Fast Bicycle

I don’t usually write bad reviews, but there’s something about exclusive attitudes that provokes me to do so.
I’ve come into this shop only twice, and both times I have felt sort of looked down on. It’s really unfortunate, because I was under the impression that they were community oriented.
And I can see it with just about everyone else who comes through to the shop. They’re so personable and take the time to serve them. From the moment I walk into the shop to the moment that I leave, they have a way of talking to me there that insinuates that I don’t belong there. Bought a cassette spacer and bike rack from them, and when I returned to tell them that it was the wrong bike rack, the man insisted that it wasn’t, telling me he didn’t know what I was talking about. I ended up having to go to OSH to buy a second set of p-​clips to secure it onto my bike, because I could tell he wasn’t going to accept the fact that my bike is so old it doesn’t have ceramic inserts to install the rack. If you’re the right kind of person, I really hope you enjoy the service they give you, but don’t waste your time there if you’re not. So unfortunate.

I really like this bike shop. The employees are really helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are great, and I really appreciate their customer service. I crashed my mountain bike and needed to true my wheel. I was really impressed with the whole process. The only downside, is that they did not have a very wide selection of bikes, or else I would have bought one there. I will be back for all my minor repairs and accessories.

Just came in here to extend my girlfriend’s bike’s handlebars. The guy (short, heavy facial hair, kinda looks eastern euro) tried to tell us that no such thing (handlebar extender) exists, and in his 20+ years of experience, he’s never even seen something like that.
Our only chance, according to him, was to buy a new bike for $ 400+. The dude wouldn’t even acknowledge that there is an easier way. He wasted about 20 minutes of my girlfriend’s time trying to rip her off while I smoked a cigarette.
Then we went half a block down the street to Sun Bike Shop and the cool dude there didn’t even try to BS us. He just sold us the part ($ 14.95 handlebar extender) and even let us borrow tools to do the job.
What an a$$hole.

5 stars for super fast service, kind crew, especially the proprietor. If you’re looking for the best deal and awesome ride with great warranty, stop by here and find what will suit your budget and more importantly, your needs. By the way, I’ve been a customer for a decade now…

Customer service is amazing here! Definitely recommend for all bike needs! Will be a return customer for sure!

Don’t go to this place! I walked in and IN LESS THAN SIX MINUTES had bought a bike.
I went in looking for a specific type of bike. They told me that was an older model and showed me the upgraded newer one for $ 20 more I think. Sold.
They didn’t have my size on the show floor but they had one in the back. Took a couple hours to get it built. When I picked it up, it was glorious. They mentioned their six month policy of taking it back within six months for a free servicing. Nice.
All in all, they’re all a great bunch of guys. Hard workers, knowledgeable and dedicated to biking. I’ll be back.

I came in because I needed a freewheeling gear. I didn’t want a fixed gear anymore. I had to wait a little bit because the worker was taking care of a really indecisive asian dude, but when it was my turn he gave me good information to my question and gave me the parts I needed. Got me out of there as fast as he can. Would definitely recommend for all your bike needs!

This place is awesome! Smaller than other shops. but I rate these shops based on their repair services… which are outstanding here. Fast, affordable, and great quality work.
Tom is the man to go to!

If you’ve a toddler and have a jogger stroller then you have to be an patron at this place. They’ve always been my go to guy to fill air in my joggers tiers. The owner is very courteous, and will go out of his way to make mamma’s with sons and deflated strollers in tow comfortable.
I remember he opened the door for me and helped fix the tiers in record speed all for a mere $ 3. I hope to buy my son’s next bicycle at his store. They have some awesome toddler bicycles for a mere $ 120 plus.
If you have a stroller that needs air, and on the run this is the best place to go to.

I’ve been shopping here since they were on the other side of the street. This is a great bike shop, service here is excellent. Walked in with a hub and rim and it was laced and ready for pickup next day also picked up a cool Fast Bicycle t-​shirt. Will continue to shop here always.

