Lavazza Espression

I can’t even begin to say how disappointed I am with the service here. It’s ok in the daytime, but at night just horrible. You think they’d at least try knowing that they have competition down the street with Cocola, but no.
I brought my friend that is from Rome here. 45 minutes before closing they put away ALL the pastries on a Friday night. I asked them why if they didn’t close for another 45 minutes and they replied «that’s how we do it ». I even asked if they could bring me a croissant from the back and they said «no». I couldn’t believe it !
I have yet to talk to the manager about this but I am sure that’s not «how they do it» .
How embarrassing after telling my Roman friend how good they are, convincing her its worth driving all the way there from Palo Alto.
Well anyway. we walked down to Cocola.

Came here before the car show. Unfortunately they were out of croissants so I was a little bummed. The coffee here was superb! I love the interior here.

Absolutely love the coffee. Sadly I didn’t get any latte art that day :(but the flavors was amazing. My favorite coffee place so far.
Very nice ambiance. Clean, bright, and very relaxing. They have nice places to sit and work. I believe there was free wifi which is definitely a plus.
It’s kind of pricey. A grande is a little less that $ 5. Which really puts me in a dilemma! It’s so good but expensive!
Definitely craving some right now!

I love Soy Vanilla Latte’s. Every time I go to a coffee spot, this is my go-​to order 99% of the time. Since I had an extra few minutes, I stopped in here to order just that. The guy behind the counter tried to tempt me into trying some gelato but lucky me– my willpower was in full effect that day.
It was mid morning (10am-​ish) and the place was pretty much deserted except for a few random people scattered around on their laptops or talking amongst each other. My Soy Vanilla Latte came swiftly and I proceeded to walk out the door before I took my first sip.
The verdict: Slightly sweet, with a caramel vanilla flavor. Very nice.

The coffee here is always great – strong, flavorful, rich, not too sweet when I’ve ordered something that has a flavored syrup. A million times better than Starbucks and even better than a Peet’s because the coffee isn’t as bitter but remains robust.
My new favorite is the Orange Mocha Mio, which is a mocha with orange syrup. Although it sounds odd, it’s a rich and tasty treat that will be a hit with any coffee fan.
I’ve only had coffee or bottled drinks here and the berry scones, so I cant comment on the other pastry, gelato or sandwiches, but I wouldn’t hesitate to try.
Service has always been smooth. Could stand to get the counters wiped up a bit more, but nothing filthy or a health violation. The last time I came in there were beautiful fresh roses at all the tables and counters.

the smoke salmon panini is superb. got a little bit of arugula on the side. Fresh an tasty!
Cappuccino is made to perfection. I guess it’s the beans and the grinding that adds more character to the coffee itself.
Melba coffee with peach is awesome.
Ham and cheese croissant was also good.
Overall highly recommendable.

I’ve been here twice and both times were not good experiences. The first time I came to Lavazza Espression, I came with a friend and we each ordered a white mocha and a slice of cake to share. The owner/​manager that was helping us, brought us our mochas at our table. Our drinks came in these interesting cups but when I held mine by the handle, the handle came loose and I almost dropped the cup. I managed to catch the cup and only spill ¼ of my drink. While we waited for our cake we sipped on our mochas and found that both of them were luke warm. We should have just asked the barista to reheat the drinks but the drinks were not to our liking anyways and we didn’t want to be a bother.
After a while, we realized that our cake never came so we asked the owner/​manager and he apologized for forgetting. We should have have just asked for a refund because the the cake we got was horrible. The cake was stale. I appreciate that the owner/​manager came over to check up on us and asked us how the cake was. We told him the truth and said that we didn’t care for it and it tasted stale. He apologized and even brought us a slice of a different cake. Excellent service right there, but the cake he brought us was pretty bad too. I’m going to stick to Cocola for coffee and dessert when I visit Santana Row.

Nice place to sit in and have a relaxing cup of coffee with a sweet dessert. Love the environment, it feels fresh and exciting!

