Regard Child Care & Development

Regard really is as good as it gets! I feel so lucky to have found Julie and her team of experienced teachers. They truly care about each and every child during good times and even some of the rougher times. My first child had a rough patch and Julie stood by us through it. Her communication with me was top notch; talking with me in person, email or phone whenever I needed an update. I felt like we made a team effort and he has jumped leaps and bounds. Now in kindergarten, he is MORE than prepared when it comes to academics. Not only was he prepped academically, he was taught to respect others and to treat people the way he would want to be treated. Of course we teach him these things at home, I can’t stress how important it is for these rules to be followed up on at school. Our second boy started at at 2 ½ and absolutely loves it. Within the first couple weeks he was counting, sitting still during story time at home and singing new songs (accompanied by cute dances. lol).
My favorite times at Regard are holidays. There is a big emphasis on celebrating birthdays and big holidays. The kids learn songs and do adorable arts and crafts to be brought home. Families are invited several times throughout the year to celebrate and watch the children sing in their class setting. This gives the parents a chance to get to know each other better which is always nice and has resulted in many play dates.
I’ll finish off by talking about the class setting. It’s very calm, warm and inviting with a large variety of toys, books, crafts, etc; for all children. It’s just the right mix of structure and play. There is a lot of free play, but the children are taught to listen and follow rules and direction. I have to say, this is HUGE for a mom with 2 very busy active boys! Thank you Regard!

I wanted to share the great experience I have had with Regard since my son joined 6 months ago. I was referred to Regard by a colleague whose two kids went through the school and while I had some expectations about what the school would be like, I continue to be pleasantly surprised and pleased with the teachers and the program overall. The director is very experienced and treats the parents and children with a lot of respect. She has been great at providing me and my husband with guidance on how the school runs and how they approach teaching the children. In my observations, I’ve been very happy with the way she and the staff interact with the kids. They are kind and respectful to each other and always talking about the golden rule. They offer a balanced set of activities and I feel very comfortable with the curriculum. My son has grown so much since being there. He is shy by nature but has really blossomed and improved his social engagement skills. He has also been a lot more vocal and inquisitive, often citing things he learned at school. I rate the school highly.

My son has been at Regard for the past 2 years. My wife and I checked it out after being referred by a trusted neighbor who was really happy with the experience his daughter was having. I could write pages of how positive the decision has been for us to be at Regard — however I’ll keep it short. My son is now going to be starting kindergarten this year and I really wish there was an environment that was similar to Regard for the next stage of his education. I do believe that Regard may not be for everyone. There is certainly a high degree of structure, and I see that they are grooming our little ones to become good people and learn the value of rules and treating others well. Personally I like that there is a plan to the day at the school. I believe kids need and crave stability and reliability — while including plenty of fun and joy — all of which my son experiences at Regard. I appreciate that the school keeps in mind the benefit of all of the kids and doesn’t accept unacceptable behavior. We had to go through an assessment to get in and I’m glad that they screen the children and parents to ensure that it’s a good fit as best as possible. Each class of pre-​K kids has a graduation at the end of the year and it’s really special. Past graduates often come and it’s clear from their reactions that they have treasured memories of being a part of a little gem of a school. Julie and her long term staff are filled with love for the kids and it comes through.

My experience with Regard is that it has been an excellent place for my child to begin her schooling. The teachers are extremely conscientious when dealing with the children and because of the small class size, are well equipped to get to know each child individually. I have also never found the owner Julie Rymer to be difficult to reach, in fact I have long discussions with her about my child on a regular basis. When I do not have time to stop and talk, I have been able to get email reports whenever I have a question or concern.
In one specific instance, I was apprehensive about bumping my child up from half days to full days. Julie sent my wife and I an unprompted email photo of our child sleeping happily at nap time to help ease our apprehensions. It is a small thing, but anyone that knows what it is like to be concerned about their child doing new things, knows how a considerate gesture like that can make your day.
I can truly say that my daughter gets out of bed in the morning and can not wait to get to school. .. especially on sharing day. I would not hesitate to recommend Regard to anyone and will be sending my next child to this school as soon as she is ready.

She found this preschool because she lives around the corner from it. Her daughters go to this school and they very much enjoy it. They often don’t want to come home! They would rather stay there.
They love the high quality teachers and they really feel like they care about her kids as much as she does.
The school has excellent academics and social skill building. Most of the teachers are retired credentialed teachers and the school has a very welcoming atmosphere.
