Four Points by Sheraton San Jose – Silicon Valley

Seemed like an average hotel and a good 3 stars. The actual room was big and the two queen’s were big, but it was just me so it didn’t matter, but it could be good for a whole family of 4. The bathroom was small, but I liked that the sink was outside. The only problem was when I got the bill, the daily rate was ~$ 20 higher/​day than what I had booked it for. They fixed it quickly, but had I not noticed, I would have gotten ripped off by ~$ 100. There is no breakfast or anything, just average coffee. They have those common soap/​shampoo/​conditioner dispensers in the bathroom, and the shampoo was empty for the 4 days I stayed there. Also 2 out of the 4 days the coffee was empty and they only had decaf. So they could use some help in the attention to detail section. But since it was the cheapest rate in the area, I guess I got what I paid for. You need a car if you stay here as that restaurant charges ~$ 15 for an omelet.

Don’t stay here. It’s shady.
They automatically charge your card $ 150.00 when you check in. They said it’s for in case you break something. That is a lie. Most hotels will hold your credit card and charge you a fee if there are damages, but they don’t charge you the fee automatically. They said it’s charged, then will be refunded to your credit card company 5 – 7 days after you check out. So essentially, they take $ 150.00 of your money for 5 – 7 days, then credit back to you. There is no mention of this automatic $ 150.00 fee charged on their website during the registration/​payment process. This is a fraudulent practice.
The people here are shady due to this practice. The hotel also does not live up to the Sheraton brand. It’s more like a La Quinta, or Best Western. It has been repainted, but you can still see that it’s old and has dirty areas in the room. Our room had black stains on the carpeting. The air conditioner/​heater had a sour smell when you turned it on so we had to leave it off. The bathtub occasionally leaked water onto the bathroom floor. The room felt old and dirty.
Overall, this hotel is probably more like a 2 – 3 stars because it’s average and the price isn’t as high as hotels closer to the big city. But the shady practices brings it down to 1 star. I wouldn’t stay here in the future because it wasn’t a comfortable experience. We wanted to leave asap, but couldn’t because I reserved this room ahead of time and there were no refunds. STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Wish I could put a 0 star here. I was turned away because the hotel was booked but was told I could not get a refund. RJ the supervisor at the front desk was rude, and extremely unhelpful. Do not stay here,

A had s super, great experience at this hotel. I got an amazing deal for NYE through
for about $ 88.00. Once I arrived at the hotel, I wasn’t quite sure I was at the front desk, but I was. I really want to use all the facility has to offer when I stay at a hotel.
Which is what I did in this case. The fitness center might be somewhat small, but it has the great basics for cardio and weights, towels, wipes, water, and even a restroom inside, along with a TV in the main work out area. After my work out I went outside to the pool spa area with the hot tub being outside also. In this outside area is a shower.
The room itself rocked!!! The beds are way, totally super comfortable. I love having so many pillows. The room was super clean, yes, you will here people above you, nothing new there. The bathroom sink is seperate from where the toilet shower area is. Inside the shower area is shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, not in tiny bottles, but in dispensers. Which I really liked that a whole heck of a lot. This is a great place to stay. I stayed here to go to a NYE party elsewhere in San Jose. I didn’t get a meal as part of the deal I got, no biggie wiggie though. COME STAY HERE, I’M GLAD I DID…

It’s really clean now. They recently renovated the place. Nice rooms. I will stay here again.

**ABSOLUTE TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT**
Upon arriving at the Sheraton Four Points in South San Jose, it is obvious that the Lobby is newly updated and actually looks really nice, but everything else goes down hill from there. The Manager Luiz Lapido and his employee Jaya Shingal are absolutely incompetent and are liars. I have written proof of this.
I wanted to book my friends and family here for my wedding in mid-​November, and when I emailed their Director of Sale and Management (Jaya), it took a WEEK to get back to me. Just for an inquiry. I was told that they offeres shuttles and that the cut off was Oct 31 to have my final numbers. There was no mention of a contract or anything. And then early Oct rolls around and lo and behold, they didn’t even mention that the shuttles were discontinued and that ALL the rooms were booked that weekend! Luiz said there was not ONE room available at all. So he said he would do all he can to help me find accommodations and that he would get back to me. I never heard from him again, even after sending back 2 separate emails and calling him.
But here’s the kicker, I went on the website and was able to book a room for that weekend. (Their room are actually fairly average. Some of the furniture you can tell have been recently updated probably in the past year so.) So they either purposely have terrible customer service and/​or completely incompetent and not know how many rooms they have and if they’re booked or not. Either way, avoid this place at all costs. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Do not get sucked in by their prices. The Marriott down the street is cleaner, nicer, has competent employees, and doesn’t lie to you.

