JCA Architects

I hired principal architect and owner Jeanette Coran to design plans to remodel my home. I credit her for being quick to grasp what I want, presenting good options and helpful pointers, and revising plans to suit my budget and needs. From what I’ve seen, she’s a very qualified and responsive architect who respects the existing style and merits of homes while she incorporates changes and updates to suit the owners. I also found her fun and easy to work with.
On the flip side, Jeanette’s small, busy practice can make it hard to keep projects on schedule, and like other reviewers, I found it difficult to reach someone at JCA by phone. Eventually I learned to call during the afternoon, to try other numbers in the menu tree, and to use staff email addresses. Once you know Jeanette’s qualifications and fees suit your needs, I suggest discussing how to resolve any significant communication problems or delays, then perhaps revise the contract accordingly. If I had done so, my experience with JCA might merit 5 stars in every respect.

I’ve been working with Jeanette at JCA for about 5 months now, mostly in planning for a master bath remodel, but also some related renovations of our master bedroom, and some updates to our living room.
Yes, this is a small one-​woman business and she does get busy between clients, kids and other family at times. However, what I love about Jeanette is that she is pragmatic (no, I don’t have to throw out all brass, and my living room does not have to be grey because it’s the latest trend), and really strives to understand what I want. Not everything has to be from the design center.
Because of Jeanette, my bathroom (in progress) is coming out more beautifully than I could have imagined.

Wow… I really liked the pictures on their website, but I think that’s all they have — just a website. I tried contacting them over email (twice) but never received a return call or email. Then I called them and left a message — but no one phoned me back. So… I guess my home remodel will need to be done by another company. Perhaps these guys are out of business since apparently no one is answering the phone or picking up their email. What a pity.
