History

Established in 1993.

We at Flanders Heat & Air systems are dedicated to making your home comfortable. This is a ongoing effort. Recently we attained the title of BPI building analyst. This is the same certification that the Energy Upgrade CA program uses. It means that when we are in your home we are looking at the big picture. How well is your home insulated. Does it require attic sealing to qualify for PG&E rebates. We started in 1993 and through ongoing education and listening to our customers needs and applying new technological advances we believe we are the perfect HVAC company for the Bay Area. I got into this business when I was around 20 years old. I Loved the HVAC world. It was so fantastic to be able to control the indoor climate. I Worked for several companies always knowing I wanted to start my own business. Flanders was sent by our Home Warrantee company and they are fantastic. Really knowledgeable technicians, and Bret Flanders is the best of them all. We’ve had bad luck with other vendors sent out by the home warrantee but Flanders was great. I’ve filed a few other HVAC claims with the home warrantee company since the first one and if they assign a company other than Flanders, I call them right back and request they reassign it to Flanders.
Specific issues they resolved:
We were in our home for a few weeks when water pouring out of the ceiling — the condensation line was improperly set up years ago and it got bumped by another vendor doing work in the attic. Flanders quickly diagnosed the issue and had an appropriate solution.
A month later, our AC stopped cooling. Flanders came out and replaced a part in the AC unit.
A few weeks after that the AC stopped cooling again, Bret checked on the unit and everything seemed fine, then he went straight for the circuit breaker and saw it had tripped.
The fact that the AC keeps breaking has everything to do with the system being 15 years old but I know that if anything else pops up, Flanders can fix it.

Flanders installed a Fujitsu ductless mini-​split system in our home; they solved some installation challenges that other companies thought were impossible to overcome. They were priced very competitively too, I got 3 – 4 bids on this project and Flanders was the lowest but also the most responsive to questions, and when it came time to schedule the service, they were very quick to get the job done.
I’ve also used them for basic furnace tune-​up (through Angie’s List) and would recommend them for that too. Highly recommended.

I had a service person from Flanders fix a problem with my heater. They were contracted through my home warranty (Old Republic). Some of the Old Republic contractors can be «off». But the Flanders person showed up promptly on time (not 45 minutes later like other places). I also had an intermittent problem that wasn’t symptomatic at the time of the visit. But the repair guy was able to figure out the probable cause and fix it. He was also very polite and courteous. An all around pleasant experience.

Our ancient furnace died in Dec of 2005. After interviewing 3 local vendors, we hired Flanders to replace it with a Carrier heater and air conditioning system in Jan of 2006. We had one minor issue with the heater after installation which they immediately addressed and corrected. It’s been five years and we’re still very happy with our choice. It’s quiet, efficient and trouble free. The employees are professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We recommend them highly.