Holy Moly. This was the most bizarre hotel experience I ever had in my life. Maybe I should start by saying that I worked front desk at a 5 star 5 diamond Park Hyatt in San Diego, so maybe my expectations were too high. Scott the front desk agent was a hot mess… maybe also a potential serial killer? Weird guy. What I did not appreciate was him cutting anyone off who was trying to ask a simple question! The key to hospitality is to listen with the intent to understand NOT with the intent to respond. Amazing words to live by. The horrible part was that he was training a new employee, and apparently his dismissive attitude rubbed off on her as well. Ugh, I wanted so badly to tell these people that they know nothing… NOTHING about hospitality. Things were just weird. like really weird. Apparently the night we were staying, there was some sort of domestic dispute. All I know was that someone had blood on them and the police were there. Anywho, basically all bets were off at that point. Scotty was having a sit, talking to a police officer while his trainee was left trying to handle a line of 10 people (as mad as she made me earlier, I do feel for people working a front desk for the fist time. It’s scary). Scotty boy looked like he was about to have a meltdown. it was great. I feel like I am totally rambling. Long story short, we check out the next morning with different staff (who were much friendlier btw) and told them about our experience. My sister asked for Scott’s last name annnnnd *drum roll* … HE QUIT!!! hahaha I just busted up laughing. I don’t know exactly what happened that night, but I am pretty sure that place is better off now. From now on, I think I will stick with Hyatts.
Oh I also forgot to mention that a couple guests overheard our conversation in the morning and agreed that Scott and his assistant were rude… and a bit weird.

«For your safty,» WTF!!!
Booked a room here online after seeing it was a 3 to 3.5 star hotel for around $ 100 per night. Long story short: they admitted they were very short-​staffed on the busiest night of the year (thanksgiving eve). The place was booked and they clearly did not have an adequate number of people on hand. Next, they brought up a folding bed for my son, and it was just gross: the bedding was inverted (comforter on bottom, fitted sheet on top… WTF), plus there was a stray HAIR on the top sheet, which indicated it had not been washed. I woke up the next morning, and saw that i had slept on an apparent blood stain on the top sheet of my bed (see attached photo). Plus there were shoe marks on the bed dressing (see photo). How disgusting is that??? Finally, on the busiest travel day of the year (day after thanksgiving), their ELEVATORS BROKE and signs were posted throughout the hotel that stated we should all take the stairs, «For your safty» (sic) (see photo). I saw elders and small children struggling down three flights of stairs with their luggage, with no staff in sight to offer even minor assistance. NEVER AGAIN.

We chose this location because our friends from Seattle were also staying here. We made our reservations after reading all of the reviews, mostly negative. However, we called ahead and were assured we would not be disappointed as the hotel is under new management.
We enjoyed a very nice accommodation. Our room was clean even by my standards (I’m a germaphobe) and the bed was quite comfortable. Even though our room was near the elevator we were not disturbed and slept well.
The location is great and close to everything you may need. My husband met Luis, the GM upon check in and told him of our reluctance to stay after we read the reviews, again we were assured of a wonderful stay and we were not disappointed. We are hoping our friends are able to receive the same room rate as we received, since we wouldn’t have stayed there if they hadn’t booked here first.
I would definitely recommend giving this hotel a try! The staff are all very professional. The hotel is clean and very easy to access!

RAMON is NOT educated about the ADA Law regarding service animals! He needs a refresher course before the company gets sued because of his ignorance and lack of training. I had made reservations online and specifically indicated I have a Service Dog, and it did not show up at my check in, yet, Ramon challenged it. He asked me for tags on my service dog-​who was wearing an orange vest with a badge on it, and even though he had a print out of the ADA Law, he still was confused about what he could legally ask. Beautiful place staffed badly! Bad business. It was too late for me to fight, he wasn’t budging, I turned around and left. His manager will hear from me tomorrow…

Went to a presentation hosted in one of the banquet rooms. As soon as you walk in the hotel it smells like cigarette smoke.

