Redmond 76

Pulled in for a smog check. One lady in line ahead of me. No cars in the work bays. I was told it would be 30 min. Came back 45 min later to be scolded that he told me I would be called (which I never was told) and that it would be another 20 – 30 min because there was a car in front of me. An hour later my phone rings. The male who never stated who he was or where he was calling from simply states «I realized I had your phone number, come get it». Simply stated, don’t come here for quick and friendly service.

Had my oil Change good service good people and fast and ferindly also good price, not sure what these other people are talking about but loved this service and going back again for sure.

Great and friendly service! They got me a new engine for my sonata for cheaper then the other guys and got it in quickly! Cars working like new and it didn’t costs a arm and leg! Not sure what these other ppl are talking about but loved the service and going back to get new tires for the sonata and my husbands tahoe since they are offering a great price as well!

They slammed my car door open into a pole during a smog check. Then he expected me to pay for the test after causing hundreds of dollars in damage by denting the door to my 2012 car. Terrible customer service and no attention to detail or respect for my car

Based on my experience here I would strongly URGE no business be taken here.
2 years ago, I had Ben look at my AC in my 2003 Honda CRV. The AC would cut out — leaving cool air to be blown intermittently. There seems to be no correlation to accelerating, decelerating, high or low speeds. He had done work on my father’s car and this choice was one of ease and location. Ben stated that he could fix it and would cost $ 900.
When I picked up the car and paid my closer to $ 1,000 for the repair he assured it was fixed.
I’ve been back once, my father took it back once all for the same ongoing issue and now, with this current heat wave as we approach July 4^th weekend and with a road trip to LA around the corner, you guessed it — the AC is on the fritz again.
If you work hard for your money and expect the work done on your cars to last, may I urge you to look else where.

We were visiting friends in the neighborhood and decided to take care of our vehicle smog check. The employees there were ready to assist us we asked how much checked into Unilocal and got aren’t $ 20 discount. We were out with friends & since our time was occupied it fit perfectly. It may have taken 40 – 120 minutes, but our minds were clear we were already happy & they called me as soon as they were done & ‼BOOM‼it passed‼it’s a Honda of course. Treat people as you hope to be treated & you usually experience the best in people

I was on a tight deadline and I just needed to get my smog check done. I dropped my car off here because it was close to my parent’s house. The posted price for a smog check was $ 59.95 plus labor, which seemed pretty steep to me but I just wanted to get it done, so fine. It turns out that I should have been paying more attention, because when I looked at the invoice several hours later (yes, I signed the credit card slip without reading it carefully like an idiot) they charged me 63.95 plus labor instead — and I drive a Honda Civic, so there was *no reason* there should have been any charge above the base cost.
Bottom line: don’t go here. You can get smog checks for much cheaper elsewhere, and they will apparently charge whatever they feel like, not the posted price.

It’s just a shame that I did not read Unilocal before taking my car here. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars and still have the same issues with my car. I’m so disgusted with this place it’s not even funny. And every time they want to sell me tires which I know I don’t need because they can’t figure out how to address the real issues with my car.
Don’t bother taking your car there unless you are super rich and have nothing better to spend your money on other than useless «repairs» which are total bs…

These guys actually had the gall to tell my mother that they wouldn’t help her with her 20lb propane tank when she asked for assistance. They said, «bring it to the back yourself and we will meet you there.»
When she asked if they could help and carry it for her, they said «we don’t do that».
I can’t even think of the right words. AVOID. BOYCOTT. SHUT THIS BUSINESS DOWN.

Came here today and was told that an oil change for my Toyota Camry would be $ 65 and that the $ 18.95 coupon would NOT work. What the hell? Just some background, I’ve been here plenty of times before and have gotten the $ 18.95 coupon deal for an oil change and no problems. When I mentioned this to the man he snidely told me to produce the invoice to prove it. It’s been 6 months since I last got an oil change with them, why in the world would I keep an invoice from that long ago? I even have a sticker on my windshield from when they changed my oil last time to remind me to go to them when the time was up for another one!
Why bother giving out these coupons if you’re not going to honor it? Personally felt like he thought he could rip me off just because I’m a female who «obviously» doesn’t know anything about cars. Please. I’ve gotten enough oil changes to know that synthetic oil is NOT what my car needs despite your adamant proposal that anything else would not work on my car.
Instead I took my car to the other 76 on Camden and guess what? They only charged me $ 24. Might not be as cheap as the $ 18.95 deal but sure as hell is cheaper than the $ 65 BS.
My parents and I have been here plenty of times before but I sure as hell am not coming back here ever. You’ve lost a previously loyal customer.

I took a propane tank here to fill it. The guy filled it part way and charged me full price. For comparison, this has never happened at any other gas station I patronize (including the 76 station at the corner of almaden and camden a couple of miles away). Never going back.