Stopped by here on a Saturday night with some friends to get gelato! It was cool that the place was open until midnight! It was also cool that we spotted a YouTube star!
There’s a lot of seating available for you to enjoy your espresso, pastry, or whatever food/​drink item (s) you decide to get. I ended up getting a scoop of chocolate gelato and the flavor was good. It tasted like dark chocolate. The gelato was a bit icy though. I could also tell that the girl that was scooping the gelato for me had a difficult time doing so. Poor girl. Also, the selection of gelato flavors was pretty limited and all the flavors weren’t labelled. Some of the flavors were running out too. :(
By the way, if you check in on Unilocal,you’ll get a sweet surprise! :)

Like Santana Row as a whole, this place tries to be faux-​upscale but doesn’t quite live up to its aspirations.
Don’t get me wrong, though, the décor is nice, modern, bright, and clean, and it’s a spacious, comfortable place to lounge about or hang out for a few minutes. They’ve got a pretty good menu of desserts and light salads, and there are quite a few coffee-​inspired dessert drinks too. The overall quality and value is average; you’d probably do best sticking to a simple espresso.

Lavazza is at the corner where I always thought would be perfect for a coffee shop. I got to try their Nutella croissant, and it was absolutely delicious. Later, I also came to get hot chocolate with extra hot. But the extra hot part was just hot. Anyway, the chocolate was right to my expectation, and I finished it in no time.
I’ve also noticed they have food, but I haven’t got a chance to try them yet. However, I was very excited to see it opening up to midnight. It’s a nice place to sit for coffee and cheaper casual dinner in Santana Row (as compared to other restaurants)
Lavazzo has a modern, cute look. They have few high tables and also sofas.
I’m surprised to see not so good reviews from other Unilocalers, but maybe It has something to do with their coffee that I don’t drink. But for the customer service, I was happy when I was there.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t a great as I hoped it would be. I’ve tried espresso before and it’s strong and not sweet. However, with these sweet concoctions, I figured any one would do. Maybe we went on an off day, but my espresso was just so-​so. I got the one with condensed milk and I absolutely love condensed milk in my coffee — but this one was just okay.
We also ordered some breakfast as we were waiting for our hair appointment at Drybar. The quiche was okay, but it tasted like something I could buy at a store frozen and heat up. I did like the addition of the arugula salad and they made a great presentation with the balsamic dressing. I guess I shouldn’t expect too much of the food since this really is a coffee place. I’ll give it another try and hope that my next experience is better.

Girl at the counter was super nice. When I ordered the drip coffee and found out it was not individually dripped, she let me change it to a cappuccino with no additional charge.
The cappuccino though, was mediocre at best. I’ve recently became a fan of Lavazza coffee beans, but this place doesn’t really do it justice. I don’t like my coffee sweetened, which is probably why I’m not too enthusiastic about what they offer, but their cappuccino was bitter (not just bold, but bitter) and the milk froth was coarsely done. I did sample their earl grey gelato though and the flavor was really great, so I’ll probably come back if I am craving gelato one day.
Ambience was good, decors was modern and there is a lot of seating. And free wifi!

I love Lavazza coffee so I was excited to see this place open.
Try the Espresso Nocciolato. It’s kind of like a Thai Coffee with whipped cream on top.

Was craving dessert after a huge sushi dinner meal. Felt like nothing around was open late so we decided we’ll give this place a shot. Lavazza Espression has specialty espresso which was strong just the way it should be. I liked espresso monte rosa because it had a fruit jam filling at the bottom of their petite cup. I did not like the espresso autnnale as much although I generally love apple spice flavor.
I also ordered three scoops of gelato and one red velvet cake. The gelato was basic and the cake was stale. The cake was also dried and lack in flavor. I think I am better off getting their drinks than dessert.
Overall, a good late night hang out at Santana Row. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Probable place at around Santana Row to hang out. They also have free wi-​fi!