I’m staying at this hotel tonight. I checked in during a huge rush with about 10 people ahead of me. Scott was at the front desk alone but he handled the crowd very well. There was an issue with my reservation so i had to stick around a little later, no problem, it happens.
Several minutes later Shannon comes to help reduce the line.
The room was very clean and comfortable. I’m only here one night, I wouldn’t mind staying another.

I usually am pretty easy to please but I really felt the need to write a ‘not so great’ review of this hotel. The staff was great and the rooms were pretty nice. The only complaint I have about the room is that there is no refrigerator. For the price we paid (over $ 300 per night) I felt like that was a missing piece. The beds were comfortable and the front desk staff was very accommodating and even moved us so that we could be closer to the elevator due to mobility problems with one of our party.
The major complaint I have is with the pub/​restaurant that is on the grounds across the way from the hotel. i don’t know if they are part of the hotel or not but we had slow service all 3 days we stayed. Often there was only 1 person hosting, seating, and taking orders, the same person! We waited sometimes for 20 – 30 minutes just to get our orders taken. Then there was often only 1 (sometimes 2) chef (s) handling the entire restaurant. The wait person was great and it was not his fault but he was alone to handle everyone. We had to ask for more coffee and juice and by the time he came around we were ready to leave. Whoever is in charge of staffing at the restaurant had better rethink the setup. It took way to long to get our order taken and to be served.

This Sheraton is NOT all that. The only thing that they can brag about is the room and how nice they are. I will give them that credit.
I came here in October with a friend that made a reservation. When we came the parking was TOTALLY crowded!
Luckily when we came the elevators were back working since all recent reviews talked about the elevators being out of service. Oh Lawd! I can only imagine how that was!
I was totally upset when walking in because my friend had paid for the hotel using a
but what they DON’T tell you is they put a $ 150 hold on your card! WTF! OK… I’ve heard of $ 50 to $ 100 but really $ 150? That’s more than the room itself!
I called to put the hold on my card but the lady at the front desk (Shannon) stated that she couldn’t take any information that I give over the phone… it wasn’t like I wasn’t going to be coming… I was literally an hour and 30 mins away but whateverrr!
When I arrived she stated all the rooms were taken… well duh! So because of all the damn trouble I went through we got a king suite… Fancy huh?
But then upon leaving… even after I asked Shannon at arrival if breakfast was included in our room she stated yes… the next day I asked the front desk gentleman for breakfast and he stated that wasn’t included in our room payment… WTH!!! We paid $ 120 for a night and on top of that $ 150 hold and a sista can’t get breakfast??? Where they do that at? ONLY AT THE SHARATON!
NEVER AGAIN SHERATON! I had better staying at a Holiday Inn!

~King Suite room was legit
~Came with a small kitchenette
~In the bathroom shower they provide shampoo, condition and body shower
CONS:
~$ 150 hold for the room
~The don’t accepted 2^nd cards over the phone, you have to be in person
~No Complementary breakfast after all the money you spend on the room
~Customer Service… let’s just say that I’ve had WAY better

No major complaints, a great soft firm soft bed to sleep on. Price was actually a couple dollars less than the online App ’ Hotel Tonight’ price at checkin.
Security is great, everyone uses the single main entrance. I left my wallet in plain site in my car — still there in the morning,
Pool and hot tub looked clean, didn’t have time to try.

I would stay in a kennel before I stay in this hotel again. I had 3 rooms booked here a month ago and it was an all around horrible experience which did not live up to Starwood or Four Points standards. First of all, we arrived around midnight and the front desk staff was just completely unwelcoming and unhelpful. Next, our rooms were spread out all over the property and on different floors, I make sure to mention the different floors because that leads into the next bit: THERE WERE NO WORKING ELEVATORS in the entire hotel. Exhausted, I carried my bags up the stairs and to my room which was just sloppily put together. You could tell that it was either dated or a property which was sloppily converted to a Four Points.

Needed a place to stay in South San Jose and I wish I would have picked a different place. No place to park, as the parking lot is being resurfaced. There are signs warning that the elevators are unsafe and are not working. According to other reviews, this has apparently been going on for awhile, so there does not seem to be any urgency to fix them. My family of four was put on the first floor right next to a party room that was blasting music till midnight. We booked four rooms for a family reunion. I would leave in the middle of the night if I could.
Worst Experience Ever.

