The Law Offices of Richard J. Staskus was established in 1988 when Richard moved from the Orange County District Attorneys Office to San Jose.

Since I wrote my initial review my case has been settled and all of the parties have been paid. It did take a long time, negotiations and a lot of patience. My chiropractor was the one who proposed the compromise settlement so everyone eventually got a fair deal.

Don’t do it! Do NOT hire this attorney to handle your personal injury claim unless you want poor customer service, empty promises and unsolved issues. It has been a few years now since the accident. I would have gotten more money if I just settled with the insurance company myself and taken care of my injuries with my own medical insurance. I have yet to see a dime. My doctor hasn’t been paid yet and now I am filing a fee arbitration with the Bar Association because he hasn’t dispersed the funds from the court settlement yet. He wants everyone else to adjust their fees, but he won’t adjust his. He wants to take his 30+% and 40+% but everyone else gets pennies on the dollar.
Really. Don’t do it. In the year’s of dealing with this law firm we have seen numerous staff changes — we don’t even know who we are dealing with. Everyone has to bend, give a little, everyone but him. Not fair. Think twice. Find someone else.

Years back I was injured in a car accident as a passenger. The kid just bought the car and had no insurance. Richard took my case and got me treatment for my injuries. After some background work he found out that the sellers paperwork was invalid and found someone that was responsible for my injuries. 2 other lawyers had reviewed my case and would even touch it. I ended up settling for $**,*** after fees and doctor payouts. Pretty darn good considering I was told that I had no case and no chance of collecting a dime.
I have since referred family and friends to Richard and have yet to hear a complaint. My case took a year and ½ I received many personal phone calls from Richard checking on my recovery and reassurance that I was not being ignored. When it came time to settle they offered us $*,***. Richard told them they needed to grab the pump handle with both hands Within the week that pump came to $**,*** which was 6 times their original offer. If you are looking for a no BS attorney Richard is the man to see.

From a Chiropractic doctors point of view — I’d actually taken care of an injured couple that was represented by Richard Staskus and I must say we had the opposite experience of the one star reviewer with the drawn out case.
Richard Staskus had sent a representative from his law firm to personally meet my patients at our facility as to not inconvenience the older injured couple. The case was closed in a reasonable time period with a complete reimbursement of the medical bills (this is rare). This also means that the client got a fair settlement as well.

Major communication problems! Staskus law offices have drug out my non contested accident case for over 3 years. I am in search of a new attorney. They do not return calls for weeks. They seem to have a habit of scheduling court dates on days I give them in advance that I am NOT available, then get mad at me because I have to change it.
