Monica is very talented and I got a lot of compliments after she cut my hair and it’s been a long time since I got any compliments period. She made an old ugly man look decent again.

Monica hired me for part time job hair stylist, first day of my starting to work @ 11 am shop was closed, I called her, not respond, client came asking why the shop closed ! She called her, she said not coming, again I called her, she answered, oh I can not open shop only for you! I asked so why you did not call me to not come. I worked many salons, not seen any business like this.

It’s Sunday 11:48 am you guys are closed. You hours says Sunday open 10 – 6. What kind of business is this?

Decent manicure for the price if you’re in a pinch, but not very clean and very little options of colors. This is clearly more of a hair salon than nail salon.
DON’T buy the $ 20 for $ 40 Unilocal deal that is currently being offered. It will not be accepted. She will argue with you and not let you get a word in when you try to talk to her about it. I was told to contact Unilocal for a refund and offered a mani/​pedi for $ 25. Ummm no thanks. I’ve spent enough here.

VERY DIRTY AND UNSANITARY FOR PEDICURES!
My mother was visiting from out of town and wanted to go get pedicures. Being a very busy mom myself, it had been a while since I had gone in for one and did not know of a good place. I noticed a sign for Monica’s while driving by the plaza and since it was close to home and seemed like a good location I thought I would give it a try. BIG MISTAKE!
We got there a little before they opened and were the first and only customers. The woman who greeted us was nice enough and started on my mom right away while I waited in the chair next to her. She began filling the pedicure tub with water and my mom stuck her feet inside, before the water was even full my mom gasped as some sort of bug crawled out of one of the pieces of the tub. The woman said oh, where did that come from and hit the bug right into the water where my mom had her feet. This bug was about half an inch in size, not just some sort of Nat but a gross looking bug. My mom was completely grossed out and removed her feet as the woman proceeded to drain the water and then re fill it. As she was re filling my mom decided to look at the tub where I was sitting that did not have water in it yet. It was FILTHY! At that point we decided we needed to leave this place. We did not want to chance getting some type of foot fungus due to the unsanitary conditions practiced by this salon.
To make matters worse, on our way out I went to throw out a piece of trash I had from my breakfast and the garbage can was completely full. I put my trash on top and pushed down on it so it would not overflow. Here comes the gross part, as I pushed down about twenty or so little bugs came flying out. DISGUSTING! It was obvious this garbage can had not been emptied in a few days or so.
We will never ever return to this business. And now we know why the pedicure price was so cheap. I guess it’s true that you get what you pay for.

I have gotten a haircut here once before, and it was fine. It was not exactly what I wanted or asked for. but it was a good enough haircut and only $ 20. I asked about color/​highlights and Monica said she’d been doing it for 20years and to come back to her for a special price. So a few weeks later I went back for highlights. I tried to tell Monica what I wanted (even tried to show her pics in her books) but she told me she knew what color to use for me based on my hair and eye color, and to trust her.
So like a fool… I did. A while later once the foils came off I had bright white streaks throughout my medium-​brown hair. Monica told me «those are highlights, you said you wanted highlights!». meanwhile, I’m looking like a skunk.
I had to ask Monica to go through 2 (15-​minute each) toners to bring them down and make it look ok. My hair still looked ashy but I had by that time been at this salon for about 3hours, so I was ready to go. I am going to have to see someone else for a gloss or something (my hair just looks too ashy for my taste, because despite the toner I still have lots of white streaks all over my brown head of hair). Even as she was fixing my hair, she was saying it was just my preference (not that the streaks were white, but that she just didn’t realize I didn’t really want highlights).
Monica charged me $ 60 for this ordeal. She really did try help make me happy with my hair color, but she just simply doesn’t understand how to give you flattering highlights. Monica thinks highlights = noticeable bleached streaks.
If you need an affordable haircut, Monica’s is ok for that. I would not waste the money on having her to do your highlights or color.

This place I gave a second try and not worth the walk or drive no matter how cheap the price might be. Skip this place for the sake of your look.

Tina gave me a great haircut, very pleasant and quick. Since I’m not very patient to begin with. In and out with a great haircut in 15 min. Will definitely return each month.