Elevators broken for quite a long time according to a fellow traveler. They charge your card $ 150 for incidentals and don’t tell you up front!!! Credited back when you check out –with bank lag time of 3 – 5 days. Rooms were okay but nothing special. No continental breakfast. Holiday Inn Express would have been a better choice
Okay no not only did we have poor service but they charged my card for a room that was pre paid (already paid for). I left
8 messages to KRISTIN in the accounting department. Never ever got a call back! Contacted corporate and made a dispute
With my credit card company. This location in particular-​horrible!!! I will never ever ever stay at another Sheraton!!! I will shout it from the roof tops too!!! Horrible experience!!!

I checked in at 145 and its 402. So far… not to great.
Waited in line for quite a while. I understand there are wait times when only 1 employee checking guests in. There were 3 employees and only 4 people ahead of me. Wait was over 20 min. Three of those 4 were already being helped sooo…
Reservations were for a King Bed room. Lady said oh let me see if any are available to check you in before 3. (Although the people next to me were not told that and had not made reservations in advance). She said she migjt have 2 queens. I said i need a king bed. She didn’t seem thrilled that i needed a king bed. She called housekeeping and asked if any queen rooms were ready. I told her i need a King bed due to my other half being 6’4 and not a small guy. She said oh and again mentioned 2 queen beds. I said i need a King and tried to smile and make light of the fact she wasn’t listening to me. Maybe the 1 guest waiting to be checked in was distracting? I don’t know… i mean there were 2 other employees.
The king bed room (finally) was nice. Bed is comfy to sit on, TV is decent size, AC works and there is coffee and 2 bottles of water. Those get stars.
I decided to take my 4 year old to the pool. We get there. No towels. Head to the gym. Small hand towels. I see housekeeping down the ha i knock on door and ask for 2 towels. I have to go to front desk. I ask front desk and they have to go to housekeeping to get towels. AYE YI YI.
We get our towels. Head to pool. Seen some flies and other bugs. Eh, common. I see something at bottom of pool but cant make it out. So i go and grab the net and start cleaning the pool out. We finally go into the pool and have some fun.
As we get out there was a towel i seen on side of pool but from this side i noticed something wrong.
There is blood. And a bandaid not too far. Gross. Gross gross. Then i figure out what was at bottom of pool bandaid. As i seen another gross bandaid at the bottom. Horrified that the person who bled didn’t report it and also the fact that we were swimming in a pool with someones frwakin blood.
I took my daughter a shower in the room and called front desk asking for the manager. He is not in today. Lady says she can help me if there is an issue. I tell her and i feel like she is not that concerned as horrified as i am. She says sorry and will have someone clean it up.
Let’s see how the rest of the evening progresses.
Next day update. Bed was very nice and pillows too. The housekeeping was a bit loud this morning with banging over and over for a bit.

Unilocal made me do it! My defense may not pass muster with a social savvy judge. Will work tho for Unilocal loving like minded humans. That is if asked why I stayed so far away when I had social functions four days in a row in Palo Alto, d/​t San Jose and SF.
Yes it’s over ten miles from Japan Town. Twenty five miles from Palo Alto. In the middle of nowhere and from the looks of it when you get to the parking lot it’s pretty isolated.
Don’t despair. About a mile each way you will find four to four and a half stars restaurants. Not to mention the easy access to the highway 101.
I wanted to stay here while Adam continues his nesting/​painting at home. Well I was really banished to a hotel but the choice where to was up to me. Since most of what I do is because A. It’s new to me which leads to B. I can review it for Unilocal!Which leads to C. Super excitement which leads to D. Finding things around the hotel to entertain myself when not doing my research.
The suite is located on the third floor where the SPG only clients are. Clean. Two flat screen TV’s. Microwave. Free bottles of water replenished everyday. I asked for more and no questions asked they give more. Nice comfortable king size bed. Free continental breakfast for two every day or $ 7 worth of whatever you want. Quite rooms. Very helpful, courteous staff.
I love their lobby. Very lively. They have the extra stuff like toothpaste and shaving cream, razor free just ask. FREE wifi! Yes important stuff.
Room service till nine at night. This is not a hotel where everybody is just seating around chatting. The staff are always cleaning, changing something running errands for the hotel guests.
Here they recognize your loyalty to the SPG brand and they treat you as Platinum if you are. Special treatment all the time!
Just across the big free parking lot is their restaurant Summit Streak house. That’s a different review altogether!
My four day stay was a relaxing and time well spent. I’m glad I chose this hotel.
