Marco is the absolute best! I had an early appointment to get my headlight fixed and he did it under 20 min and it works perfectly! So nice and helpful, definitely will be coming back for future problems!

The best auto shop in San Jose! Marco was super nice and he did not pressure me to buy/​get service done that was not needed on my car. He also did not come off as someone trying to scheme you. Haha. Best of all is that they specialize in Corollas, which is what I have.
I called on Wednesday to get an oil change and scheduled for the next day. I was a bit nervous at first because some auto shops say they open at 8 but staff doesn’t arrive until like 8:30−9. Got there at 8 and they were already working and waiting for me! Price is pretty reasonable too. It’s the perfect location to drop off my car and I just walked to pick it up from work. This place will now by my go-​to!

Excellent service! Called and spoke with Marco. Quoted me a price for an oil change and set up a time for the same day. Took it in and David took down all my information. Told me it would be about an hour and half. So I went walking through Japantown. Came back and they were just finishing up the job. My oil and filters were changed and they found a nail in one of my tires, which they removed and patched. Great team of guys, and fair pricing. Will definitely be returning.

Called Thursday morning at 8ish to see if I can get an oil change for my wife’s car. Marco picked up and was very concise and to the point. I explained to him that I typically do my own oil changes but this time I would have to get the oil and filter from. He quoted me synthetic oil as I requested and labor for the oil change if I brought my own parts. Very reasonably priced and a great individual to have on your side.
We got to San Jose Autoworks about 8:45am and he was finished by 12pm, which worked for us because it allowed us some time to run some needed errands. Usually, Marco works with another individual but he was out at the dentist and would not be back until Monday so he was flying solo. Very accommodating, was still able to fit us into the schedule with this circumstance.
My wife unfortunately got into a minor fender bender and he offered to check to see if there was any frame damage while he was working on the oil change

BEST auto shop, I wish I could give an unlimited amount of stars. Seriously Marco and Ty are the most honest, genuine, and hard working not just mechanics, but people I had the pleasure of meeting while I lived in San Jose, CA. I am so paranoid about mechanics to begin with, and I did research and called around to quite a few places then I found San Jose Autoworks rated at 5 stars. When I initially went in, I was skeptical… but Marco and Ty sincerely deserve every single star given. Before moving away, we worked our schedules so that we could get all of our scheduled maintenance done here, because we know how hard it is to find a trustworthy mechanic. You will not be regret trusting your vehicle with them.

My car needed an oil change BADLY!
So I checked on Unilocal and there were so many freakin’ places to choose from. I decided to go with this one because: 1) it’s highly rated; 2) it’s in Japantown so I could stroll with my baby during the service; and 3) we could have lunch somewhere nearby while we wait.
I definitely made the right decision, I would come back for my next oil change! Unless I get a coupon for a cheaper oil change somewhere else…

Best mechanics in San Jose. The guys that work here are genuine, which is extremely rare among mechanics. I’m sure most of us can think of at least one mechanic that wanted nothing more then $$$$.

Sometimes I make crap up for them to check and for me to replace, like my brakes, because like, I can’t even remember when the heck I last got new ones, but they’re like no, no, not yet! They are seriously legit and don’t overcharge for all my worries.
Between Ty and Marco are well over two decades worth of experience. They always go above and beyond with my old car (still chugging along with zero problems after twelve years… ugh…I mean, yay) — they’ve replaced turn lights and headlights and refilled car fluids and performed routine maintenance and have given me much, much reassurance about my car.
Highly recommended. Just give them a call and see if they can squeeze you in — they’re always honest with time quotes and always finish on time. Another plus? They’re in SJ Japantown = lunch!

One of the hardest things about moving to a new area is finding a honest dentist and an honest mechanic. I have yet to find a dentist that can replace my SoCal one, but Marco and his crew at SJ Autoworks have definitely earned the role of my designated go-​to mechanic.
I have taken both mine and my wife’s car here multiple times. He is good about explaining any issues in lamens terms so you understand what’s actually going on. He also never does anything unless it’s necessary or you ask him to. If fact, there have been times where I know he didn’t fully charge me for his labor, while investigating a problem, when he easily could have. He is an honest mechanic who really takes care of his neighbors here in Japantown.
He is pretty much always busy (a good sign), so make sure you call first if possible.

Had my brakes done here, this place was the cheapest price I found and they did the work fast and good. Very professional and nice guy who helped me out (Marco). Definitely returning, highly recommended!

