Primary Plus Elementary School

My two children have been in the Action Day Primary Plus (ADPP) schools since they were only 9 months old. They are now 7 and 4 years old. Needless to say, we have been beyond happy with the ADPP daycare and primary schools to keep our kids there for so many years!
Our son attended the ADPP El Quito campus up until Kindergarten (our daughter is still at El Quito in their Junior Kindergarten class). He is now at the ADPP Amber School for 1^st grade. We just couldn’t be happier with the education and experiences he has had as part of the academic programs through Primary Plus. He is thriving in Mr. Martin’s class, and truly loves going to school each day. The fact that he actually wants to go to school makes my husband and I so very happy.
Our son has struggled academically (it started years ago with his struggles to speak and his struggles to understand others when they speak). I have felt only love and support for him as his teachers through the years have worked to help him and to find a way to connect with him and teach him the skills he needs for success in school. When he started 1^st grade his reading skills were way behind his classmates after the kids did some testing. So we asked for some guidance and now his reading skills are soaring. It makes me feel so amazing to hear him read to us each night and to hear him read signs and other things out loud. I know the patience and support and individualized attention he gets at school have made this possible.
The other amazing part of the ADPP schools is the after school program. Each day our son has «study hall» where he does his homework with his afternoon instructor, Miss Lisa. She is so amazing and patient with him, even when he is his typical goofy boy self! I love that we can talk to her each day at pick up and know how his day was and what we can work on with him. And selfishly, not having to do homework with him each night is a life saver! At the public school our son would have attended, I heard not-​so-​great stories about the kids in after school care. Friends told us it was more like one adult was stationed at each door of the room and they were there solely to keep the kids alive. Plus it would have had kids from Kinder up through 5^th grade in one room. That is not the case at ADPP, where kids stay in their own grade and work on things together like homework and other fun projects.
Finally, the multitude of skills the kids learn during the academic week at ADPP seems far more varied than what they would be in public school. They have music and art and learn the Spanish language each week. Plus, my son takes karate classes and attends a Lego camp each week — none of which I have to drive around like a taxi service for as it’s all on campus!
We are truly grateful and so happy to be a part of the ADPP schools. We cannot recommend them enough!

My daughter has attended Primary Plus Action Day Care this school semester. The office staff, her teachers are Wonderful! They are so good to my daughter and me.

New to the area in June 2012, I asked some long time friends who lived here where they had their kids at day care/​preschool when they were young and was told Action Day. I was so overwhelmed and started the search. Not only was I figuring out the best place for my 3 year old son but also geography. I was also going back to work sooner than I had been planning after being laid off so really did not feel ready. I soon found the wonderful team at Action Day Lincoln where my son went for 1.5 years, blossoming and loving it, making dear friends (I did too) and bursting through many milestones such as potty training and Halloween parades :)
Along the way I heard about the junior K program at Amber and to be honest was also bewildered by so many choices and options for my son’s schooling. Many of the other parents enrolled their children so we went to an open house and learned more about it. I have always been worried that our kids are growing up too fast with too much pressure in school, lots of homework, etc. so was hesitant but signed him up. Now 6 months into the program I can’t believe what he has learned and accomplished. I will not list everything but the development has been substantial. And he loves his school and enjoys it so very much. I think if I held him back it would be more for me than him, as well.
I could provide a lot of facts but a lot of that information can be found on any school’s website. What I have always cared the most about is that my son be in a caring environment that is safe while not in my and my husband’s watch. I want him to be happy and be able to learn from other people’s example. Action Day has provided all this and then some. The teachers and staff are fabulous and so kind. They are fun and happy, thinking of great ideas for «spirit day» or the most wonderful holiday performance I have seen (literally moved me to tears to see my four year old singing and performing on stage). I am someone who works to live, not vice versa so it is not easy for me to leave my son every day. The fact that he runs happily into class, is greeted by such wonderful teachers, staff and friends makes me realize that what he is gaining by being in such a fabulous environment is probably better than I could provide for him at home. So thank you, thank you to all the fantastic people that make Action Day what it is — a positive, nurturing place for little people to learn to love school! For any parent that cares about these things, this review is for you as well!

