Sunrise Eyewear & Optometric Center

I took my father here for his eye appointment earlier today, and they were really friendly and very professional. We are new patients, but the paperwork wasn’t too hefty. I’m coming back next week for my eye appointment!

I live in Oakland. They provide great services. The technician willingly offered to fix my old reading glasses. The location is very convenient location. I come here for the eye exam, later enjoy foods at several Vietnamese restaurants, then go shopping at Lion Supermarket.

I have been going here with my sister for years and I have never been disappointed with their service. I lost my last pair of contact lens yesterday. I did order from Costco, but my order won’t come for another 3 – 4 days. I am in desperate need of contact lens so I gave them a call. They told me to stop by to get the contact lens. I went there and I expected to pay, but they told me I do not need to pay. Everyone here are really nice and accommodating. I really do recommend going here if you want good service and quality!

Highly recommended. Unlike many other optometrists accepting VSP, they also take Medi-​cal — which is a plus for me. The staff and doctors are kind, happy, and professional. The office facilities are first-​rate. The prices are very reasonable, and they remember me every time I walk in. As another reviewer mentioned, they are located in a mostly Vietnamese shopping center, but I’ve never had any communication issues. The staff even informed me about the best times to call so I can speak to their better English-​speakers. This is a great choice for your eye care needs.

I’ve been a faithful patient of Sunrise Optometry for many, many years. I visit this place once a year to get my contacts & eyeglass prescription updated. I must say I’m not the most punctual person when it comes to annual exams cause i’ll come 4 – 6 months overdue but they still never make me feel guilty about it. =X
Staff is extremely nice. They tend to cater to the Vietnamese community but I’ve never had any problems when it came to communicating. The optician is friendly as always and gets me in, out and on my way. They have always been able to get me in as soon as possible. In fact, I called them right before they closed last night and was able to fit me in to get checked this morning!
Their eyeglass frame selection is VERY limited but I’ve found it a lot better to just find the frame elsewhere come in for them to place the prescription lenses. Most of the time I find the style/​frame that I want and just order it online then bring it in. You can find it to be A LOT cheaper that way, compared to buying it directly through an optometry.
Prices are reasonable. It cost me $ 54 to update my eyeglass prescription, $ 24 for my contact prescription (no change of brand/​type). To get eyeglasses updated, it would cost $ 50 for lenses and another $ 30 if i wanted thinner lenses. Not bad at all!
I must warn you though, this place is located in the heart of Lion Plaza, therefore beware of the crazy Asian drivers!

Eh, the optometrist is super friendly, but their frame selection is really bad.
I came here to get my prescription, but ended up going else where to pick up my frame.
I don’t think I will be back.
If you’re not picky, and want friendly, and fast service, drop by here :). If you’re picky about your frames (styles, brands), I highly suggest going to another optometry in the neighborhood. If you live in San Jose, there is probably an optometry on every other block, so no worries!
