Deborah was wonderful! Came in on a last-​minute call, was informative, professional, totally nonjudgmental, very kind, understanding, and super helpful. After another suspected lice outbreak in our house, before we poured more chemicals on our scalps again we decided to call up Nitbusterz to get checked by a professional. Deborah did VERY thorough lice checks on my grandmother, my brother, and myself, and found that we were all clean! (THANK GOD) And it all took less than an hour — she was prompt, efficient, and very sanitary the entire time!
She gave us loads of info about lice and an amazing nit comb with our service, and even helped us figure out where the cases of itching might have been coming from this time around. I would HANDS DOWN recommend Nitbusterz to anyone facing a potential lice infestation. The expense is so worth it – to eradicate those buggers and for some peace of mind! Thank you Deborah!

Great experience. Very helpful. We had no lice after a thorough check. She shared how to prevent and even gave us an idea as to what was causing the head scratching issue so we could treat.

Both of my daughters had evidence of lice. Deborah came to check me and them because we were unsure if their treatments worked. The education she gave us was sooo worth the expense of this service. There is so much bad and false information on the web about lice. She found, and showed me, a small amount of lice and nits on both girls. (Luckily, the boys and I were clear).
I highly recommend her. Don’t take lice removal into your own hands! Leave to an expert and save yourself from months of a losing battle.

I’m sure Nitbusterz provides a great service to panicked parents when they show up, but my experience was not good. I understand that things happen, and I have nothing but compassion for the person who was supposed to come to my house and do a treatment. She ended up cancelling because of an ill family member. However, this was not a sudden thing – she was aware of the illness when I called. I called at 10:30 a.m. I have never dealt with lice before and was freaking out. She made an appointment to be at my house at 6:00 p.m. I wasn’t thrilled to wait that long but you have to get in line of course. I almost called to cancel after finding some places we could just go, but decided since I’d made the appointment with them I’d honor that.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. 6:00 came and went. Hey, this is the Bay Area, traffic sucks, I gave it half an hour. Then I called. Eventually I got to Deborah who said the other person (her name escapes me) was going to call me. She did call, and said her previous client had run over time and she had to stop by a hospital to sign some paperwork for a relative and then she could come to me by 7:30. Since I’d already stripped the beds and started laundry I decided my kids could just go to bed late.
7:30 came and went. Close to 9, Deborah called and said no one was coming. She was very apologetic and offered me a discount for the next day, but I couldn’t put my kids back in bed without being treated. It’s now 10 p.m., 2 hours past their bedtime, and we’re in the middle of treating them ourselves. I could have done that 12 hours ago, but didn’t because I hired professionals who, I believed, would show up and do a more thorough job than I could do.
Stuff happens. I get that. But letting me sit around all day, then pushing back the time, and then cancelling just is not right. It would have been better to say you couldn’t get to me today. Then I could have looked for other options.
My advice – skip an in-​home service and go to one of the «salon» ones so that you know it’s taken care of.

I freaked out when I got a call from a family member saying my 4 year old daughter potentially had lice. Of course I panicked because I never had to deal with this growing up. I ran to the drug store and bought every product I could get my hands on. I Googled for hours then finally decided to Unilocal for professional help and that’s just what I got from Nitbusterz. I called on Saturday and spoke with Deborah who booked me for their next available appointment which was Monday. Marcy came out to our home and was GREAT! Not only was she professional but she was beyond helpful. She treated all family members in the home and educated us on following up to help get rid of our pain. I wished I would’ve called before purchasing a bunch of crap they would’ve saved me a lot of money.

Update: following the all-​natural, every-​night method for a week & then every other day the week after that (with heavy cleaning for the first few days) they were gone in a week :-)

We have had nits before, and so when I saw them again in my daughter’s hair last week, I had a sinking feeling. When we found them in my hair too, I felt even worse — I knew it would be really hard to comb my own hair thoroughly. Still, we tried for six days: using Nix and combing daily. Finally, after a day in which the number of nits increased instead of decreasing, I felt so discouraged I knew we needed outside help. We called Debora because of her strong Unilocal reviews. What a great decision! She was available the next day, came right over and was so professional, funny and kind. She checked my husband and other daughter more quickly since we had not found any nits on them. Then she did a much longer check of my older daughter and myself. She did not find any nits (our combing had worked!), which was a huge relief. I needed a professional opinion to reassure me that we had dealt with the problem. She also showed us the difference between a «hair plug» (wax from the scalp) and a nit casing we had found the day before. She gave us tons of helpful facts about the life-​cyle and habits of lice. Finally, she showed us how to do a daily aftercare combing only 10 min. per day for two weeks. I felt so reassured. Next time we have lice, I am calling Debora on day one. It’s the best money I’ve spent in a long time! Highly recommended. Thanks Debora!

