I dont know what place the former reviews sent to, but it was most certainly not my family’s experience with Step Up Automotive on Lincoln. Maybe there is another Step Up, but my advice is Step Out before they rip you off. After getting a quote at the beginning for about $ 100.00 and coming back to pick up the car — we were told almost $ 500.00! There was never a call to us regarding a dramatic price increase from the original quote, just a shrug and «it took us more time than I thought».
This is no way to run a business and I suggest you stay away unless you don’t care about a surprise when you come back to pick up your car.

Professional, thorough and priceless bed side manner.
My Audi TT was due for a couple of serious jobs. Needed a timing belt change and to diagnose a hot coolant temperature problem. TTs have a notoriously tight engine compartment and very complicated electrical and cooling system so I was a little unsure about whether the work could be done at anywhere but Audi – without a bunch of trial and error on the part of the mechanic.
Despite my nervousness Step Up nailed the work. Dave the owner was constantly available by phone and in person during the entire time the car was with step up. He broke down the issues I was having into the simplest of terms, and through thorough and well researched processes quickly found that I needed both a new fan and thermo switch to address the hot coolant temperature issue. Him and his team (Evan worked on mine, very skilled, patient and thorough technician) found the cheapest and easiest way to address the change. They even cleaned out my heater core to ensure that I faced no issue with high pressure in the cooling system in the future.
The timing belt job was honestly the most impressive. Despite having never worked on a vehicle of my type (lots of VWs under their belt, very similar 1.8t engine style) Evan meticulously took apart my car with only the greatest of care. In addition to standard references, he utilized a host of online material and insider tips to make sure the job was done as to Audi spec as possible. They lined up all the timing markers and set torque perfectly. The car has never idled so smoothly.
It is important to note that somethings that make an excellent mechanic are not intuitive. But step up met all those demands. The car was constantly covered with mats protecting the fenders and front grill area from dents scratches and nicks from the extensive work. All the plastic coverings and ground protection were put on perfectly. No rattle, no lost plastic pieces or shotty non oem connections. They also detailed the car before returning it.
On top of that the owner Dave has some of the most reasonable bed side manner I’ve seen in a mechanic. He made sure to make clear that the work needed to be done, but that it also was not a big deal. Dave in no way tried to scare me into other unnecessary work, or in anyway kept information or ideas about the solutions to my cooling problem from me. He described his troubleshooting process in detail and gave status updates when appropriate. Being sick can suck, only gets worse when the doctor makes you feel more scared about the recovery than necessary!
Generally very pleased with the work and the customer service. Well equipped shop, reasonable and accurate quotes, and knowledgable staff. Get a quote, if your near by it would be stupid not to.

Step Up will do most any work on any car, can’t beat a one stop shop! Their services won’t break the bank plus Dave, owner, stands behind his work 100% Great dudes!

I took my car in again for some pretty big repairs and it still didn’t break the bank. My car is running good as new, no more check engine light and my gas mileage went up! So awesome when gas is so expensive!

i was referred to this shop by a friend, so i took my golf here for service. they did a great job — finished the job quickly and was much less expensive than quotes from the dealership or other shops.

Dave the owner and Evan the head mechanic are both great guys! the shop is very conveniently located and they have all the tools/​diagnostic equipment to do just about anything I would need. I definitely trust these guys with my cars and will keep coming back!
Pricing is amazing, they’re very honest and straight forward about it. They’re sincere and very organized. I am definitely a customer for life. They’ve already done a TON of work on one of my cars and I am very very satisfied. I will definitely be bringing my other car to them for all of the regular maintenance.
If you want to drop your vehicle off at a shop with guys who aren’t pushy, very trustworthy, easy to work with and reliable; this is the place to go!