I needed an oil change for my Toyota Camry. I used to take it to Wheelworks since I purchased my tires there so I could get tire rotation and oil change done at the same time. However, the Wheelworks on Winfield refused to honor a competitor’s coupon. SO… I decided to check the Pennysaver and voila, I found on the back cover an ad for oil change for $ 18.95.
I called them and spoke to someone whose English was his first language. He asked me what kind of car I have, and told me to bring in the car and that I could use the coupon. That was just 2 days ago. Today, I decided to have a friend drive me down there at lunch time and drop off the car. Somehow, my instincts told me to call first. So I did, and this time spoke to another person whose English was also perfect. He asked me what kind of car I have, and then said that it didn’t qualify for the coupon. In fact, he quoted me $ 29.95 and I don’t even know if that included the waste fee + tax.
Anyway, I protested and told him that the other guy told me it was OK to bring my car it. Sooo he backed down to wanting to charge an additional $ 4 for the extra qt of oil, plus the other fees, so the total would have come to about $ 28.30. I asked to speak to the owner and he told me that he was out for a test drive. When I asked him to ask him to call me when he returned, he said he wouldn’t come back until late afternoon. I called at 11 so his test drive would take 5 – 6 hours!!! REALLY?
Shortly after, the same guy called me back and said that he spoke to the owner and Ben said that they would do it for $ 22.95 + all the fees, which would have added up to $ 28.30. By this time, I’m pretty ticked off because they were playing games with me and my time.
Fortunately I was able to find another coupon in the Pennysaver and this time everything sailed beautifully. The owner who answered the phone was super nice. In person, he was even nicer. He did exactly what he said he’d do on the phone. My cost came to $ 25, no fuss or deceit.
Redmond 76 — you can advertise those coupons all you want for $ 18.95 but if you don’t honor your word, then it’s a waste of everyone’s time. Just remember that people don’t come back!!! In my case, I’m SOOOO glad I never went otherwise I’d be counting my losses right now. Judging from the rest of the reviews, seems like it’s almost unanimous, except for the 1 person who gave you a 5-​star, that your business leaves much to be desired!!!

I got a coupon for a basic oil change. I have a pickup so I expected it to be a couple of bucks more. Nope! they said it requires more oil and therefore it was double what the coupon offered. hooray!
I don’t know how they are still in business with all of their shady practices!

Simple coupon for oil change. The coupon did indicate (as most do) some vehicles aren’t applicable. My 10 year old Camry rarely falls into this category. But no, it would cost $ 39.95. «Bigger oil capacity», he said. Ugh. Tried to haggle with me as I walked out the door.
Slimy and looking to rip you off. Stay away from the service shop all all costs.

The BEST Gas Station I have ever gone to. Great Service and Friendly atmosphere! They do have one of the cheapest prices for their services in the Bay Area!!!

I live down the street, I use to come here all the time for gas. However, since they tried to rip me off I stopped giving them my business.
I have had 7 cars in the last 2 years, needless to say, I need a lot of smog checks. I got my fathers car smogged here for 30 dollars, it was a 1999 lexus. There was no problem there. I went back to get my BMW done a few days later, and they wanted 79 dollars. The head boss came out to speak to me as I asked why the price was so high. He said smogging a bmw is different from other cars (total lie); as both cars run on the same OBD 2 system.
I ended up taking my car to my mechanic, who confirmed that the smog process for both cars is the same. I got it done for 40 dollars.
The fact of the matter is places such as this, prey off of people who do not know that they are being ripped off. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Their gas prices suck too.

after the work,
I returned for my auto,
And I started to smirk,
I thought of a plan
to make myself feel better,
the shop had not consider
that I was a Unilocaler.
So my advice is quite simple,
don’t come here for work.
I wouldn’t dare suggest it
lest you plan to go berserk.

This is not the first time I was treated rude while doing business here. Though the first time I was in a hurry and could put up with their attitude, plus that was over a year ago. They are close so I gave them another try, plus I saw they had coupons, which means they wanted business right?

I don’t why they bother, because the person named Ben is the worse. I tried to explain that I wanted a smog check, and as I gave my car’s info, he kept questioning me and acted like I didn’t know my own car?! He kept smirking and raising his voice when I asked something. This is not how you treat customers, and as I told him this he shooed me away, didn’t want my business…
As I was leaving I told another customer what happened, but I think Unilocal is a better way to warn people, so stay away if you know what’ good for you
Also the other 1 star 76 Redmond on Unilocal is the same awful gas station people should avoid!

BOYCOT BEN ALMADEN
Ben has been ripping off the good people of Almaden for years. It is just a travesty that a man like this has been allowed to cast his unethical and continuous lack of basic moral fiber into our valley. A prime example of his greed and lack of respect for human life almost was the cause a good friends life. Ben took it upon himself to start work on the fuel injection system of the car, which did not need any such work. And without a second thought did not replace the seals. Gas was being spayed out of every missing seal under pressure when the car was started and driven. It is just by the grace of God that they were not engulfed in a ball of fire. How much longer are we as a community going to allow a man like this to ruin the small slice of heaven we all enjoy. This is why we must BOCOT BEN TO SAVE ALMADEN!