I visited this bike shop in order to buy a bike as a Christmas present. They answered all my questions, even though the place was super busy. They have such great customer service!

Rear tire exploded on Mt. Ham — I scurried down to Fast Bikes where Rick dropped everything to get me going in a hurry — ended up having a great ride. Thanks Rick!

Great local owned business. This place has been here ever since I can remember. Owner is always very friendly. I bought both my sons’ bikes here also my wife’s bike. Definitely have better quality bikes than the cheaper alternative i.e. Walmart/​Target. Feels good supporting a local business as well. They not only sell bikes but also offer full service/​maintenance at very reasonable prices and quick turn around. They will fix a flat tire while you wait. Customer for life!

Every bicycle needs to be customized for a particular rider. For a given rider, some bicycles need more/​less adjusting than others, but finding a perfect fit, out of the box, seems really rare, at least for me.
Tom and Jose understand this in a deep way. Tom took time with me to determine what I wanted, and then helped me find the best fit, and then continued his assistance in customizing the bike. He spent a lot of time and effort with me. Jose executed very quickly and well on Tom’s instructions. I felt very taken-​care-​of.
We went through three stems, new cables (twice!), the works. My comfort and happiness were their chief concerns. «Whatever keeps you on the bike! What good is a bike that just sits in the garage?» Tom said.
Tom told me the story of a friend of his that had hand-​numbness after a ride that they took. His friend was embarrassed to say anything and just accepted it as «part of riding». Tom told me how foolish this was, and encouraged me to come to him with any comfort issues or concerns I had at all with the bike.
We ordered new parts (sometimes we had to wait for them to come in, Tom or Jose always called and followed-​up), and they always patiently stuck with me, kind and friendly.
I really appreciate Tom’s way-​of-​being and he treats me very well. I am glad that Jose is so very talented with a wrench. Thank you, Tom and Jose.

A couple months ago, I took my mountain bike in to get them to fix my gear shift. I couldn’t shift down to 1^st gear. They fixed it, but the problem came back just a couple weeks later! I wasn’t able to take it back to them for about 6 weeks or so, I was pleased that they were still willing to fix it again for me. Jose is very knowledgeable and reasonable. They technically could have charged me for the repair, but I’m glad they had a «customer first» approach to the situation because I would have felt that it wasn’t fair to me to have to pay for the same problem all over again in such a short period of time. Bottom line, I’m very happy with this store and I will continue to have all my biking needs taken care of by them. They definitely know their stuff.

You can walk in and be there for 10 minutes or more and they won’t bother if you have any questions, they got great bike sales, but sometimes custom service is not so great, its like they’re not n the mood to work, don’t let your problems at home come to your workplace. They got a great selection of bicycles.

Great place to pick up a bike or parts.
I’ve been here multiple times and they’re fast and efficient, just like their name.
Prices are acceptable plus the staff is really nice and helpful, now my go-​to-​shop for anything I need bike related.

Been a loyal customer for 15 yrs. How things have changed. Customer service friendly staff like you’ll read in other reviews is non existent. Tom is not only rude but will belittle you to I guess make his self esteem greater. Will NOT be returning here plenty of bike shops around San Jose to put up with these people’s crap! You’ve been warned.

Ive had maintenance repairs and have purchased parts from this bike shop.
Their customer service is great and prices are competitive. They can change a tire right on the spot if they are not too busy.
I have been a repeat customer the last 5 years.

The reviews are accurate my fellow Unilocalers. I recently (March, 2013) purchased a Giant Sedona Mountain Bike there and Tom, owner, met the best ONLINE PRICE and beat it by $ 10. Furthermore, he backs it with free limited time service (not sure how long). I’ll be taking my bike there in a couple weeks for Free Maintenance and update review then.
So do your research and GO TO FAST BIKE! BTW, they offer a lay-​away plan if you want to make payments and they also do special orders if you need a special size for BIG/​small peeps. I’m 6’5″ and about 3 bills so I had to get the Giant XL which fits me spot on!
