PG&E

This is a very interesting experience, and has caused me to write one of the few one star Unilocal ever. On Sat afternoon, I called P G And E to find out when my next bill will be rec’d or did I need to get a duplicate bill, if it was lost in the mail. The person I spoke to could not have been nicer and also very helpful and considerate as well. I do not know if I have always just been lucky with all my calls to P G &E, but I do know a lot of people that have had terrible customer service and the overall Unilocal score of 2 stars, attests to the fact that most people have not had a very good experience. I personally, in the past have always been treated quite politely by the service rep and have treated the service rep quite well in return. In the course of the conversation, the service rep suggested, that since my last two bills were very high (due to more gas consumption) during three months of bitter cold, in the SF Bay Area, that perhaps I should think about making only installment payments of $ 128 monthly, in addition to the current monthly bill in full. I reluctantly agreed to do this, rather than just pay it in its entirety as I did have a lot of expenditures to deal with this month. As it turned out, I got my PG &E bill in the Sat eve mail on the same day I talked to the service rep. I thought the person that was helping me was a very kind considerate individual, that was trying to help a senior citizen when everything keeps going up and up, but the the pension remains the same or just goes down, as in my case. My bill due date is Feb 8,2016 and I mailed the 1^st installment of $ 128 this morning 1/25,so surely it will get there in plenty of time by the due date of ²⁄₈.
This afternoon I rec’d one of the nastiest robo calls ever, by P G &E. The robot was giving me all kinds of threats as to what would happen to me if they didn’t get my pymt on time (how they would disconnect my service, impose penaltys etc. after that call, I definitely would have paid my bill in full, no matter what kind of hardship was involved, but I already mailed the bill with my check, for the first of four installments. I have been a paying customer of PG and E for over 60 yrs and never have been late in my pymt, nor have I ever been treated so shabbily, by a robot, no less. Whoever made the decision to automatically send out these type of phone calls, through a robot, obviously doesn’t know what they are doing or how to treat people with the respect they deserve. In my case, this call was completely unwarranted and I will not defend PG &E as I have in the past. When my next bill comes, I will just pay up the complete balance, rather than do 3 more installments as I did agree to. If another situation similar to this ever arises again, I’ll just say, Thanks, but no Thanks. What goes around, comes around.

It’s impossible to speak with somebody over the phone. I’ve been calling them to try to speak with somebody about my billing for 5 days (customer service number 1−800−743−5000), and wait 40 minutes each time, nobody answers. I’ve sent them an email via their website complaining about this, somebody replied saying «sorry for the long wait time, but the system offers a callback option», which is not true, there is no callback option in the automated system when I select billing subject. I don’t know what to do, will I have to drive to their office in order to be able to speak with somebody???

If I could I would give 0 stars but that is impossible on Unilocal.I live in Santa Clara so thank God we have different utility for electrical but we still have pg&e for gas. We have not used gas heater for last half year or more. Not even for pilot light in furnace. I was just getting ready to start furnace and said let me check pge account online for status since I went paperless. There was surprise 160 $ balance. I called costumer service it was hard to penetrate their machine system and got to talk actual person. She said that’s service maintenance fee? They were adding every month 6 to 10 dollars not even consistent number. I was little confused no one came out to our place to maintain anything no labor invested. Just because my name is somewhere in their computer I need to pay for that. Ridiculous. I am going to disconnect my gas and go electric heating from Santa Clara utility. And people be aware of PG&E

The genius minds at PG&E, who replaced a power pole in our neighborhood today, clearly didn’t successfully complete the job. The power is out right in the middle of Thursday Night Football… MORONS!!! Clearly the 5 guys leaning on the truck should have been QA on the work…
Additionally, after being told that an intersection on a major south bay intersection was dark, the gal at PG&E suggested I call the police… I don’t manage the power lady! Maybe you should call!!!

Story: My boyfriend and I began living in our apartment sometime last year and we weren’t really notified that we had to pay PGE (odd landlord, different story). We had been receiving tons of PGE letters addressed to a former tenant and since it’s a FEDERAL CRIME to open other’s mail, we left them be. Turns out the last tenant and the tenant before that hadn’t paid PGE!!! 2400 FREAKING DOLLARS and you guys never thought to TALK TO US!!! We walk outside last week to a guy turning our gas off. It’s been FIVE DAYS of confusion, NO COMMUNICATION, and no showers or ability to cook when it’s 30 degrees outside and we WORK!!! I have never been so angry with a service in my life. Not to mention your phone representatives seem just as uninformed as your customers.
You people are so awful and I hope you get to experience what it’s like to not be able to warm yourself, your mate and your shivering dog for a week. Thanks so much for giving us zero communication.

Dear PG&E,
I’m a very disappointed customer who doesn’t have a choice about having electricity. I’m complaining because you are charging fee for paying bill online. It cost $ 1.25, and that’s more than what I pay for postage stamp. I’m practically going back to mailing to save that extra cents.

Its the worst business I have ever dealt with. Their twist your arm because they know they have the monopoly. Their customer rep are the worst out there, arrogant and hav a don’t care attitude. I never received a notice for shut off in the mail or any phone call with a voice mail, yet they shut the electricity and now slapped re-​instatement fee on top of fines. Considering going solar and getting rid of them. Worst customer service. Worst business out there.
This will be my goal to get rid of them in coming months.