If you have lice, don’t bother trying to get rid of it yourself… save the time and money and just call. She is terrific with kids and teaches you how to spot and treat after her initial appointment at the house.
As for answering the phone, remember, you are the one totally freaked out with lice and want them gone. Take a deep breath, give her a call and leave a number. She will definitely get back to you and you can be lice and nit free!

Same problem — not answering her phone despite message that says «We will connect you to a Lice Specialist. Then nothing!»

A few weeks ago, my son was itching his head like crazy, and I had that sinking feeling in my gut. I spent an hour delousing him, only to see him scratching his head again this week. Uh, oh… to my dismay, the lice were back (note, the follow up inspections are very important!). I tried delousing my kids again, but was super paranoid that either myself or my husband were harboring the fugitives. So two days ago, I gave Nitbusterz a call. I got a voicemail, which was responded to within two minutes, and an appointment was set within 48 hours.
This evening (very flexible hours! :D) Debora came to the rescue! She was prompt, courteous, professional, educational, discreet, and completely non-​judgemental. She even brought a treasure chest full of toys to reward my 4-​year old son after his comb-​through :) And he said the combing felt like a massage, so that is nice!
After checking all four of us, we were declared to be lice-​free! All my paranoia was for naught. She left me with combing techniques (with great literature as well), an order to buy a vial of peppermint essential oil to use a few drops on my kids’ hair daily to prevent any future reinfestation (awesome tip! I love any excuse to shop Whole Foods), the Terminator nit comb, and I picked up a bottle of the Enzyme Spray to use during the inspection combing.
All in all, a GREAT experience, and my imaginary lice are no longer making my head itch ;) For $ 100/​hour for San Jose area locals, (a full «service» would take about 30 mins for my short-​haired son, up to an hour and a half on long hair, she says) I think it is a very reasonable price for the peace of mind and all the tips on preventing future reinfestation. That, to me, is PRICELESS.
OH! And the BEST PART is that they use ALL-​NATURAL LICE REMOVAL methods! Combs and enzymes, baby! My inner hippie is SO PROUD, and I am so glad to not resort to using toxic pesticides on my kids!
Lice are lousy– Nitbusterz are AWESOME!

Our nanny thought she may have seen nits in my toddler’s hair and, given that my stepdaughter has picked up lice at school a couple of times, I wanted to get her checked immediately. Debora was able to schedule a same-​day appointment and showed up promptly. She checked all three of us in the house thoroughly in about an hour. It was so convenient to have her come to the house as opposed to piling everyone into the car and trying to amuse a toddler in a hair salon.
While doing so, she also gave us a good education on the life cycle of lice, how they really transfer fro host to host, some very practical and simple preventative tips we can use, and so forth. It turned our we were all clear and that what we thought might be eggs was really just dandruff. But it was worth it for the peace of mind and next time (because there will be a next time) I’ll know what to look for.

I’ve been trying to reach her for 24 hours. Her service forwards to a full voice mail box and there’s no way to leave a message. Unprofessional. I’d be happy to delete this review or change it if she will fix these poor business practices.

I LOVE DEBORAH!!! After dealing with these incredibly annoying «visitors» for literally four months, I was at wit’s end. I had used Nit Picky in the past and had a bunch of issues, so I decided to call Deborah. She patiently listened and offered concrete, clear advice on how to eradicate the bugs … and didn’t charge me for the consultation. I feel like she has given me the tools I need to **finally** get them out of our lives. Thank you, Deborah!!!

Deborah is amazing! She is responsive, flexible, and very knowledgeable. She was on time, patient with my less than thrilled son, and once she cleaned out his head, checked the rest of us. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has to go through getting these horrible parasites.

Debora did such a great job with removing lice from both of my kid’s hair. She was thorough, knowledgeable and delightful to work with during a stressful/​embarrassing time. My kids were back to school the next day. I would highly recommend her. I called a competing company who said they would get back to me in 15 minutes, but called 15 hours later. Debora was amazing. I found out my 2 year old, my 4 year old AND myself all got lice and I was so stressed out because I had friends that tried to get rid of it on their own but weren’t able to. it kept coming back! I found her on Unilocal and omg she was so sweet. she came over, and helped get us lice free. She was patient, very thorough, taught us the after treatment which was so important and now 4 weeks later we are good to go! You can only imagine the dismay when we discovered that all of us somehow contracted lice. To the rescue came Debora and NITBUSTERZ. Debora was wonderful. After having another lice removal company cancel our appointment, I found Nitbusterz. My first phone conversation was very reassuring. Debora arrived on time and was clear in her explanation of the products she was using and the correct way to comb nits out of hair. She was great with both of my children.
