Magic Mechanical Heating and Cooling

The only reason we are giving 1 star is that he came out the same day we called. Furnace wasn’t blowing any air. After about ½ hour of what seemed to me as not enough investigating, Bob said we needed a new motor (2001 model) and would be around 700.00 with labor! I called 4 other places and none of them thought that year model would have a motor problem. Another company came out today — ½ hour total and replaced the capacitor — 115.00 for labor and part!!! WOW — what a difference. Magic Mechancial also has an F rating on the Better Business Bureau. I think he should give us back the 85.00 for his service call!

We had Magic Mechanical replace our furnace just last week. Their work was fine but you will pay dearly for it. On their website they say they take credit cards and have financing. Guess what? Neither of those were offered to us. When it came time to pay the balance (our deposit was made with a check), I went to use my credit card and Bob said they only take checks or cash. That’s a lot to pay when you have a $ 4800 balance due! Bob explained (with his hard-​to-​understand Russian accent) that he doesn’t take credit cards because the interest rate is so high. Huh? Credit card companies charge merchants about 1% of the total, that’s pretty standard. I don’t what he was talking about but I was not given a choice. I kind of felt taken advantage of. Also, he wanted to charge $ 500 to pull the permit. I went down and did it myself in less than half an hour and the fee was $ 129.50. Can you say «mark-​up»?

We’ve used Magic Mechanical Heating and Cooling Services for 12 years now. Bob, the owner, is a perfectionist. After installing our heating unit, he came back a couple days later to make sure everything was working properly. He employs highly skilled technicians, always do an excellent job, be it just air-​duct cleaning, or a thorough annual service. Richard, the technician that serviced our furnace this year, is polite and knowledgeable. I would recommend Magic to anyone who needs heating and or cooling services.

Used Magic Heating to install a replacement furnace June of 2009. The owner, Bob, did a great job of helping us choose the right option instead of jamming a product down our throats. The installation and service after the sale were both excellent. I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of ANY HVAC work.