Are you kidding me?! It took me WAY too long to even find this place to «yelp».
In short: Santa Cruz County voted down the PGE ballot for «Smart Meters to be installed in the county, and the County Sheriff chose to not enforce the initiative — thus allowing PGE to trespass on any Santa Cruz property and install SMART METERS. This action caused the average PGE bill to double.
I am a renter in Live Oak, Santa Cruz, CA., and because of the above information, I contacted my Landlady concerning these issues.
PGE replied to her saying in essences: If you want to have our «Smart Meters» removed, it will cost you $ 75.00 for the removal-​fee and $ 10.00 per month after the fact…
THE GOOD NEWS: after I informed my landlady that PGE trespassed on her property illegally, because Santa Cruz County voted down the initiative, she contacted PGE and had the «Smart Meters» replaced with conventional meters with no cost to herself as a homeowner.

Bravo to the PG&E crew that came out and replaced our transformer @ 2 AM on Monday morning while the rest of us slept. Transformer went out about 7:30 pm on a Sunday evening and within 45 minutes a PG&E service person came out to troubleshoot the problem. Turns out it was the transformer and only our house was affected. By 2 AM there was a crew out replacing our old transformer and we got up to «power on» this morning. Thank you guys.

I was doing the easy payment plan which they have and last month they charge me for my 1bedroom apartment $ 216 !!!
So after staying on the phone for hours and hours they return the money but I never get paid for overdraft on my account :-(

PG&E’s customer service sucks. I have now been on the phone for 45 minutes with an automated message system and finally it just decides to hang up on me and I get the dial tone. After 45 minutes still never talked to a real person. After that I go on this Unilocal page. This number seems to be the same automated response system but spanish only. If this page is only for spanish speaking americans than they should disclose that. If not update your information.

Give NOTICE when you work on the lines.

Just because its a residential area doesn’t mean we don’t have critical power needs… I WORK from home on my computer & I could have easily planned for this.

My issue with a business account for PG&E was resolved by the most courtious employee! Luis A. is great with customer service! 5 Stars!

Seriously why is this hard? If I call about account information, do I need to pray they are not on their period? I called 3 times today and got 3 different people trying to figure out the account transfer and what I owe. Finally on the last try a guy was very helpful and gave me the whole story about the account. Half the time the peopel on the other end are lazy or are already having a bad day and want to make it more difficult for me. I’m not trying to impose I’m just trying to understand why the effing bill is the way it is. Isn’t that part of the customer service line? Thanks for wasting my time.

if I could give them «0» i would. I got a bill for around $ 450.00…the bill before this was $ 71.00 … I call them to ask what happened? because last year during the winter (when we used more electricity) the bill was only around $ 150 at the most. She said they were gonna have a investigator call me. I get a call about a MONTH later from a DAVID something from the investigation area or whatever. There was NO investigation instead he has me go to my apartment complex to ask for the key to look at my meter, has me shut off the heat, look at the meter and then turn on the heat and look at how the numbers rise? that didn’t prove anything except that the numbers rise when you use electricity. I end up getting really tired of fighting this out and he says there is a PROGRAM i can get into that I only pay $ 100 a month. Granted, I understand I am getting fucked over a little because the other 8 months out of the year I usually only pay around $ 70.00 a month but I figured forget it at least I don’t have to keep fighting them over this; I can’t afford it but I’ll make it work. I then talk to my apartment complex and they stated the highest bill they’ve ever heard of was $ 240 and they argued that one (I live in a 900 square foot apartment, 2 bed rooms, one fridge, no pool, and nobody has medical issues. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THAT OUR BILL IS THAT HIGH!) I try to call David back so that he could help me figure out whats going on. I called him 10 or 20 minutes after I got off the phone with him, No answer, left voice mail and no call back. I guess he got his money so FUCK ME! I try to call him again 2 weeks later, he was on the phone, I left a voice mail and NO CALL BACK. I got my first bill from them, yes it’s $ 100.00 a month but they didn’t tell me that I OWED the full amount, my bill said my balance was $ 878.10! WHAT? I call PG&E back, talked to a nice woman that did what she can (it’s not her fault the company she works for is out to just rob people with out concern) and let me know that she will have someone contact me back very soon. I have never had an electricity/​gas bill so high and PG&E is not helping us find out why it’s so high. Instead, they just say «it’s your fault and pay» but it’s obvious that this is not normal.

PG&E sucks! Earlier this week I called on pg&e to come to my home to check on an odor that I smelled around my wall heater. I was concerned that it might be a gas leak. I was told someone was on the way. I was also told not to turn on lights, appliances, electronics, no lighting matches or candles, and air out the house. I made 3 phone calls that night as to the ETA. To my dismay no one showed up. When I called at 6 the following morning I was told that the work had been «completed». I screamed at the woman that NO ONE SHOWED UP AT ALL. I demanded that she send someone immediately in the event this was a serious matter. «I can’t gaurantee when they’ll show up» was their reply. I might have had a dangerous situation on my hands but the stupid woman didn’t seem concern. Needless to say I made about 5 to 6 more calls to get someone out to my home. I must have hit every call center of pg&e’s in the state. I also manage to find out from my boss that because of the fiasco in San Bruno there is suppose to be a 1 hour response time if a gas leak was suspected. Every one of their peeps informed me that they take potential gas leaks «seriously». BULLSHIT. I was surprised to find that my request for a response was categorized as an all day appointment. They’ll come whenever they feel like it. I managed to finally get a hold of a supervisor and she upgraded my situation as critical. It was only then that someone finally showed up. It had been nearly 24 hours from my original request. Luckily the odor was not gas. I have never come across a bunch of incompetent stupid fools as pg&e! It is obvious that they had not learned their lesson from San Bruno. Another disaster is looming. Wait and see.

I talked to a person named Ms. C. Echavia with PG&E today who did all she could do, to find out when the power outage occurred in my neighborhood. Do to the outage, I had to buy a new pool motor. PG&E give me ½ the refund and that was find with me. PG&E… you have a wonderful employee. Thank you. C Bacon
