Dr Carroll is very knowledgable, professional and gentle. His staff is great! Dr Carroll has done a tooth implant for my husband and myself.

Got my 2 wisdom tooth extracted. The procedure was very quick and painless. I was given pain killers but I never needed even a single pill. I was on liquid diet only for a day. The next day onwards I was able to have regular food. I would highly recommend Dr Paul.

Needed my two bottom wisdom teeth extracted. I was referred to Dr. Carroll by my new dentist. My experience was fantastic. Consultation was fast and very informative. Next day I was scheduled to get them pulled. The whole thing took no more than an hour. He is skilled, gentle and very thorough. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Carroll is a wonderful doctor who is the best dentist in the Bay Area (personal opinion)

Dr. Paul J Carroll, DDS is the stud among specialists in his craft. I was supposed to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed today, but after a last minute consultation with Dr. Carroll; we decided to leave my big bottom right wisdom tooth — as it provided chewing surface and did not impact the neighboring tooth.
*That right there, is one of the many reasons why I absolutely down with Dr. Carroll — giving honest advice and helping me understand future steps if I decide to do INVISALIGN*
As a prefice — I am the biggest pansy when it comes to anything dental related due to childhood nightmares at typical Asian dental offices in the 90’s.
This however, has been my favorite dentist experience of ALL TIME! From the day that I came in to do my consultation and watched the educational video; all the way to the operation today, Dr. Carroll and his wonderful & friendly staff have made me feel so comfortable.
The Extraction:
My appointment was at 12:00PM — I was called in at 12:30PM because a younger patient was taking a while longer to wake up from his operation.
12:35PM — Last minute X-​Ray to determine if all four wizzies needed to come out
12:37PM — Laid down on the chair, got the rubber band around my wrist to find that vein to insert the IV/​drugs hahaha
12:38PM — I remember telling the staff that I felt like I was on ecstasy and KTFO!!!
Around 1:30PM — I woke up, feeling no pain at all — just drowsy and euphoric from the anesthesia. I hit up my Mom who was picking up the prescriptions and we left as soon as she got back to the office.
FIVE STARS all the way! — No Swelling, no pain other than aches which are inevitable. I even had a sideways grown tooth too and I’m not in any pain post-​surgery.
I can’t wait to see the Dr. and staff again to say thank you during my follow-​up appt.
If you are nervous when it comes to Dental work like I am, then worry no more! I highly recommend Dr. Paul J Carroll for wisdom teeth extraction.
On a side note — getting put to sleep is bad ass!

I was referred to Dr. Carroll for a second extraction in four years. Now located in a new location which is even more convenient for me, I knew I was in good hands. Pleasant staff, beautiful facility and painless procedure. It doesn’t get much better than that. Highly recommended!

I’m glad I was referred to Dr. Carroll. He is a very charismatic man and talented surgeon; his staff were very welcoming and nice as well. The doctor and his assistants were very clear on how the operation would be performed, as well as the risks and what I’ll have to deal with afterwards. I had four of my wisdom teeth removed and I chose general anesthesia (IV). The operation was smooth from my point of view; IV was inserted and I was hooked up to monitoring devices. Next thing I knew, forty minutes had passed and my wisdom teeth were already gone. Now, my recovery is going great. Overall, great consultation and smooth surgery. I’m usually nervous when I go to the dentist but not when I visit Dr. Carroll.

Dr. Carroll’s office was an excellent choice for the removal of my wisdom teeth. I had all four teeth extracted and the surgery went very smoothly. I was nervous about having an IV inserted, but his staff made the whole process incredibly comfortable and seamless. He called me to follow up and I found him to be very informative and personable. Definitely recommend his office.

Dr. Carroll is an absolutely phenomenal dental surgeon, and his staff are equally fantastic. I was initially referred to his clinic by my dentist to have my wisdom teeth extracted, and suffice to say, I was terrified to meet with him. However, after talking with him about his experience and going step-​by-​step through the procedure, I felt absolutely assured that I would be in good hands. The next day, I opted for laughing gas (nitrous oxide) with the anesthesia, and throughout the operation, while I listened to music in one ear, he told me what exactly he was doing. He was also careful to avoid putting the tools or needles within my line of sight, so although I felt informed about what was going on, I never felt alarmed or frightened. I was actually glad that I opted to stay awake because the whole procedure was extremely interesting to watch, and because he didn’t put me under too much laughing gas, I felt back to normal fairly quickly after the procedure. He even called that evening to check up on how I was doing (not as great then, but eh, that’s teeth for you).
I cannot recommend Dr. Carroll enough! :)

I needed to consult an oral surgeon for a wisdom tooth extraction since my dentist does not provide that service. I researched Dr. Carroll on Unilocal and found him a very amiable person. After the consultation, I had a clear idea of the risks of the procedure and the doctor was very helpful with all of my queries. The extraction was performed about two weeks later and went very smoothly. The staff was friendly and professional, the office, neat and orderly. Though the procedure is expensive, I had a good experience with relatively little pain the following days. He even called the same night of the procedure to make sure I was doing okay. I have a followup scheduled this week and will most likely go back to him to remove the upper two wisdom teeth next year when I have a new FSA balance. The whole procedure from the time you enter till the time you leave could last an hour; so as Iona suggests, bring your iPod.

OMG! I’m the biggest baby when it comes to dental work. I break out in sweats just thinking about getting my teeth cleaned and x rayed… I was dreading coming to see Dr. Carroll! All for nothing! He was really great and patient and explained everything to me in great detail. The tooth extraction went well (I chose the complete «Go to Sleep» option). His staff was really nice and caring! I really hope I never have to see him again (professionally)…But if I ever need any more teeth yanked out, I’m coming here!

Dr. Carroll is like the John Wayne of oral surgeons. He passed through the flapping doors; lassoing my tooth and wrangling that sucker right on out of there. He walks around like he earned his spurs because he’s the best oral surgeon in town. I didn’t feel a thing (the anesthesia or the single tooth extraction) and the procedure was over in literally 120 seconds, just in time for another stop at the saloon. He must wrestle snakes in his spare time for practice because that procedure was a breeze for him.
To top things off he calls you in the evening to check up on your procedure and how you’re doing.

Dr Carroll is a great oral surgeon and I highly recommend him AND his exceptional staff. No one likes to have teeth extracted, but believe it or not my experience was actually quite pleasant. I had a molar pulled after a short consultation and I have to say that the procedure, after numbing, was quick and, best of all, PAINLESS!!! Bring your iPod with your favorite music.

Dr. Carroll has removed two of my wisdom teeth now and I’m definitely recommending him to everyone I know. His staff is knowledgeable and friendly, he has lots of appointments available and, best of all, he can do extractions quickly and painlessly (like 10 — 15 minutes!) He calls to check up on you the evening of your appointment and has after hours contact info and refers to other professionals whn he isn’t available. If you fear dentists in general you’ll really appreciate meeting Dr. Carroll. and if you’re concerned about pain he can sedate you for the procedure if necessary.

Though I was referred here by my dentist for wisdom teeth removal, I must say that I am completely satisfied with the entire procedure. Dr. Paul and the entire staff are very personable. The procedure was handled in the best possible professional manner. I know how difficult it is to get a good dentist and a surgeon in San Jose area, so posting this review to help the community.
