Best dentist for kids. I recall the days I would be chasing my kids around so they would sit for a checkup. The staff was understanding and would help me settle my kids. They sure know how to deal with kids and make going to the dentist an enjoyable event for them.

I have been taking my kids here since they were 2 years old and we love this office!
The office is very nice and spacious. It’s also extremely clean (I work in a general dental office and I’m super ocd about this). They have movies for kids to watch while getting teeth cleaned or work done. They also have iPads for kids to play on.
The dental assistants and staff are so sweet and all the Drs there are amazing. My kids personally like Dr. Jacky. She is a saint (that’s a understatement). She is able to work on my kids even while they are frantic which can happen. She has children herself and knows how to deal with them by singing songs or talking to them about the latest super heroes or Disney characters. They do not use a papoose, which some pedo offices use, which in my opinion will not only traumatize a child but a parent to. If needed they have a anesthesiologist to sedate your child while dental treatment is done.
Look no further, this is by far the best pediatric dental office!

I have a 5 yr old and 3 yr old that have been going this office and seeing Dr. Jacky since before they needed any dental care or screenings. My 5 yr old is a very anxious child and wants to know everything that is going on. It has taken them a couple years of routine cleanings and xrays to get them to LOVE the dentist, but now they do and it is such a relief as a parent. Everyone is all smiles and friendly, despite any difficulties w getting the children to relax and comply. A relative referred me here, as this was where they brought their small children as well and loved them.

My daughter was terrified of the dentist she had a horrible experience with our previous dentist when we started to bring her to dr. Ligh and his group it was amazing. They were soo kind and understanding. Talked her through everything and never got frustrated with her. Because of the trauma she went along time with out dental care, they had a lot of work to do and I am proud she got it done and now LOVES to come see the staff and get her teeth cleaned.
I would recommend this group to anyone looking for
. they care and never judge or make you feel bad about what stage in oral care you are in. I walked in with a crying terrified child who had a alot of work to do. They took such good care of her and never made me feel like she was beyond help. And we did it all with out putting her to sleep :)

Dr Ligh and all the pediatric dentist and assistants here are amazing. The facility is so kid friendly my kids actually look forward to coming to the dentist.

We LOVE Dr. Ligh, but our family will not be returning. His front office staff is so rude. They keep trying to schedule us with the associate dentist even though our family sees Dr. Ligh. There’s a lot of turn over and every time we have an appointment our account is a mess. Be prepared for lousy customer service and outrageous bills.

We have been going to Dr. Ligh for several years and have been very pleased with him and the office staff. Everyone is very nice and helpful. We have recently seen Dr. Fridgen and really like him too. I love that Dr. Rideau is in the same office as well. Very convenient.
In fact, over the holiday week (right before Christmas) both my kids had their teeth cleaned w/​Dr. Ligh and my son had his braces checked by Dr. Rideau all in the same day. We had to return the next day to fill a small cavity in my son’s tooth and Dr. Ligh squeezed us in to get it done while my son was on vacation. It also just so happened that my son’s wire from his braces was poking in his cheek and we wanted to have that checked while we were there. Dr. Rideau’s office was already off for the holiday but they were able to find a hygienist that had ortho experience and she took a look at it, removed the wire, & called Dr. Rideau while my son has his cavity filled. After speaking with the dr she replaced the wire. Great service!

Absolutely love Dr. Ligh. I’ve been going to this dentist about 6 years, even though I’m sure I’m too old to continue seeing a Pediatric Dentist. I used to be close to fainting everytime I was anesthetized, but thanks to this dental office, I’ve gotten over that fear. It’s honestly a great place for pediatric dental care. I would recommend it for anyone’s kids!

Revised our daughter’s lip tie — did a fantastic job. I am knocking one star off as he said there was no posterior tongue tie and we have since found that this is not the case.

We were referred to Dr. Ligh by our family dentist when my 5-​year old son had a cavity needing to be filled. It turned out, the cavity was so fast-​moving that an extraction was the better course of action. Of course, hearing that, this Mommy was nervous and upset, but Dr. Ligh put all my fears to rest. He was kind, gentle, and took his time explaining things. He also assured me he would follow up with our family dentist to get his opinion as well, and he did.
The extraction went beautifully. My son hardly felt the novicaine shot or the extraction itself, and Dr. Ligh was calming for me just as much as his patient! I can’t say enough about his helpfulness and kind demeanor.
The staff is excellent. We have worked with Denise, who is so sweet, and even Dr. Al came by to help us out. Everyone is kind and great with kids.
Thuy in billing is so sweet and helpful. We are uninsured, and she gave me plenty of her time and advice to help explain things in a friendly manner.
The dentist is one place you don’t want your kids fearing, and if you choose this office, I promise you your child will want to come back!

Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. My boyfriend’s 8 year old son was super nervous about the dentist because his mother has never taken him, so this was only his second time seeing a dentist! Needless to say, he has a lot of problems with his teeth! He needs four fillings and three tooth extractions, which is terrifying to any kid. He was very apprehensive, but Dr. Jacky, Jonathan, Thuy, Dr. Fridgen, and Diana were all amazing! All of them went out of their way to help us out.
First of all, we have a complicated situation since we have to fit 5 appointments into a tight 3 week schedule since my boyfriend’s son goes back to his mom in Arizona. Thuy (the treatment coordinator) was so accommodating as far as this goes. She has been able to get us the appointments we need, so we don’t have to fly my boyfriend’s son back out here. Thuy is so kind, and she takes the time to work with us to make an appointment to fit our needs. She really cares about the patients, and she is so good with the kids, so we adore her!
My boyfriend’s son saw Dr. Jacky and Jonathan the first time a week ago for a filling and tooth extraction They were so friendly, kind, and gentle. They used excellent misdirection techniques, so the kids don’t notice things such as shots or drills. Dr. Jacky is so funny, and she is so good at creating a calm environment. Jonathan was warm and funny as well. The two of them were such a great team, and we were so appreciative to have such awesome people like them. My boyfriend’s son was so nervous, and he kept stalling, but they remained calm the whole time, and they talked him through it. Dr. Jacky is too funny when she talks about her «long nails» and how they keep scratching people. Dr. Jacky went above and beyond when she wrote a letter for us detailing my boyfriend’s son’s teeth and diagnosis, so we could give it to his mother to ensure she cares for his teeth properly when he is with her, which is the whole school year.
. Today, Dr. Fridgen and Diana saw my boyfriend’s son, and they were fantastic as well! They were so good at relaxing my boyfriend’s son, and they were gentle. Dr. Fridgen was kind enough to get us an appointment tomorrow, so that we can get all the work done in the next few weeks. Diana was an absolute sweetheart, and they gave my boyfriend’s son a ninja balloon, so he was so happy! Today my boyfriend’s son said he is no longer afraid of the dentist, and he is ready to go back tomorrow for more work. We couldn’t be happier to find such a terrific dentist team! To be candid, I wish they took adult patients, but I asked Dr. Jacky, and she said they didn’t. If they did, I would absolutely go because they are so wonderful. Your kids will love the child– friendly layout of the office. There are a ton of toys, and they even have ipads for the kids to play with. I just can’t say enough about this place! We are lucky to have found them!

I have a lot of great health care professionals, but Dr. Ligh is my favorite! He has taken EXCELLENT care of my children, who are now 13 & 17. When my son knocked out two baby teeth at 8 pm one evening, and I called him the next morning he had us come first and said «You should have called me at home last night. I would have met you at my office,» And he would have, I have NO doubt. He is extremely dedicated, professional, kind to kids and parents, and most importantly, very competent. There is no better dentist in San Jose. Even my fabulous pediatrician takes her kids here. HIGHLY recommend.

My son see Dr. Jacky and we love her. She had a family emergency and Dr. Ligh had to see my son. She personally called me the next business day to apologize for not being there to see my son and I thought that was above and beyond the call of her duty.

My 7 year old daughter was treated at Dr. Ligh’s office by Dr. Jacky. I was in total panic mode knowing my daughter needed two cavities filled. The initial office visit was very pleasant. The office is very much geared to kids and the staff was really nice…
I was sweating as my daughter was in the chair… would she cry? would it hurt? OMG will she let the Dr. inject her? I was really freaking out. REALLY freaking out!
My baby had a WONDERFUL experience — she giggled! Dr. Jacky was crafty and basically used re-​direction to get my daughter numb (SHE DIDNT KNOW SHE GOT A SHOT IN HER MOUTH) — and then with the drilling! OMG!!! I did opt to pay for the laughing gas and it was well worth it!
Can I tell you what relief it was to be done with 2 fillings in 15 min? WITH NO CRYING? NO PAIN??? This is hands-​down the best pediatric dentist I have ever visited… If you look at my reviews — I’ve reviewed quite a few dentists… I highly recommend this office and specifically Dr. Jacky who today impressed the crap out of me!!!

While Dr. Ligh and his Dental Assistants made my sons first experience good. I liked the office and the new patient picture and thought it was cool to have tv’s on the cieling.
I was extremely unhappy with the Staff who told me when I arrived that they do accept my Met Life Insurrance. Met Life claims they pay 100% of Regular Check up/​X-​rays /​Cleaning, but I still had a bill of $ 27 because they charge more than what is deemed acceptable by my insurance. I have never had trouble with my insurance at my adult dentist.
Then I had got my sons back tooth sealed to help protect it from cavitities, and now 1 year later, he does have a cavity in that tooth. The new dentist said there is no sealant on that tooth, which I know was the tooth we had sealed. I looked up sealants and it should last up to 10 years, so I dont think he did a good job sealing that tooth, and that was $ 70 wasted.

