Today, November 10, 2014, I along with another individual was placed in DANGER due to the unfinished work of Bob of Home Solutions hired through the Red Beacon program. On October 7, 2014 Bob from Home Solutions came to my property to disconnect the gas line from the stove appliance in the kitchen because Home Depot was delivering the new electric stove the next day Wednesday, October 8. He did disconnect the appliance and today when the gas was turned on for the house the entire house was filled with a gas odor. I called Pacific Gas and Electric Company at 11:21 a.m. who issued an emergency call to the home. We were told to get out of the house and we could smell the gas from across the street. Upon inspection, the gas serviceman found that the gas line was never capped from where the gas stove was disconnected in the main kitchen of the house. The reading was 25% and he did not leave until all the windows were vented and the level of gas was at 4%. The new appliance delivered was an electric stove and installed in the second kitchen and has performed as expected. Our lives were put in danger by this amateur of Home Solutions. ALL his unfinished jobs look like botched Tijuana styles. I wrote to Home Depot to complain and I urge you not to pay ONE DOLLAR to this thief and liar. I have nails sticking out of my new cabinets, and unfinished work on top and sides. The wrong sized trims looks horrible. The original job was to hang a door and the outside trim is unfinished and looks amateurish. He also promised to take all the debris away to the dump and he refused. One door was removed but he never put stucco on the outside of the house. He NEVER gave me an estimate or the promised receipts/​description of all the work completed or returned phone calls.
Every job was unfinished and poorly constructed. He charged me over $ 12,000.00 and never finished jobs telling me I HAD to pay him FIRST before any work was done. He broke into the house last week and stole my ladder with the copy of the key he made which he kept for months. I had not given that key to another person so I cannot blame anyone else. The house could have exploded killing me and my new contractor because the heater was in the basement far from the uncontrolled gas flow and the gas serviceman had to identify it.
I took a picture of the valve line and his official report that was turned into PG&E Company today. I notified my attorney today of this incident. He kept telling me he would finish but left with my money and ZERO solutions. He told me that he called a prior client threatening her on the phone and she called the SJPD. I took lots of pictures of all the substandard work. He took other jobs while he was at my home saying he makes $ 20,000.00 a month. He told Home Depot I ran out of money but I had paid this greedy man up front before he started. (I have witnesses)
Today I must add on to this review 11/​12/​2014: I had another contractor go into the attic to install a ceiling fan and insulation for the bedroom. I told him Bob had insulated the kitchen already but he said «you have ¹⁄₃ of ONE roll up here». I handed him my camera and I was shocked to see that the rolls of insulation I bought were never used in the attic! RUN – DO NOT WALK away from this fraud, cheat, crook and useless liar and thief. Save yourself.

This guy was a referral from Home Depot’s RedBeacon service.
We can’t give feedback on his work as he did’t get our job. This review is based on phone contact with rude and sarcastic customer service.
We purchased a framed entry door at the Home Depot store #622 and learned of the RedBeacon service.
Initially, we thought it was a great alternative and resource for Home Depot customers. Of the 3 that were on our list, we spoke with Bob from Home Solutions T: 408−396−3826 on Mon. ⁸⁄₁₈.
Bob had our number as Home Depot passed on our info so he called us. We explained that we are looking for someone to install our new entry door. He asked if we have purchased the door and we replied yes. He gave us a quote of $ 500.00. I thanked Bob for providing us with his quote but that we are going to pass. I begin to tell him my feedback as to why I decided to pass on him. Before I was able to start, Bob, in a sarcastic tone, replied, yeah, ok, (clearly not wanting to hear what I was going to tell him) and then hung up.
He obviously didn’t like rejection. I texted him to let him know that he was rude and I wanted to share my feedback with him. He is a handyman and not a licensed contractor. He is charging contractor rates at $ 500.00. Home Depot’s installation service is $ 400.00, installed by certified professionals, bonded and comes with a warranty.
I was also contacted by others on the Red Beacon list and was quoted $ 300.00 from a licensed General Contractor.
The call with Bob was unpleasant and surprisingly rude with outrageous rates for handyman prices. We expected that a referral or an affiliate of Home Depot would offer service professionals who are looking to assist customer needs. This vendor is a disservice to Home Depot’s customers.

I had Bob (my kids call him Bob the Builder) built my deck out back. The end product is great. It actually turned out better than I expected. How often does that happen. … Bob kept me informed through out the whole process. His pricing was also very reasonable. We will contact Bob again when we are ready to have more work done around the house.
Simple formula:
Reasonable price+quality work = great handy man.
