South Bay Culture Club Kickoff Event @ MACLA

Great CMYE Abby !!! I had a great time. When I arrived I was greeted by our Lovely South bay CM Abby. MACLA is a Nice, Bright, Intimate Venue. It had a lot of Original sketches, Cartoons, 3d Art work and Oil paintings.
My Favorites were the 3D Artwork.
Alder wood Winery provided Wine for people to enjoy and there were Cheese and Fruit Plates to Munch on.
It was a Nice, Social Group of Unilocalers. I enjoyed seeing the Usual Suspects and meeting New Faces.
It was a great way to Kick Off the Unilocal Culture Club Promotion and a great way to spend a lunch break.

Definitely a spot to hit during SOFA. It was a small intimate event. Thanks Abby for putting on the event and Alderbrook for the wines.

Another fun event where I get to unite with all the familiar faces of of the Unilocal Elite crowd (among others.)
I had never been to MACLA before so it was interesting to see all the graphics depicted from the Latino perspective.
I can see this place being a great resource for the Latino community and glad that San Jose has this place downtown.

AWESOME. I didn’t know that this little museum was even there so it was GREAT to be introduced to it.
It was even better to be there with so many friends. See some long time friends, meet some new ones! Yay. Add wine and cheese to that and I’m loving it.
We have such GREAT culture here in the Bay Area and I am ashamed that I don’t get out to see it. So I really, really, really appreciate Unilocal having this «Culture Club». Great idea.

I had a great time. Met lots of new people and talked about controversial comic art which were on the walls. Ahhh yes post Valentines day & kinky art. Definitely a winning combination: D

Wine, cheese and art — how classy are we? I love the Unilocal Culture Club promotion and this was a great way to get Unilocalers into the art groove. Thanks to the friendly MACLA crew for letting us enjoy their exhibits (and for their long-​standing contribution to the SJ arts) and to Alderwood for the wine and congeniality.
I love mingling with Unilocalers new and old — one of my favorite things about these events is how welcoming the group is to new faces (if you’re feeling shy about showing up at a Unilocal event, trust me — you’ll be chatted up and introduced to various groups in record time). This was a particularly good event mingle-​wise, as the space and crowd were both intimate enough to allow for thorough circulation.
Yay, culture!

A glass of wine or two and pairing it with art leads itself towards an enjoyable evening. It does get better when you meet the new CM, Abby S! I had the chance to meet a few Unilocalers and familiar faces too. It has been awhile since I’ve gone to an event. A night spent looking at 3D art and Alderbrook providing two choices of their Zinfandel and Chardonnay after a hard day of work, great time!
Also, Joey who works at MACLA, delightful person to have met. I learned a little bit more of the local artists who show their amazing work. Great way to start off the week of the Unilocal Culture Club promotion Abby! Looking forward to more events in the future ahead! =)

i’m usually someone who goes to a museum and is bored within minutes. the artwork at this gallery was the polar opposite of boring. it was really awesome to read all of the comic strips. not only was i entertained, but i learned a lot about latino culture as well.
the gallery is a great venue for a small event like this! the fruit/​cheese platter was yummy, and the zin wine was so right.

ps– i think google maps directions is confused as to where this place actually is. took me two blocks in the wrong direction :(

I had a nice time enjoying the 3d art prints where you wear the glasses. Some cool looking comics and graphic paintings too. I got to enjoy some cheese, wine, fruits, and crackers. I was glad it didn’t get overly crowded since the place is small. Had the perfect amount of people with enough space to maybe even run around! jk.
Parking is found on the streets or garages.

Cheese, wine and art. Such a winning combination. It’s classic, like peanut butter, jelly and bread. Well… not quite I mean peanut butter and jelly without bread would get pretty messy… while wine and cheese without art is still a pretty good time… but anyway… you get the point.
I had never been go MACLA before and I found the exhibits to be quite interesting, especially the 3d drawings (glasses available for your viewing pleasure). There was a large section dedicated to graphic comics and after a long day reading legal documents I just wasn’t in the mood to stand and read a wall. But I would like to come back sometime and find out what happens to Speedy Ortiz.
I thought the event itself was very well managed, good cheese and fruit table and the wine guy from Alderbrook was very knowledgeable.
The one thing I would recommend is that there but more trash cans available, they only had one and it was really small and it was past overflowing after about an hour.
All in all a good time, looking forward to the next event. I did find it odd that everyone I talked to was from the Midwest. What’s up with that?