Dr. Ligh evaluated my newborn and he was gentle with her. I felt so comfortable talking to him about my concerns about my newborn, and he was able educate me with great knowledge and his own experiences. My husband and I were very happy with his chairside manners and we are looking forward to have him take care of our daughter as she grows up. Thank you Dr. Ligh for your advice and recommendations!

We have been going to this office for about 7 years now. My daughters have always been very happy to see the dentist and look forward to their appointments. We have usually seen Dr. Fridgen (who we also love) but recently saw Dr. Ligh for my daughter’s first cavity. She was upset about getting a cavity and nervous about it and I expressed my concerns to Dr. Ligh. He made her feel extremely comfortable and was efficient and calm with her. She did great!
The office is like Disneyland as others have mentioned. Very clean, full of amenities like ipads in the waiting room, coffee, and movies while having procedures done. They give the children a balloon, a prize, and of course a new toothbrush after an appointment. Over the top, but perfect for the dentist! Highly recommend.

I had very bad experience with Dr. Randy Q Ligh, DDS. First of all his office remind me factory rather than the medical office, people moving back and forth and no personal attention or personal connection/​attention. My kids were recommended a lot of services and I was trying to accommodate these services at my schedule, one day I got a letter that my kid is discharged from Dr. Randy Q Ligh because we have not finish service on time! Instead of working with my family and trying to be more accommodative, he is trying to be stiff and rude. This is bad customer service at least, and not professional as doctor. He does not treat his patient as his family rather people that he can make money off and I do not trust his professional judgment for the same reason.
I would not recommend you to use his office; rather find good small office where you will be treated professionally and with dignity.

I referred to Dr. Ligh by my dentist for my son. My initial first impression… ok nice place very kid friendly which is important but very busy and I felt more like a number than a patient. The receptionist… a bit rude, I agree with a few of the last negative comments on here… the staff could definitely either go back to graduating high school, working at DMV or just simply get the stick out of their a$$. As a parent we all know and understand how difficult and sometimes frightening a visit to a dentist can be and we can do without the initial office visit attitude from the staff. We do not visit the dentist often and so a courteous demeanor would be highly professional and recommended. When called back to see the dentist my son immediately was frightened which is rare since he was seeing my dentist and had never complained. After awhile of waiting for Dr. Ligh to see him, they did the normal xrays which went great, as he sat back in the chair I could see the look of fear in my boys eyes… they have so many chairs close together and my son was not comfortable with the children sitting next to him screaming. I was told my son had a cavity and it needed to be taken care of and so after his consultation I was taken to a room to discuss insurance and costs which was fine I understood all that it entailed and left with the information. After that, I was continously harassed by phone with voice messages, emails and mail to schedule my son for his procedure and I dont mean 1 call, 1 email and 1 mailing, there were several to the point that I received one day a certified letter and not knowing who it could be and thinking it was important enough
to send certified I drove to the post office to pick up a letter from the dentist to schedule my son… are you serious? I was pissed. they wasted my time to pick up this letter?
I called and asked to speak with Dr. Ligh and the receptionist refused to put me through to his vm or him and so I gave her my message on how ridicoulous it was to send parents a certified letter forcing them to schedule an appt. it was called HARASSMENT!
I needed to contact them one last time to get my sons xrays and the rude receptionist told me we were dismissed from their office for not following through with diagnosis recommended… I laughed and thought… are you serious? How unprofessional… little do they know I dismissed them the day I walked out. I have never heard of such a thing or experienced such lack of professionalism. I am not asking to be catered to… all I ask is to treat myself, my child and any of their patients like they themselves would like be treated from any professional business, specially those that work with children.
I hope that Dr. Ligh reads these reviews and can understand where his practice is going wrong and how it may reflect on him personally if he does not take care of these issues and have better staff training or smarter ones for that fact.

I’ve been going to Dr. Ligh since I had teeth. 40 check-​ups, 2 years of braces (with Dr. Rideau), and a collection of those free wind-​up toys later there’s no one else I’d rather have working on my pearly whites.

— The best staff (Nina has been my receptionist for two decades and is always the friendliest person in the room)
— Always have some PIxar movie playing above your chair for your enjoyment (or to distract you)

What I dislike
— Whenever I call to schedule my appointment, they ask me for the name of my child. There’s always some slight awkwardness on the phone when I say it’s for me. I feel like Ross on FRIENDS who still goes to his pediatric doctor.
They used to have some kind of prizes for no cavities and referrals but I think after 20 years i’ve maxed out. I have far outgrown the size of the office chair and the waiting room is filled with kids a quarter my age who don’t even have all their permanent teeth in yet. These are constant reminders that I need to find an adult dentist… but until Dr. Ligh kicks me out, i’m not budging.
