Flickinger Park

Been going to this park for some time now and generally love it.
Pros
— Huge park. Plenty of grass field, at least 2 baseball fields, 2 playgrounds, plenty of picnic tables in the back basketball courts etc.
— Plenty of parking all around the park and they have a parking lot too
— Ice cream truck comes around every 30 mins
— Most of the time it’s empty so I love taking quiet walks here with my dog
Cons
— The grass field is a bit uneven everywhere. Not sure how people play soccer on here
— Wish they would have doggy poop bags. There are many dog poops left around and you need to be careful
— Depending on the direction of the wind, you could sometime get the smell of the landfill
— Some patrons don’t seem the safest. Some homeless people live in their cars and live at the park (they may be cracking down on this). Also I’ve seen people doing drugs in their car around this area.

This was the park I use to go to allllll the time since I was little and I am now 20 and even go still. It’s a nice park.
A lot of party table sites, BBQ pits and trees for shade. The kids park is really fun especially the spiral thing that you can sit on and it spins around!
The swings were always my fave though.
This park is typically clean! And there always a whole bunch of people playing basketball. The people on the courts are usually very friendly and don’t mind sharing a court!
There’s also a baseball field which is good.
There is also a trail where you can just walk or bike on that goes all around the park and it pretty nice and windy.
Good place for families!

This is what I call an «all-​purpose» park. It may not have the absolute best of anything, but it has a little bit of everything — typical community park. The parking lot is decent, they have a big open space of grass for playing games, a normal jungle gym, and place to play baseball. This is the type of park you’d go to when someone has a game or with a big group so everyone can just run around doing their thing. Basically, you go because it’s closest to your house or because there is a game to play.
At night, there are lots of cats you can befriend. Most of them don’t actually want to be your friend, but they will at least stop to stare at you while you say hello. There are also some birds that walk around the grass looking curious. So basically if you’re lonely at night, this is a good park to go pretend you’re not.
Also, this got minus one star because the swings make creepy noises. And nobody wants a peaceful swing ride to be ruined by creepy noises.

Not a lot of kids come here. We live close so I usually will go to this park and it’s generally pretty empty. A lot of teens hang out here and «act hard» or flirt.

Nice park for baseball. They have 3 baseball fields. My son plays t ball here it his second year. There is also basketball courts, play area for kids.

Like: lots of trash cans to throw away poop, two playgrounds for children, picnic area with grills, multiple baseball fields, snack building, lots of sports activities going on even at night sometimes, lots of grass area, clean concrete paths, gravel/​dirt area too, most water fountains work, basketball courts, ok sized parking lot, actual bathrooms with working sinks, and a nice amount of trees.
Dislike: might be nice to have poop bag stations because some people don’t pick up poop, stray cats, sometimes sketchy looking people at one end of the park (I think sometimes people park in the residential court by the park and smoke), and wish there was a fully enclosed field to let dogs run off-​leash.

This park has everything, baseball field, basketball court, bbq pit, restroom, parking lot, kids play structure, nice open field. I notice park is pretty popular among the adults. I don’t see too many little kids play here. Restroom is standard City restroom, stainless steel urinal, soap dispenser had soap and restroom actually had paper towel Decent size parking lot. Grass is stechy, uneven surface, spotty, typical City grass. A good sign of a good park is when you see bunch of kids playing which this park lacks.

I live around this park by my house. It’s a clean park and very busy during the weekends. They have their football and soccer games here. Its a pretty descent size park. They have their playground on the other side away from the street is good for the kids.

I grew up in this park! I had little league baseball and birthday party’s here when i was younger. They have a couple play areas for kids, they split it so the younger kids can play in one area and the older kids can play in another. The baseball fields and snack shack during baseball season is always popping with activity. There are a couple basketball courts that are always being used. They still have some intense pickup games during the late afternoon /​evenings.

Huge and nice park! I like to come evenings to walk my dog since it has been hotter, but the downside is there are not enough lights! Yes, I shouldn’t be walking around at night alone but when you work two jobs you make do. And I want more lighting to feel safe! Otherwise take the kiddos to play at the playground, play some ball and the pets. Next time I will take my girl to run around at the elementary!

I ball up every weekend around 7am, the best day to go are on saturday mornings because most of the people come nice and early and play and run until 10−11am. There’s a bunch of filipino oldies here who come every week and usually some young guns too. Two full basketball courts and a huge baseball field and a decent restroom to wash hands and face after playing. The park is nicely maintained and parking is easy to get.
I’ve been playing here for years and usually come with my uncle and cousin because its hard to get picked up if you don’t know anyone. You’ll play but will be stuck on a team with people who suck lol.

Grew up around here as a kid, and though I have since moved away, I still find myself coming here for parties and other get togethers. I even had my daughter’s baby shower here! Great for all occasions!

I was here to attend a friends son’s baseball game. I will have to say that the park is very big and there are plenty of things to do here.
First you have plenty of basketball courts here as well as the playground is very big to keep the little ones busy for hours. They have three very big baseball diamonds and the grounds looks like they try to keep up with the budget shortages.
So overall this is a great place to come and see a game or just bring the kids to wear them out from a full day of activities.

It’s always so green here. There a huge baseball field. Remember that after hours they will chain lock the parking area. So get out while the getting is still good.

I grew up down the street from this park. I have fond memories as a child, and now I take my nieces and nephews here on occasion. I love going for walks and sometimes play on the playground equipment (which has improved over the years).
It’s very family oriented and has places for picnics, but you have to reserve early! It’s not the biggest park in the area, but it’s still a great place to go!

Great park for baseball (fields are awesome) and basketball.

I love this park! (maybe simply because i live, like, a block away and it’s so convenient for me to run and walk my dog =)
Very clean, lots of family oriented people go here.
If you want to celebrate an event there, you gotta get up at the crack of dawn (around 5a) to reserve your table. that’s how popular this park is, especially in the summer time!
Also, what’s nice is that they have soccer and baseball leagues going on throughout the year, so again, this is really a family oriented place.
the only thing i wished was that they have lit basketball courts so people can play at night. i love watching folks play, especially when it gets dark!

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this park yet. It’s a good park with basketball courts, playgrounds, and plenty of grassy area to play football, soccer, volleyball, etc you name it.
Also has areas for parties and picnics. Astro jumpers are allowed here but perhaps with a permit fee.

I have a lot of experiences here, mostly relating to bad luck in sports.
In my junior year, I got hit the back of a head because I was thrown a bullet while playing football, and I was more focused on getting open than the ball.
In my senior year, we were playing basketball and I twisted my ankle due to a defensive maneuver made by a TEAMMATE.
Later that year, we were playing frisbee and I cracked my wrist after throwing a hammer pass.
In my freshman year, I was kicking a soccer ball around with some pushy girl and she kicked it all the way into a neighborhood and she forced me to get it.
All in all, this is a great place for sports, and on top of that, this park has some of the best barbecue pits in the county. The streets aren’t too busy, but its location (being fairly close to Independence High School) might scare some away.
But don’t let that stop you from being an explorer though. This is a great place to play some pick up with people you don’t know, though you’ll probably get your ass handed to you in the process.
Main weakness? No tennis court, but I hate tennis anyway.

Many memories here from little league T.O.C. and All-​Star games, to softball practices, to BBQs, to Turkey Bowl games, and to black top battles. If you’re looking for a pick-​up basketball game, this is a park where you’ll almost always find a game going on when the sun is still out and shining.
