D in 1979 from Santa Clara University School of Law, he developed an expertise in Social Security Disability law. Mr. LaPorte has received numerous awards for his commitment to the individuals with disabilities and others in need in our community. He was the 2011 Recipient of the Santa Clara County Bar Association Pro Bono Services Award. He was the recipient of the Philip J. Berelson Award for Generous Philanthropy in 2004, bestowed by the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley The National Multiple Sclerosis Society honored him as the Chapter Programs Partner of the Year and he has been named the Social Security Attorney of the Year.

Mr. LaPorte’s dedication to the disabled has been acknowledged by the California State Bar’s Consumer Business Review, the Santa Clara County Bar Association and the Pro Bono Project of Santa Clara County.

Mr. LaPorte is a Board certified Social Security Disability practitioner and a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR). He has been a guest speaker on disability law to many community organizations.

Terry helped me with my case about two years and I just haven’t had the chance to review him on Unilocal.Terry was very helpful with any questions I had always and filed all the paper worked that I required for the appeal.
When It came down to the week of court date he called me a few days before and made sure I had all my questions answered. From the get go he was very helpful and friendly to me and that is hard to find in a lawyer.
The judge we happen to have is very tough however, we were very prepared which helped a lot in my case. I was already getting a lot of push back because of my age however, I sustained a lot of injuries due to my service while in the Marine Corps. After the hearing we weren’t sure how it went because they judge was very tough and hard to read about 2 – 3 weeks later I found out we won our case.
The reason we won is because Terry had everything prepared correctly and ensure I knew how to answer the questions that were asked of me correctly. Terry instilled confidence in me months before our court date and he is the reason we won due to his experience and knowledge.
I was just like you all wasn’t sure if hiring lawyer is the best thing to do. I’m glad I did because Terry made the whole process very pleasant and now I do not have to worry as much anymore.

Excellent! Free consultation! He carefully studied my case, and won! I was only charged after winning. I didn’t have to pay out of pocket. Fee is taken out of my disability payment.
The only down side was the wait for my hearing. That’s more on the SSA side. It took about 18 months.

This review is based on a phone call I made to this company. I feel like the lady was not very helpful and tone of voice sounded as if I was bothering her. I called to try to get some information about SSI and rules and regulations around getting an inheritance.
Basically she said they can’t help me answer any questions around social security and that their attorneys only talk to people who get you social security denied.
If they’re a social security attorney they know the laws on that the lady wasn’t very helpful at all. When I asked if she knew syndrome that could help she just basically said to call Social Security but Social Security all they’re going to tell me because I already called them is that you can’t have more than $ 2000 and my mother is going to inherit money from the sale of her deceased father’s home. Ugh!
As far as a wastin my time to share this review…
when you’re a a business and you are the storefront you should answer the phone with a smile, you should have a helpful tone in your voice because it really shows that you enjoy your job and enjoy helping people after all you are answering the phone so you should be having the highest customer service skills possible!

I was rather disappointed. I was told that I had a great case however kevan spence had a reunion the day of my hearing and couldnt represent me. She forwarded me to a horrible alternative with another law firm with didnt fight for me at all and I lost my case. Ms. Spence office told me to she doesnt appeal unless she handles the case from the beginning therefore she said to reapply from the beginning and she will represent me. when it came to get he assistance she changed her mind with no reason. now i am back to square one with no assistance. Not supportive at all! big brush off

WOW !!! I am so impressed with Mr. LaPorte. He is the kind of man you hope for when you need a lawyer. I did a fair amount of research on Bay Area lawyers who handle disability. Most law firms don’t want to take your case until it’s time for appeal; and the reason is, they make more money that way. But it is NOT in your best interest.
I went to Terry before starting my SSDI application. He took my case and did all the up front work. I was Approved in three months time. I doubt seriously that I would have had such a great result if Terry was not in my corner. I’m sure that the SSA takes it very seriously when they know they are up against someone as intelligent and experienced as Terry LaPorte. Also, he is clearly about helping people, and not just making money. I am so grateful to him.

I filled out the online request for information on their website the day after Thanksgiving. I didn’t expect to hear from anyone until Monday at the earliest but at around 4:30pm I got a call from Mr LaPorte personally. He wasn’t even at work but he had happened to check email and saw my request! He listened to my issues, answered some questions, and set up an appointment for the following week. I had not done an initial application for social security or anything yet and Terry and his staff helped me every step of the way. They made me feel like I had a whole team on my side. They made the whole process so easy. My disability is not readily apparent but no one there treated me with doubt or anything other than respect and kindness. We came to Pam Vincent (at The Law Office of Terry LaPorte) confused and frustrated, after a year of dealing with the SSI Disability system, and twice denied for a claim for our daughter. Ms. Vincent talked us through the process and encouraged us to continue with our claim. She was professional and supportive. She answered our questions fully and clearly.
