Green Design Nursery

Ava and the Green Living team are outstanding. They have sourced a beautiful collection of plants, flowers, stones forming a n indoor jungle that puts most any florists store to shame. I picked out a half dozen succulents and Ava assembled a beautiful pot I gave as a housewarming gift. Excellent service, good prices. The best.

This place was beautiful! I seen they just recently moved just down the way on Auzerais in between Race Street and Lincoln my boyfriend and I were able to meet Tai, super nice and very knowledgeable, he allowed us to shop for the plants we needed even though they don’t officially open until the 14. So much variety and at such a great price I will always support this local friendly business

Came her to find some succulents for my succulent obsession! Once I walked in, I was definitely overwhelmed by how many plants were in each nook and cranny! There were sooo many different varieties of succulents (on top of other house and garden plants)! Some were still babies and some were HUGE! Me and my boyfriend bought one plant… But too bad it’s expensive and pricey! Womp womp):

It was like walking into a green wonderland! So many beautiful plants, pots, and colors! What made this place over the top were the prices = so reasonable. If you want /​need succulents, then this is the place to go :-)

My wife and I wanted to convert our backyard to something the whole family can enjoy and relax in. We spent years collecting plants, pots, landscape items, trying to convert our yard into what we had envisioned, but it has always been lackluster. We needed someone who could take the realms and transform our complete back yard into an oasis, and that is what Thai, the designer did for us. He did the design, coordinated the demolition, and managed the overall transformation. It took a few months, but his attention to detail was evident, never cutting corners, and the result was simply breathtaking. You just need to trust his ideas and intuition, establish a reasonable budget, and be prepared to be amazed. My family and friends are all in awe by the results. Our yard looks like a spa oasis from a fancy hotel, an outcome we could never have achieved on our own. Thank you Thai!

Although there are many different pots crammed into this tiny space in the Rose Garden neighborhood, there really isn’t a good variety. The theme is Asian influenced with a smigen of more classic styles. There are also interesting plants available, but again, not a large inventory.

I visited this place a few weeks ago looking for a few plants for my back yard. I met with a women who informed me that she was one of the owners and proceeded to walk me around her yard to show me her inventory. When I was getting ready to leave, she offered to have her brother Thai (whom she claimed is a Landscape Architect) come to my home and give me an estimate for designing something that would work for my specific yard conditions. The following day I called in an attempt to schedule an appointment and she gave me Thai’s number and asked me to contact him directly, which I attempted to do. After several days without a return call from Thai, I received a text message that provided me with their banking info, which was obviously not meant for me. I responded and politely let them know that they had made an error, but that Thai had still not returned my call. I received a text message apology and was assured that her brother would contact me soon. After 1 more week went by I still had not received a single call. I was getting frustrated, so I sent her a text indicating that it appears that they really do not appear interested in my business. And guess what… NO REPLY!!. Why would any reputable company offer a service to a potential customer and then proceed to ignore them? I understand that anyone can make a mistake but after multiple attempts to work with this company it is clear that these people don’t have a clue on how to service their customers! Or worse yet, they just don’t care.
My advice would be to avoid dealing with this company at all costs and find a professional company that you can trust. If Green Design ignores its customers prior to a sale being completed, you can only imagine how little attention and service this amateurish outfit will provide you once the sale is finalized.
Total waste of time!

Oh My Gosh. I was looking for a garden with a variety of succulents and oh boy were we in for a surprise. Green Design is so beautiful, I felt like I was thrown in paradise and out of San Jose for some time. They have such a wide variety of greens here, whether you are looking for small plants and flowers or even if you want to plant trees galore. Prices are also very reasonable, and the owner was extremely kind to us and even gave us free crates to take our plethora of succulents in.

I remembered driving by this place and wanting to stop by. It also looks great on Unilocal.That is until I called to ask if they carry any Jujube trees. The lady who answered the phone came across as extremely impatient and curt. That just killed any desire I ever had to shop at this nursery.