To start this off this was my first visit and I had bought the Unilocal deal they offered on Unilocal.So I went to use it today. I went for my nails and toes :) the deal was for $ 20 for $ 40 which I thought awesome to try a new place out. Well I went in and I was helped my Emily who is really sweet and she did a great job on my toes and I was also helped my Tin she did my nails and they came out great. I’m happy with the service they provided me, but here’s where I have a BIG PROBLEM… The owner showed up (Monica) at the end of my visit and I handed her my voucher that I purchased for HER business well she begone to tell me NO you need to PAY ME the money. I said No I paid Unilocal and that’s how the deal was set up, she kept going back and forth in regards she had no Unilocal deal and I needed to pay her. She made me feel real uncomfortable and I know I was right and I thought she had no manners towards a first time customer who gets her nails done once a week because I have a nail biting habit and it helps me to have shellac. Now that I know she doesn’t treat her customers right I will no longer use her services. Which sucks because I really liked Emily and Tin and the service they both gave me. To bad they have to work for someone like Monica.

I love this place! I have been going there for 5 years. Monica is great! She knows exactly what to do to make your hair come out right. She knows Color and Highlighting I was so disgusted when I saw this review complaining? Monica is a sweet and caring person and does anything to make the client happy. I don’t think its far to write this bad stuff about her. I love how she does my hair and she is very good at what she does. I would recommend her to anyone who wanted nice highlights and color.

I’ve been a costumer at Monica’s for a good three, four years now. She’s caring, sweet, and quite a ball of laughter. She’s attentive to what she is doing, to you as a customer, and you as a person. She’s always willing to fix anything that you may not be pleased with.

I love taking my kids here. Monica always knows exactly how to cut their hair. I am extremely picky when it comes to my son and daughters hair and have never come away anything other than satisfied.

Update: My hair stylist Nikki has moved to a new location a few months ago. 5-​star in my original review was for Nikki and to support her. Now changed to 1-​star is for the salon itself. I don’t understand why the own wrote a comment on my review today wanted to see me again in the salon for Nikki while Nikki has moved months ago. I’ve been to this salon for nail service few years ago and absolutely hated the customer service. Not a fan of the salon itself. It’s old and not very clean. I wouldn’t step into this salon again if it wasn’t for Nikki. Now that Nikki has moved so the review for this salon deserves what it deserves — 1-​star!

I love my stylist Nikki. She recently quit working at Fantastic Sam and moved to here. I followed her to this salon. I love the consistency of her work. Most of the time I only need my grey roots covered and she does really good job on matching my natural hair color every time. If I don’t need a trim she would tell me honestly. Her price is very reasonable too. Every time I go to her she would offer coffee, tea, or water. Now she is working for herself and I’m happy for her. I will only go to her and won’t attempt to change stylist again.

I went in to have my bangs trimmed. The lady that was working there said that the trim would be $ 5. She told me to sit down and Monica came in to do the trim. She literally took 1 MINUTE to do it while she was shoving all of her other services down my throat. That was very unpleasant. When she was done and I went to pay her she charged me $ 10. I told her that her other employee quoted me $ 5, but she said that her employee was new and doesn’t know anything. She refused to admit her wrong and was rude about the whole thing.
I would never go to a place that tries to swindle their clients out of money. There are PLENTY of other cheap hair places around that care about their customers.

I walked in needing a trim. Clean, nice staff… a definitely plus. A lady took me in back and washed my hair, while Monica was finishing another client. That was the best part. Unfortunately my chest length hair went to shoulder length. I tried to say NO… just a trim, but she was busy chatting with other employees and clearly ignored me.
When I left, it was not only over 2 inches shorter, but uneven by over an inch. I ended up calling Capelli in Los Gatos, to get it fixed the next day. Never again.

Never again. Chipped polish, only 2 employees working– had to wait at the chair while they attended to walk ins, no variety in nail polish color, materials used for pedicure did not look clean

I have been going to Monica’s for the past year and love it. Good prices and great service. Monica (the owner) always goes the extra mile for her clients.