Our introduction to Action Day Primary Plus was with the El Quito campus. Coming from a previous place where she panicked and melted down whenever we dropped her off, we were relieved when she actually looked forward to going to school and excelled.
Moving her to Amber for elementary was not in our original plan. Because we live in South San Jose we were going to give the public school a try. The try lasted one week and we realized moving her to Amber was a complete no brainer. She was still playing sports and was on the WVDK dance team. We wanted her to be where she would thrive, be happy, safe, and getting the education and attention she deserves. We have that at Primary Plus Amber Elementary.

Action Day is excellent! My oldest attended for two years before transitioning to public school. Now my youngest is in the Pre-​School program. It was the best thing we could have done for him.
He was originally at a home care environment until she moved out of state in October. I was very fortunate that they accepted him with open arms after the school year had already started.
In just about two months, we’ve seen a major transformation in his attitude, personality and capabilities! He’s such a big boy! It’s a relief to know he’s adapted easily to his new school, loves his new teachers and new friends!
The teachers and staff really care for the well being of their students. They keep parents informed and involved too. We thank them very much for all their efforts!

My Daughter is not yet 5. With a January birthday she is too old for a nursery school, and too young for kindergarten. We found Primary Plus Amber, and it has been the perfect fit.
The school has a Pre K (more preschool-​like option, with a nap), a Jr. K (more kindergarten like program) And a traditional K. Between those three options, this school can look at any kid, and help find the right mix of play-​fun-​structure –challenge for every child. The warm, safe campus means that my daughter can stay in the school and get everything she needs.
In the first year/​s, school is providing this amazing combination of socialization and academic growth. And I want my child in a place where I know she is being cared for, not just taught. I want her to be cherished, not just watched. I want her to be nurtured, not just ‘accounted for’. I want the school to have the time and staff to devote to the healthy growth of my child, not just to record the test scores. I feel so fortunate to have found a place that does all that and more.
Not only do the teachers in her room know her, the entire administrative staff knows her, and not just her name. She feels at home there, and knows that she is safe, and welcome. I am so grateful to everyone at Amber for making our transition into school such a smooth one.
I genuinely feel that this is the most important money, and best money that we have ever spent.

My oldest son is 5.5 and he is attending the kindergarten program there, I wouldn’t be happier his teacher is Excellent, yeah I mean it Excellent. The academic program is very rich, and the enrichment program is one of the best, they do computer lab, science, music. They do have a library that they can use and also iPads .
The staff is amazing from the front office to the teachers and the assistants.
A great professional team, very helpful. I drive everyday from north east Santa Clara to south San Jose and it’s worth it. I feel very confident with a peace of mind leaving my son there.
At Amber school you get more than education, my son is learning how to be confident about himself, how to be a good citizen in the future and all this in a fun way, infact everyday what I picked him up, I asked him «how was your day?» he replied «a lot of fun Mom» what a wonderful answer.
And the best off all is that before getting him to this school, his old school was action day «Phelan «They make him visit the school twice, in a purpose to introduce him to his futur school where he is going to attend his kindergarten year, both times they make him do some crafts, read some books, visit classrooms, so my son was very well prepared to attend this new location. And in addition to this we had about 3 conferences that we attended as parents (with free child care of course and a hot dinner served to the kids, Action day think about everything) to learn about the program, so we had chance to meet the teachers, talk about their program. that’s what we call Action Day «plan ahead, stay ahead».
Amber staff is very professional, they know how to deal with kids, From the Director to the whole staff, they make you feel that they are family and you are part of it, they care about everybody.
If you are looking for a school that have a very rich program with a wonderful staff, this is the best place, I wish I can rate this school 6 or 7 stars .
The hot lunch is my favorite part, so everyday they have a very healthy meal to serve for the kids, and the best is that you have the option to choose either hot lunch or you pack a lunch box for your kids, and on those days when you are tired and you don’t want to prepare it for your kids, don’t worry Michelle luncheon will take care of it.
Most of the teachers are Moms, so you don’t feel like you are dropping your kids with just employees at a private school but you feel like you are leaving them with their second mom, and that’s true I call my kids teachers their second mom, in fact my older son calls me from time to time with his teacher’s name.

I left the best for the end, usually when we talk about private schools we never know or meet the owner, sometimes it’s just name on the official paper. But this is not what happen at Action Day, the owner is at the head of the Administration, and I met her so many times, and she is awesome, very humble, down to earth, you feel like you are part of her Big Family, yes that’s the truth, and I feel that way.
Action Day is my second big family her in the US.