The Espresso in Lavazza is really strong. I came here to share a simple cup of coffee after a biz meeting and what I got was not so simple! What sipped on was purely strong and delicious. I could taste espresso roast. I still hold my favorite coffee, Illy, as «the» standard, but Lavazza was not bad at all.
They also have gelato and dessert selections for a reasonable price. I did also like the seating arrangement which has a good feel to it.

Lavazza is is a perfect example of what Santana Row embodies — it’s lovely, chic and quaint, but it lacks a little… a little substance.
Came in here for lunch with a friend. It was neither busy nor intimidating, which was a plus. There’s no doubt that the owners put a lot of love into the interior design and layout of the café — it’s very modern and hipster, filled with many high fashion editorial shots and vivid décor. Their selection of food is modest and perfect for the ambiance they are shooting for. However, the prices are just a little steep for the portions they are pushing.
My friend and I had the chicken and goat cheese salad, a salmon panini, and a cioccolata chef. The chicken and goat cheese salad was well balanced with its selection of veggies and dressing along with being very well plated, but it was hardly enough to fill anyone up for lunch. The cioccolata chef is a little dessert concoction consisting of hot chocolate (A little on the luke-​warm side), whipped cream and custard (very flan-​like). It was charming — but again, a little pricy for a small cup. My friend did approve of her salmon panini, though again, the portion size is a little less than to be desired.
Lavazza is definitely a nice place to escape a large obnoxious crowd and simply hang out and catch up with friends at if you’re ever at Santana Row. I’ll definitely be back to try their desserts and gelato when I have the chance… and the bling, cause girl, you’re a little steep for me!

When I heard this had opened at Santana Row, I was quite excited. I’d heard they opened these shops in Chicago — but never imagined that the next stop would be… San Jose. Interesting, but hey, I’ll take it!
When I’ve visited, I’ve had macchiatos. And they’ve been very very good. Service is efficient and friendly.
The style of the place fits in very nicely with the general vibe of Santana Row — sleek and chic, with a hint of international (in this case, Italian) flair. [NB If you want a warmer, French-​er (?) vibe, visit Cocola.] Love that the whole place is walled in glass, so you can sit in the comfort of a warm shop and peoplewatch as you sit your stylish bevvie.
I should note that I’ve been here mid-​week, mid-​morning. It’s been pretty quiet, so I’ve had my choice of seating, and my coffee has come out quickly.
They also have a nice variety of Lavazza coffee for you to bring home.
If you want an espresso drink while you’re wandering around Santana Row, I definitely recommend stopping here. High-​quality stuff.

The **Nocciolato** is a tiny cup of pure decadence! Espresso, Nutella, whipped cream, hazelnut chips, and cocoa powder… simply divine. Although it is somewhat pricy at $ 3.59, it is totally worth it for treat from heaven. One of the staff promised that my Nocciolato would look exactly like it did on the menu, and he definitely delivered. He was adorable too, because he insisted on personally crafting my dessert even though other staff offered to make it. (

It’s unfortunate that other reviews seem to suggest inconsistent service. All the staff were very attentive, friendly, and eager to help, even though we came in just 30 minutes to closing time. A young lady kept giving us gelato samples of her recommended flavors, explaining that they were required to taste all their new flavors so they’d be better gelato advisors. The **Nutella Gelato** sample was so damn good! Growing up I had so much Nutella, and this treat really hits the spot and brings back so many memories of eating Nutella with everything.
Cute little place tucked away on Santana Row just past the LB Steak restaurant. The décor is cool and simple: vases containing a single rose on each table, sleek art up on the walls, mod tables and chairs. (

We loved hanging out here for the after-​party of the Veggie Grill Elite Event. I’ll be back again for sure to have a full serving of that delectable Nutella gelato!

There was not a line when we ordered our drinks, a single espresso and my iced latte macchiato. My friend’s espresso came within 5 mins, while my latte took 15 mins?! Mind you there are at least six employees diligently working, but the other customers received their drinks before mine. This may be the first Lavazza in the west coast, but I’m not going to be a fan of this rare establishment.
Pros– Nice décor
Cons– Slow service and customer awareness.
