History

Established in 1989.

Previously known under the name «Sterling Custom Interiors» (1989 – 1995), «Sterling Interiors» (1995 – 2003), and «JG Hellmuth Interior Design» (2004-​present). From upholstery and drapery to flooring, wall coverings, art, and furnishings, I have expanded my skills and the company offerings to remain competitive and challenged in the design field. I have been offering remodeling design since 1998.

Business Owner

From the business of Graphic Arts in the advertising business, the role of 2D design production provided a graceful segue into the business of 3D design of interiors. The bones of good design are shared by both: spacial and conceptual continuity; form; color; and focus. I have spent the last 34 years creating concepts for clients that meet their needs and employ these basic principles of great design.

He has some interesting ideas but he doesn’t really help with a limited scope job. We asked for help on choosing granite and possibly paint color. He returned with a 3D model of the house and billed us for generating the model. He didn’t have any of the colors in the model just a handful of paint chips and he wanted to sit around and try them in the model (all the while billing for time). He also wanted to go shopping with us and bill for the time.
As you can guess, at that point we dismissed him and moved on.
As far as billing for time BUYER BEWARE. We told him to go for 10 hours and he submitted a bill for 17 and expected us to pay. You would expect them to tell you when they reach the limit that you specified but NOT with this guy. WAY beyond the scope that we requested and outside of budget.
You also had better want to have a ‘staged’ quasi sterile look to your house. The only color options he wanted to run with were monochrome palettes and the ‘art’ he suggested were production prints. They may look OK but they have very little character.
He did made some useful suggestions for rearranging the art we have so we got some value but FAR short of what his services cost.
I could keep writing about the experience but I think I will stop here. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
