other four sandwiches we ordered for the sibling weren’t like that, so it’s a little inconsistent. There was a good amount filling and I like how the cilantro is fresh and the bite that the jalepeno brings. The thing I did not like was how they spread the mayo. At some parts there are globs of mayo. I don’t know about you, but I prefer my mayo to be spread thin rather than eating little piles of it. I do appreciate the use of stickers to label your banh mis. Other places tend to use colored rubber bands, but it’s more convenient when there is a sticker telling you the specific kind of banh mi. Otherwise, you’d have to open every banh mi up to see which belongs to each person. The price depends on the kind of banh mi but they seem to be around $ 3.50−4. It’s pretty fair since one sandwich will fill you up. Service was very fast. We ordered and our sandwiches were made in less than 5 minutes. I have never had my order of banh mis made that fast. Overall, I would come back since it’s close by home.

GREATSANDWICHES: JUSTPROGRAMTHEGPS Based on recommendations from friends, we stopped by here on the way to the SJ Convention Center(relatively close by). Good thing I programmed this on the GPS and there is a bit of road construction going on. The food: We purchased everything to go and enjoyed them about an hour later. The banh mi is excellent. The grilled pork is excellent, sauce not over bearing, very tasty combination of ingredients and although the sandwiches were pre-wrapped, these were still very cripsy. We also purchased the egg rolls which were crunchy and not overly oily. The counter lady wasn’t very helpful so you’ll need to figure out what you want to try and just help yourself. Although this is not a deal-breaker, having some pleasent customer service is appreciated. The cash only policy is fine since the profit margin is very slim and it does support local independent business. Overall, this is a good go-to place and relatively close to the downtown area. I’m glad I got this programmed in the GPS as I’ll never find it on my own.

Great food and deal! what more can you ask for? Only have had their banh mi’s, but they are super good! Prices are now $ 3.75 for all sandwiches except for #1, grilled pork is $ 4. I personally like the grilled pork or chicken the best. My wife likes #16, shredded pork and skin. Like most banh mi places, their bread is a bit too crispy/crunchy for me because it cuts the inside ceiling of my mouth =[ But the bread still tastes wonderful and all the ingredients are tasty and fresh! One thing to note, they seem to put a little more mayo than most places, so maybe next I’ll ask them to put it on lightly. Their parking lot is a little small, but people are in and out quickly so I have not had a problem yet. My 2 sandwiches only took like 2 – 3 minutes to make! Also CASH only!

Super authentic Vietnamese food. I had pork and fish sandwiches. Both were very good. Also sesame rice balls, and something pork covered by rice jerry with leaves. People working there and all customers looked Vietnamese. Reasonable price.

I have been going here for over 20 years and the sandwiches still taste the same! This is my go to place when I have a craving for banh mi(vietnamese sandwich). I always order the number one which is the grilled pork sandwich. Never disappointed. Pork is always soft and flavorful. Veggies are abundant. Bread is super fresh, soft inside and just the right amount of crispiness on the outside. If you’re not in the mood for sandwiches they offer other hot and cold vietnamese dishes. Great place to go if you’re in a rush and on the go. Keep in mind it’s cash only. I noticed other Unilocalers complaining about the price hike, which sucks, but to be fair they have to keep up with rising overhead cost.

Banh mi here is ok-good, but it’s not life-changing. I always get the grilled pork banh mi(at any Viet sandwich shop), which contains pickled vegetables, jalapeño peppers, onions and grilled pork. They are not very consistent with the amount of ingredients. it’s either hit or miss! The tall lady with a charming smile makes the best banh mi but she’s hardly there. Go to Duc Huong Gio or Phat Tri to satisfy your banh mi cravings!