I’ve dealt with the gentlemen here and his he is arrogant. I asked simple questions about the palms there and he would laugh and make a joke, not answering anything, walk off, then come back and repeat.

This family run business is AMAZING! They desire to fulfill and create something beyond what you could imagine. There design process and plant collection have no equal. The crew comes to your place with a positive demeanor, obvious that they enjoy what they do. Duey, Jon, and Thai are very good team and succeed in creating a Vacation destination in your very own backyard.

Wow wow wow wow WOWWW!!! Absolutely love this place!!! I recommend coming here just to roam around and calm down. It’s an attraction in itself. I feel like I should be charged to come in here. Haha. I don’t know if many know but the owners actually live here. Can you believe that?!? They also don’t mind how long you stay inside as well. Anyhow everything they have in here are so beautiful. Even the pots they sell!!! It’s very expensive though… But for how well the plants are loved and how big they are, it’s worth it!!! Unfortunately my bf and I don’t have a house of our own. So no outdoor plants for us :(they have great ideas of how to set up your backyard and geez, I bet they have the best house parties!!! They even have a quail coup and huge parrots!!! They have a lot of exotic plants and statues and fountains. They also have a koi fish pond!!! I’ve included tons of photos. You have to come see it for yourself. A really nice garden. To even take someone to a date!!! They own so much land!!! It’s huge!!! Go and stop by!!!

Went here at the recommendation of my landscaper because we were going to transplant some of my yard’s flowers into large pots, and it took two tries driving in the vicinity of 280/​Meridian before I realized where it was. just past little businesses and across from the Saddle Rack condos, there’s an oasis tucked away. I wonder how many people in this neighborhood don’t even realize it’s here. I’m happy to say that I found what I needed but if I knew a whole lot more about growing and maintaining plants, I’d buy one of everything! The birds were truly a magical addition that added to the jungle feeling, esp. when the macaws got a little noisy. With waterfalls, a huge lilypond with koi, and several pavilions all around, it almost feels as though I slipped through a time warp into a magical place. I may consider a visit here to be cheap therapy in future!
AND over on The Alameda, next to the White Elephant, they have a second shop with more indoor plants and décor. I found an amazing little air plant that the young woman told me is called an «ant plant,» and it is so adorable and takes very little care. It has been planted with a little orchid soil in a shell, and hangs from a wire, so it can be a dainty draping kind of plant. It’s one of a kind and may become my go-​to thank you or birthday gift for friends.

THAI IS AN AMAZING LANDSCAPE DESIGNER!!!
When I first met Thai, I had only a $ 1,000 budget to make my center backyard fence area look tropical. Since I lived so close to nursery, he offered to come by to take a look and offer his advice on plants. Well, he politely informed me that I would need an additional $ 2,500 to get the look I wanted. But, that was including rich organic soil and irrigation! My husband agreed and that was our beginning with Green Design.
So, that section was completed and me and my husband were blown away, WOW!
Then of course you have continue with the rest of the backyard planting. Oh, then we had a beautifully crafted Tea House, made with redwood and tropical looking roof on it. Added a dual ceiling fan, light and speakers! PARTY TIME!
Decided on redoing the raised veggie garden bed that was ugly. Now, it’s a beautiful redwood box with the addition of more organic soil which plants LOVE! YES, my budget went way over, but what the enjoyment we get of of it now is PRICELESS! It’s our PARADISE at home.
Well, backyard is fab, but the front yard needs to be redone!!! Yes, tropical in front now! Neighbors love us with our gorgeous plants offering nice curb appeal!
Can I just brag about that my whole backyard looks like Maui!!! And also the front yard now! I will post pics soon.
I really appreciated his talented crew, who are very polite and don’t leave a big mess laying around at the end of the day!
Thai also offers free replacement of plants, which is very nice! He had replaced a few of mine due to our last harsh winter with no problem at all. Now, that’s true customer service!
Do yourself a favor and let Thai and his crew redo your whole outdoor surrounds! It makes a huge diffenrence to come home from work and walk into a gorgeous LOW MAINTENANCE YARD!
WARNING, it’s infectIous once you see his amazing design talent, you will start with one area and then it’s like you can’t get enough! Our neighbors have hired him now!

