SMOG TECH Test Only Station 1 is a State of California certified Test Only Center. We are conveniently located in downtown San Jose with easy access to HWY 280 and 87.

With two smog bays and fast, friendly service, you are sure to have your car tested and returned to you quickly. If you prefer not to wait, you can drop off your car and pick it up later in the day when it’s more convenient. There is no appointment necessary, except for Sundays.

Most vehicles, large or small, can be accommodated. This includes cars, trucks, vans, limos and even RVs.

If you are unsure how your car will perform, ask us about our pre-​test option that is available to you. If needed, we offer one free retest within 15 days if your car doesn’t pass.

I don’t understand what the bad reviews are for, my experience here was superb. Prices are very competitive to other shops, &&&&&&& super fast ! 10 minutes for the whole thing. This place is clean and has a nice breeze at the waiting area and cold water for you while you wait. I failed the first time, very disappointing. At that time I felt all the stress and headache take over my body But luckily he told me what I needed to do and what to fix, very informative. After I did what I had to do I came back for a FREE retest and now I’m a happy child !

I just got my smog check here on 7÷14÷15 and I will NEVER GO BACK. The guy performed a visual test AFTER starting the smog test. He failed me on the visual and charges me $ 71.75 for the test. I took a look at the paperwork and the computer readings were a beautiful pass, but now I have to make repairs and bring it back to him because he failed me on the visual inspection after starting his $ 70 service? Think again a** hole.
You do the visual test FIRST so you don’t waste anyone’s time and/​or money.
Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

The 20 dollar deal off that they advertise on Unilocal is complete bullshit. The gentleman told me 50 dollars over the phone for the test and then when I actually show up and show him the offer he responds by saying that’s already in the price. BS. Avoid this place if your looking for a smog test!

Great place to go to when you’re looking for cheap quality service that’s quick. I got there and the whole smog check took probably at most 15 minutes. I sat down and checked email on my phone and looked back up and my car was done! Would definitely recommend!

Took my mom’s car here last week for smog check after I read the reviews. It literally took about 15 mins. The worker was also super nice. Great service and great price! I love that’s there’s a waiting for customers. There’s also wifi at the waiting area, which is a big plus! I would definitely tell my friends and family about this place.

I really wanted to like this place. But website says they’re open at 8am, times on door says 9am… And it’s 9:21am.

Unilocal says they open at 9, their website says 8. I thought «their own website should be more accurate right?». Well I was wrong. Got there at 8:30 and they were closed. Fine. Their ratings and reviews are good. I just want to get my smog check over with. 9 comes around. They open and I was told it would take another 30 minutes for «the machine to warm up». WTF…

Just brought my car in to this shop, see it everyday on my way to work. Called up the spot asked how much a smog test would be and informed of $ 50. Get there about 10 min later, very minimal wait, in the meantime got handed the paperwork to fill out and as I was done waited about 5 min then my car was up. Ran everything and passed with no issues. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would def. recommend this place to anyone looking to get a Smog Test ran.

Very professional guy. I assume he’s the owner and the only guy that works there.
I drove up, no one in line and no appointment needed.
He literally did the smog test in 20 mins. Very straight forward guy, no BS, just honest and gets the job done.
Failed the smog test since my car’s ECU was reset cuz i had to disconnect the battery. So I had to drive the car for a day or two and he said i can come back for the free re-​test and just the $ 8 to send the test results electronically. So, came back two days later, got the free retest in 10 minutes. 10 mins!!! thats insanely fast. no joke.

I also had the recent misfortune of opening up my car registration renewal paperwork from the DMV and seeing the dreaded «STOP! Your vehicle requires a smog test» message at the top (for the first time, I might add). So anyway, I dutifully took my car here during lunch from work to get it checked out. Apparently they give employees of a certain neighboring software company a $ 20 discount (same as the online coupon), so if you’re one of those, just flash your badge and save; no printing necessary!
In and out in around 20 minutes. They have free Wi-​Fi so I could send off a few emails while I waited. To me, Wi-​Fi should be a standard feature of car repair places… right there alongside the three-​year-​old magazines and stale coffee. Why more places don’t offer this is beyond me…
