Welcome to the San Jose Academy of Music. We are pleased that you have visited our website and hope that you find these pages to be inspiring, informational, and an introduction to what SJAM has to offer.

SJAM is a music school composed of professional musicians dedicated to the musical and artistic education of your community. Currently, we offer private instruction in Classical and Jazz piano, voice, violin, and guitar for all ages whether they are beginning a lifelong relationship with music or an adult who is developing an understanding of its richness as an expressive means. Ensemble opportunities such as children’s chorus and small instrumental ensembles are also encouraged. We offer courses such as music theory and ear training to help stimulate and develop logical thinking. Public performances and recitals are encouraged to promote self-​esteem and accomplishment.

History

Established in 1981.

SJAM began 25 years ago from the vision and work of Ophelia Raboca– Flores. The school had humble beginnings in a single private piano studio and has been cultivated into thriving multi-​teacher academy of numerous

instruments and musical styles. SJAM are professional and creative musicians dedicated to the fine art of teaching who seeks to serve the specific needs of each individual student, to communicate the joys of music making, and sharing the music with others.