For awhile I haven’t have the time to get my car work on. It started feeling not smooth and as the winter started, the heater also not getting the warm air. I took the car in asking for tune up and letting Marco know the heater is not working.
He first checked on my mileage, then said it should be done for a 90,000 tune up so I might just need an oil change. He will look into the heater issue and call me for the price.
He didn’t call me in the morning and when he called in the early afternoon he said my car is ready. He checked everything it just need the oil change and he was able to get the hot air so the heater is working without issue.
I picked up my car and paid for the oil change and ride back to work. Later the evening I drive the car home and turn on my heater, it was working.
All I can say is Marco is a honest person and his price is very reasonable.

I have brought both my vehicles here and received great service. I will not go anywhere else. Marco is very friendly, fair and honest. I highly recommend this place.

Picture this:
I’m on the first leg of a LONG trip. The Outer Richmond to Chattanooga Tennessee, via Phoenix. Had to be in TN Monday morning at 6 am.
Rolling down 101… Temperature gauge pegs. Pegs… to as hot as it can indicate.
I start looking for an exit. I take it, and now the Caddy is barely running due to auto power reduction… Steam coming out, the whole bit.
It’s 5:30 on Wednesday night, and everywhere I call is either closed, or about to close and don’t give a damn about my problems. I start to feel The Fear…
The last number on my Siri-​provided list was San Jose Auto Works.
Marco answered, and told me he was working late, and if I got it there, he’d have a look. I made it, barely, and pulled in to a small lot, PACKED with cars awaiting work… I figured I was outta luck, but after I ran down my situation, Marco moved me to the front of the line!
Moro (a totally cool cat) recommended a motel, then gave me a ride to it, recommending places to eat within walking distance…
Marco picked me up at my motel at 9 the next morning and I was 80 mph down 101 soon after.
I can’t describe what a righteous bunch of guys make up San Jose Auto Works.

You can expect fantastic service here. Really friendly people who LISTEN. Which is nice.
Took my car in for an inspection for an 8am appointment because my gas mileage dropped inexplicably. The mechanic, Tye, was there before I was, which was very professional. He asked whether I wanted anything else inspected, which I appreciated, and I mentioned that my right windshield wiper wasn’t working either.
Around 1pm I get a call from Thai himself and he tells me that he was unable to find anything wrong with the car, though he did fix my windshield wiper, so he wouldn’t charge me anything. WHAT. A GENTLEMAN.
Honestly, I am a 23 year old yuppie who looks to be about 16 and a half, so if any time I’m not ripped off at an auto repair shop, I consider that a win. To be given service and not even be charged for it? Well, that’s just plain awesome.
Their parking lot’s a little crowded but Tye is a great dude, so if there’s anything I need done on my car again, I’ll be coming back. I mean, I’m basically obligated to at this point. :P

This was pretty much the greatest experience with a mechanic I have had in my entire lifetime. No joke, this place is awesome.
I was helping my Dad with the purchase of a used Ford F-​150. He wisely wanted to take it to a mechanic before sealing the deal. I consulted Unilocal for a 5-​star mechanic in the same neighborhood as the seller of the truck and found San Jose Autoworks.
When I called to make an appointment, the person who answered the phone was helpful and polite. I called at about 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and was given an appointment early the next morning.
We arrived at about 8:45 a.m. The truck was ushered right onto the rack while we walked down the street to Roy’s Coffee Station to wait for the inspection to be completed. (Roy’s has great people watching, and lots of people bring their dogs which I love, love, love.)
After about 40 minutes, we returned to an incredibly thorough consultation. Only one repair necessary for the F-​150 (Yay!) and a couple of maintenance issues in the near future. Not bad. We asked for and received very reasonable written estimates for the future work. He spent about 15 minutes writing everything up (no charge) and sent us on our way reassured that we were buying a quality vehicle. The total charge for the inspection was an über-​reasonable $ 50.
I’m so impressed that we will definitely be returning to have the repair made to the F-​150, and I’ll be bringing in my own SUV for its next service.
(I did toy with subtracting one star for the fact that the owner is a Raiders fan while we are a 49ers family, but I’m really much more of a hockey girl so 5 stars it is.)

Marco and Tye did a great job. Both of them were very helpful and resolved my problems quickly and honestly. We dropped off the car in the morning and by early afternoon they had completed the repairs.
In contrast to many other car repair shops/​dealers:
— They are NOT pushy trying to convince you of all the «problems» that you need to urgently fix
— They answer the phone and are helpful over the phone
— They have fair prices and give you an honest assessment
It’s great to have a shop that I know I can trust and rely upon for future routine maintenance and any urgent repairs.
I would highly recommend them!
