After my roommates and I had rented our house from the owner’s previous company for 6 years without issue, Silicon Valley Property Company came in and raised rent 50% 30 days prior to our new lease. These people don’t care that they are gleaning profits off the roofs over peoples’ heads in the bay area, and end up taking money from both the tenants and renters. They made the move-​out process extremely stressful for my roommates who were moving to Seattle and hired professional cleaners the week before the walk-​through, and they were not upfront or reasonable to work with regarding the return of our deposit. They are very unprofessional and I would not wish this company on any landlord, tenant, or mortal enemy.

Student renters beware.
Former tenant of Silicon Valley/​Mr. Roberson. Had a mixed to negative experience. David was responsive and helpful at the beginning of the lease (this may have been because we had few maintenance requests and didn’t have to interface with him on a consistent basis). But when it came time to moving out and the end of the lease, the customer service deteriorated. I’ve had numerous previous landlords and have never engaged with someone this curt, inflexible, and passive aggressive when it comes to end-​of-​lease issues (a situation all the more perplexing in a rental market as landlord-​friendly as Silicon Valley).
Lack of transparency also an issue. For instance, I communicated my plans, weeks before the end of the lease, to arrange the removal of a couch from the unit while I was away so as not to incur removal costs. David advised me to leave the couch in the unit in case the following tenant wanted it. Radio silence for about a month. Cut to a few weeks later and we were charged hundreds of dollars for couch removal.

I worked with David as a painter. I painted a rental house that David manages, exterior and interior. It was an old Victorian house in Palo Alto that was upgraded.
David seems to be very experienced and honest, the way he handled the remodeling process was professional. He knew every step really well. He also managed the schedule well showing due care for the property.
It was pleasure to work with him.

He has been busy painting while not even noticing that the roofing on one building has blown off.
The basics of property management 101 are: the roof doesn’t leak, the electricity works, the plumbing works and the mandated safety features are present.
We have a building with out a viable roof, two clients with plumbing issues not addressed in a timely fashion and one house to get its smoke detectors installed 10 weeks after an inspection to verify their existence was requested.
A plumber was requested, a can of Drano was offered; a leaking sink was not important enough to get a plumber until the next week; an overflowing toilet took over night to clear. The steps to one house were not to code, i.e. no variance of more than ¼″ and David had a mason fill in with concrete, instead of replacing the sidewalk, back to the correct level, resulting in the first step of 5″ and the second of 7″. A law suit waiting to happen.
I am waiting to see evidence that there is a history of previous property management. Doesn’t appear to be, in my humble opinion,

I have hired SVPMG to take over the management of a client’s real estate portfolio in Palo Alto. David Roberson’s knowledge of property management and resources have been invaluable to me. He is very communicative with me about different issues that have surfaced with the change in property managers. I feel confident in his ability to manage different types of real estate.
