I have two daughters that have gone through the process with braces with Dr. Phan and with both of them the experience was wonderful. My youngest child just had her braces removed in December just in time for Christmas! Now I have two daughters with beautiful smiles! The staff was very kind and helpful with any questions we had about the braces and the scheduling of appointments. A huge bonus was when we walked in the longest we have ever waited was 5 minutes and with a busy schedule like mine it is a huge plus. The price for the braces was very reasonable with very accommodating monthly payments. I give Dr. Phan 6 stars out of 5! Thank you Dr. Phan!

From an experienced dental hygienist perspective; Dr Phan and his long standing staff could not be more professional and confident. Dr Phan is not only the best Orthodontist I know and the only doctor I would come to for braces but he has chosen and trained a loyal and incredibly talented staff. They work so well together that as a patient you experience no gaps between people, it is a smooth, efficient and positive experience each time I call or sit in a chair. I am grateful for the confidence they install in me and for Dr. Phan’s insurmountable talent! The orthodontist:
Dr. Phan is highly knowledgable, professional, friendly and personable. He was the first and only orthodontist I trust to work on my teeth. He wasn’t pushy during the consultation, and let me think over what he recommended for me. He made me feel comfortable and at ease every time I visit the office. He is attentive to my needs and tries his best to accommodate them. Look no further! Dr. Phan is the best. By the way, he is the only orthodontist in San Jose that uses Opal Seal on your teeth prior to putting the bracket on to prevent white spots some people typically get after removal of braces, especially those with poor hygiene. Opal Seal has also fluoride to help prevent decay!
The staff:
Everyone knows the first impression of the office is the front desk. Janet and her sister is super sweet. They always try their best to accommodate what you need. Not only that, Janet went above and beyond answering my emails late night at 11PM when I had an emergency– my crown popped off (not their fault because previous dentist didn’t bond the crown correctly) so Janet did her best to instruct me on what to do and made an appointment for me ASAP. She continues to email my questions, even Saturday’s. I hope she gets a big bonus. The assistant Joel is awesome too! He is cool and accommodating– goes above and ahead to make sure you’re happy. Everyone is very punctual.
The office:
Being an OCD person, I must say this office is clean, spacious and stylish. Everything looks new here;)

Dr. Phan and his team are super welcoming and accommodating. The service has been impeccable from the very beginning.
The man also works wonders. Every other orthodontist had said I needed teeth pulled and none were pulled with Dr. Phan.

My son just got this braces off after only one year! Our initial consultation last year was very informative and we felt very confident in Dr. Phan’s expertise and advice based on his many years of experience and training. He estimated one year of braces and that’s what happened. He and his staff were always wonderful, personable and very professional. Our monthly appointments were always on time and Dr. Phan always gave us progress reports. My son’s braces experience was relatively easy, much different from braces back in my day. I highly recommend Dr. Phan!

I am so pleased and over joyed with the remarkable work Dr. Phan and his staff provided. My daughter was injured when she was 5 years old on playground equipment. She broke 7 baby teeth, and 4 where jammed and twisted. After her general dentist took care of removing the baby teeth & improving her oral health for approximately 4 years, her permanent teeth were extremely crooked, twisted, and growing in at awkward angles. Dr. Phan and his staff were kind, respectful of her condition and self consciousness, and extremely gentle. They were able to work with my budget to ensure my daughter received the care she needed. Her braces are now off, and she has a BEAUTIFUL smile. She is in high school and a drama buff, and she has gained the confidence in her dental appearance to grace the stage with her presence. In addition her overall dental health has drastically improved. I owe Dr. Phan and his team so much gratitude for making a beautiful young lady look and feel as beautiful as I think she is! Dr. Phan and his team are incredibly exceptional! In just a matter of months Dr. Phan and his time worked together to give me a bright beautiful smile for my wedding day. During this short time that I did not have braces, a lot of people noticed my new confident smile. I had always dreamed of having braces and fortunately for me I’m under the care of the best team! I cannot wait to continue my treatment and see the final results.

I can’t tell you how thankful I am to Dr. Phan and his staff. My goodness he should have over 1,000 reviews with 5 stars by now! My teeth are so beautiful and I will forever be grateful… not only did he correct my teeth quickly but his technology is beyond ahead of the game. I had braces twice previously and this experience was just amazing. My current bottom retainer is permanent so you can’t see it and my top one is like Invisalign that I wear at night. My retainer protects my teeth from grinding and is completely transparent. He also shaped my teeth the day my braces were taken off… he is so detail oriented it’s beyond me!

