Let’s start off with the«Allstars» these two individual exemplify, in my opinion, the Ideal Dialysis Technician. Whenever my father has these two, I know he’s in good hands. They are personable, friendly, accommodating, and very professional: Ranjit and Tony. Just so you have an idea, apparently Satellite is opening a New Facility in Mt View where he will be for the next few months helping them setup and train for their opening day. That’s how good they are. Those two alone, I would gratefully give 5 stars. As to why, I rated 3. Some of the other Tech’s are not as friendly or accommodating. It appears they are quick to get the patient/client hooked up and off to whatever they’re rushing to get to. With my father he was always in excruciating pain when they had to stick the needles into him. He would ask for lidocaine and the techs would talk him out of it(in a condescending tone none the less). They would tell him that they would have to inject additional needles to do so. They even went as far as saying that he needed a prescription to do so. When I asked though, they said they’ll see what they could do. When I asked further and suggested that I’d call the Dr so we could get it immediately, they declined and said they would. Right there, I became suspicious. To further worsen things, my father asked for a 16 gauge needle since they were using a 15 gauge. They tech said to me(in front of my father), «he’s forgetful it’s been changed since last summer» She was speaking about him, to me, as if he weren’t even present. I get that my father is hard of hearing, but have some respect and don’t ignore his presence. My father insisted for a 16 gauge, which their response was that he would need to come in an additional day during the week as the gauge was smaller therefore not as efficient. I inquired, «by whose order was the needle changed?» They said that it had been changed for awhile. Long story short, to my knowledge, THEY changed the needle gauge on their own accord which they should have never done without consulting his Dr. As for the lidocaine, after speaking to the Site Manager, they should always accommodate the client per his/her request because no physician has ever denied a patient the local anesthetic. However, keep in mind that they technically need one(at least that’s what they explained). Needless to say, I did see changes after I spoke to their site manager which he addressed to his team during their weekly meeting. The bedside manners of the Technicians have improved, they no longer try to talk him out of his lidocaine which by the way comforts him greatly, and they do seem to be a bit more personable. My favorites are still: Ranjit and Tony. I think the rest of the Technicians can learn a lot if they modeled themselves after these two. Last note: care for your loved ones and«Inspect what you Expect» no one will care for them like you do.