A lot of plants, mostly palms, bonsais and succulents. I was able to buy some large succulents that I was not able to find in other nurseries in the Bay Area.
The quality of the plants wasn’t that good, though, with most of the plants having dry leaves or cuts.

I wish there was a funky box you could check on reviews. I love this place, its magical. Even if you don’t garden, you should come and walk through to experience something completely unique.

Superlative adjetives fail !! There just aren’t enough of them in any language to adequately describe this most beautiful and unique nursery. Not only is there an incredible inventory of plant material but the manner in which it is displayed, the manner in which it is laid out, makes you feel like a most special and honored guest in someone’s gorgeous, private garden! Really! I will be a repeat customer, for the rest of my life. Really! Go. Now. Run!

Want to visit truly magical gardens and see plants «smile?» If so, you absolutely must make a visit to the amazing Green Design Nursery at 415 Meridian Ave. San Jose. They display and sell the most gorgeous supply of tropical plants, palms, foliage and interesting/​unique succulents that I have ever seen… all beautifully & artfully arranged along with structures, statuary & huge pots (for sale), water features with water lilies throughout the over 1 acre gardens with surprises at every turn… including the most beautiful birds (family pets). Tip: Don’t miss & ask to see the pheasants from China — the most colorful birds ever. It is a sensory feast and little piece of Zen heaven. There you are sure to meet Thai, the owner and a landscape designer, or one of his several Pham family members who all work in this great «family business» — Vietnamese immigrants who are the most lovely people one could ever meet… and talk about an American «success» story — their’s is truly awe inspiring.
Then for a «second treat» don’t miss their also amazing retail store: Green Design in the Willow Glenn area of San Jose at 1341 The Alameda. Gorgeous interior displays, wonderful Asian antiques, gifts, home and garden décor, fabulous pots, artwork, plants… and more incredible (pet) birds. Sharon, Thai’s sister and partner, runs the store and is an absolute delight! Sizable showroom space opens to back area with 30 foot ceilings, sky lights, packed to the brim with amazing plants and wares, soothing water features and tranquil background music… another Zen-​like experience and «must see»!
Finally I learned about Green Design by a client whose back yard «make over» by Thai Pham left me in awe. I walked into this amazing tropical inspired jungle of enchanting walkways, gorgeous stone work, man-​made pebble lined stream with suspension slab bridge, raised garden planter bed areas, trained vines, amazing palms, banana trees, succulents, sexy low-​voltage lighting, amazing swimming pool, paver patios, natural stone walls, stunning plantscapes and foliage color combinations that were true «eye candy.» Huge and unique garden pots beautifully planted and staged, an amazing custom built wooden pergola… and so much more. Thai is the extremely talented young Berkeley-​grad landscape designer — he is the most humble, down to earth, and hugely talented individual one could meet. Go visit their nursery, and if you love this aesthetic, have Thai design an amazing front or backyard make-​over for your home… you will be blown away by the end result. They have captured a unique style and niche in home & garden furnishings, plants and design. They hand pick every plant and have chosen varieties that stand up to our climate and can withstand an occasional freeze. You must absolutely go check them out and bring family and friends for a truly unique & fun experience!

Succulents, palms, and bamboo galore! We came for the succulents and were *not* disappointed! This place is seemingly endless: agave, aeoniums, echeveria, kalanchoe (including a variegated one, which I couldn’t resist taking home with me). Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you turn some corner and – bam – a whole other cool area that you hadn’t discovered yet!
The only downsides were that a few areas weren’t as well cared for as others – just plant debris and stuff, though, no big deal – and that there aren’t (m)any small plants for amateur/​broke collectors like yours truly. Still, these small downsides are dwarfed by how amazing this is. If you like Flora Grubb, but want a less crowded, less kempt version (with more seating, plus birds, minus Ritual – alas), you’ll love Green Design.