My oldest kids went to Action Day and now my youngest daughter has been with Action Day since she was 8 months old. This year she needed to go to JrK so our natural choice was to stay with Action Day and go to the Amber Elementary campus. We love it! The teachers are great and can tell you about her day. She loves to go to school to learn and play with friends. We would definitely recommend Amber to other families.

My son has gone through the PP Amber school, from pre-​K to 4^th. We have had the best teachers at each level! My son LIKES going to school! The day and aftercare programs are also excellent! I like that PP promotes the development of the «whole» child, not just academics, and love the very small class sizes. Everyone, from the office staff to the afterschool care, treats the children as they would their own. I just could not ask for a better place for my son!

My youngest daughter started pre-​school at Primary Plus Amber campus last year. We were so impressed by the quality care and attention my daughter received that we moved our 3^rd grader from another school to Primary Plus this year. The small class size has made a positive impact on our daughters ability to excell. The small campus has given us the opportunity to connect with the teachers & staff. The teachers are serious about academics but they find ways to make learning fun. My daughters look forward to going to school each day because they love their teachers! I would highly recommend this campus to anyone.

We moved to the Bay Area in 2005 with our two children, who were one and three years old. After doing some research, we found an Action Day center location in Mountain View and enrolled my kids there. After having experienced some poor daycare providers in the past, I knew we hit the jackpot when my kids looked forward to seeing their teachers each day.
We switched locations after a couple of years as my oldest son was ready for kindergarden. We enrolled them at the Amber campus, which has both preschool and an elementary school onsite. The care the teachers continued to provide far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I became a part of the community and enjoyed working side by side with the staff. My kids formed strong bonds with both other students and teachers. I also get many compliments on how start my kids are… and that’s not just me being a biased mother! :) Both of my kids have tested at least one grade level above average in reading!
In 2010, we moved to Seattle. Having to say goodbye was difficult, but we promised to stay in touch. During visits, we often stopped by to say hi and the teachers and staff were always genuinely excited to see my boys. We ended up moving back to San Jose in 2012 and never once considered enrolling my boys anywhere else. It was as though we never left. Their friends were there, the friendly faces of the staff were there… it was great seeing my boys so happy to be back in school.
In June 2013, we had another baby. He’s now five months old and is thriving at the Phelan location, which is on the same campus as West Valley Middle School (where my oldest son now attends). Ms. Sophie is FANTASTIC! I love seeing my baby’s face light up when he sees her.
I have referred people to Action Day/​Primary Plus in the past and, without any hesitation, will continue to do so in the future.

LOVE this place! The people here care so much for my daughter and her well being. Besides having the smaller classroom, they also have all sorts of activities my daughter can sign up for not only during the school year, but also during the summer. She has learned so much in just the first year at the school and I have been told by other parents who also have kids, how advanced my daughter is.

We love, love, LOVE Primary Plus! Our oldest daughter attended all through elementary school and our son is currently enrolled in Kindergarten at this campus. The quality of the education that is offered is exemplary. There is a real sense of belonging when you attend this school. Relationships are built, not just between the students, but between the parents and teachers, too. The class sizes are small which makes individualized attention feasible for the teachers. Many of the teachers that are currently teaching at Primary Plus have been there for 10+ years. Their love for their job and the genuine care that they feel for the kids is very evident in their lesson plans and classroom activities. There isn’t any place we would rather have our kids get their elementary school education.

My son started at Action Day Lincoln at 1 ½ & is now at the Amber location in their jr-​k program. I couldn’t say enough great things about this school. I love all of the teachers I have met & the office staff is wonderful. They actually know all of the children’s names «which is amazing» & shows how attentive they are. I have recommended this school to my Las Madres group as well.

We have been with Action Day since my son was 1.5 year old. We have gone to two other day cares throughout the years and have always found our way back to Action Day. With our son turning 6years old we have decided to keep him in the Amber Action Day School as long as we can provide to do so. The teachers, staff and fellow parents are A++. Our son amazes us every day with the things that he is learning. He can count past 200, can say all of his colors in Spanish, count to 25 in spanish etc. Love love love this school!