Dr. Phan, D.D.S. is a very good Orthodontic Specialist. My daughter has been a patient here for 5 years. She started out with a very complicated and uncommon problem, and he fixed it at a reasonable price. The staff here is very friendly and treats everyone like family. My recommendation is if you have Orthodontic problem go to Phan Orthodontics.

Phan Orthodontics is by far, the best orthodontic practice in the Bay Area! Dr. Phan and his staff are simply wonderful. My son had so many issues going on with his teeth and Dr. Phan has given him a beautiful smile! We made the best decision in switching providers and could not be happier with the results! With every visit, we were greeted with friendly smiles, never kept waiting more than 5 minutes, and whenever we needed instructions or discussion, the staff was professional, clear and always happy to help! It really is no wonder that Dr. Phan’s practice is so successful!

If there was a 1000 star option, I would choose it. Dr Phan has treated both my daughters for the past 7 years. My oldest needed both Phase one and Phase two to correct just a few dental issues. Dr Phan and his staff helped us work out a very reasonable and fair payment plan as we have no dental insurance. My youngest daughter has been a tough case as we discovered she had a deformed adult front tooth, which needed extraction, leaving her with a big space in the front of her mouth. We were devastated to hear from several dentists that she would need to wait or, get a bridge to hold the space until she is old enough to obtain an implant. After consulting with Dr Phan he came up with a plan of action to gently move each tooth up a space in order to close the gap. Not only did this save our family a fortune, but he was able to complete this work in just over 2 years helping my daughter regain her self confidence and giving her the most beautiful smile. Dr Phan is gentle, and truly cares about his patients. He becomes a part of their lives. His staff are always willing to help in any way they can with finances and scheduling. They truly are like family to us. Thank you for 2 beautiful smiles.

Finally got my braces off today after 5 years.
Dr. Phan has an amazing staff and is an amazing orthodontist that is very kind and welcoming. I have never had problems when visiting the office. I have no problem commuting from Palo Alto to San Jose because I know the whole staff treats me so well. When they are changing wires or doing anything, they are all so gentle and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Phan Orthodontics to anyone, I’m actually sad to have to say goodbye to the wonderful staff that works here. I’ve been his longest patient and I am happy to say so! Thank you Dr. Phan for all of your hard work. :)

With five kiddos and myself in braces — at the same time — I have had my share of orthodontic experiences. That said, Dr. Derick Phan is remarkable and I recommend you do whatever it takes to ensure that he is the orthodontist for your family and friends. I travel to San Jose from Lake Tahoe once a month. He’s that amazing.
Some background… I’ve run the gamut on orthodontic care. I’ve coordinated dental care for children that live full time with me and for step-​children while they lived out of state, and after they moved home. There’s been various phases and numerous doctors in multiple states. From most, my family received standard care (and sometimes sub-​standard, but we won’t discuss this here). Never have I been prompted to write a review until now.
My youngest daughter, the last in line to wrap up this family saga, adores Dr. Phan and his personable staff. I wish I had found Dr. Phan years ago when our family first needed attention. She actually looks forward to the appointments and choosing the new rubber band colors to coordinate with her current style, mood and fashion statement. Her braces are comfortable — she never needs to use wax — and she’s not once had anything break or need attention in between appointments. She loves the «heat activated» arch wire that speeds up the process when drinking hot beverages, but has the option to slow down with a cool one. Best of all? Dr. Phan is completing her treatment in six months. Really. Her braces come off on the next visit, and they were put on in December. (The most respected local orthodontist in our area quoted a minimum of 2.5 years for her Phase 2 Treatment, as did her previous local orthodontist.) While this may not be the case for everyone, it is the case for her, and she is thrilled! Her teeth looked amazing last month and in two weeks will be ready for her retainers.
Simply put… Dr. Derick Phan, and his practice, are exceptional.

Dr. Phan is an amazing orthodontist. He has been treating my daughter Marcie for several years now. He always explains options to us, so we can determine what options we prefer to go with. He also stays in touch with our pediatric dentist so we can ensure that they are all aware of the treatment options we have chosen and can work to it. We are very happy with him and his office and we highly recommend them!

My ten-​year-​old daughter, Emma, got her phase 1 braces from Dr. Phan in 2013 and got them removed in 2014, I appreciated that from the second we walked into his office, the entire staff made us feel welcomed. Dr. Phan is professional, friendly and passionate about his profession. He has an exceptional ability to relate to his patients and treated my daughter like family. As a father I could not be more pleased with his care and the high quality results of his treatment.
