Evergreen Community Center

Great little park. Our dog Hank Junior Junior really loves it. Not crowded and good restrooms.

Really spacious and they have free wifi! Woohoo! Area is clean and there are staff around even when you have weekend functions.

Don’t under estimate the classes they offer here. You don’t need to pay a fortune to have your child’s going to preschool. Our son been going to little learner preschool here for 2 years and all the teacher are well educated and are good with kids. I have to give credits to our son current class with Miss Phyllis and Miss Becky held at Millbrook location for 4 years old kids. Miss Phyllis actually have the kids do some exercise activities during their playground time, she gives them popsicle and apples on hot days (snack not included in tuition), and she go through animal names as each kids being called up when parents picking them up. Overall I’m pretty happy and wish that I could enroll him more on other classes. Classes are filled up fast, they also offered music, soccer and others too.

my son been to ST. francis of assisi up the street. 2stars thumbs down. also headstart and I work at a preschool that I have taken him to. But i always brought him back here. Ms. Nabila is awesome and teaches and really cares about the kids learning. Ms. Naomi is awesome as well. shes more stern and blunt but I like that. The Phonics program is AWESOME! the kids Learn so Much! my son is entering Kindergarten this year and hes advanced already! thanks to the programs here.
they are cheaper then most preschools in the area. but you need to sign up as soon as enrolling starts because classes fill up fast.
i use the word amazing A lot because it s. out of the 4 schools i tried with my Kid this is NUMBER 1.

I held my daughter’s 1 bday party At first, everyone was nice & friendly. Maria was amazing! She even promised that we can have our sodas cooled in the fridge at no cost! Unfortunately, the promises were not kept & the nightmare begun. They charged us for the kitchen $ 100 On the contact it said it was all clean yet took off $ 60. BEWARE, STAY AWAY. I will not recommend this to anyone! I am going to escalate this as far as I can. It is unfair for the client. Maria, please keep your promises. I am extremely upset.

The location of the Center is nice, there’s parking and there’s a really nice park by it. I only signed my daughter up for a Hip Hop class and I was really disappointed. I wouldn’t even say my daughter learned any type of hip hop move at all. She walked in circles, skipped forward and backwards, jumped over things, waved her arms in the air, there was nothing hip hop to it at all. I get that it’s for young kids, my daughter is 5, but don’t describe the class as being hip hop if all that is going to be taught is hopping and skipping.

Nice big space for any event. Except the lady is charge is a big pain in the butt. My mom didn’t get her deposit back and we stood till late cleaning that hall and she still didn’t get her money back!

I like this community center they offer lots of great classes I take my daughter to. We’ve been bringing her since she was 2. The classes are really affordable.

DO NOT BOOK for important events.
We paid a deposit and signed a contract and 3 weeks before the event we found out they double booked and were bumping us. Just to note the importance of this event, it was part of my wedding with 200 people.
They offered several other not as good alternatives. In the end, their mistake ended up costing us $ 1000 to book a new place and countless hours calling all of our out of town guests with new directions and arranging transportation since there is no other place close by.
I’m sure they provide other good services, but in my opinion, booking them for an important event is risky.

I am a pastor of West Hills Community Church (
) and we rent the Evergreen Community center on a weekly basis on Sunday mornings. We have been there for over a year now.
The center’s director, Steve is a great guy who wants to make rentals a great experience. Chris and Maria are wonderful to work with at the front desk in making reservations, explaining contracts and working with you. We NEVER had a Sunday when the key holder was not there, or late. They are prompt, professional and faithful. I also see their desire to continually upgrade the facility.
The facility is well laid out and great for us and for large parties or gatherings. They have nice main hall and a secure courtyard right out back with a nice view of the park.
Finally, after meeting with the director, his vision is to see the center used for local kids, adults and families. In the past it has been pretty senior citizen centric. I know they want to continue to serve seniors, but expand programming and services to the local families that call Evergreen and San Jose home.
If you are thinking about renting a place out for an event or want to get better plugged into the local community, I’d say this a winner. Again, we have been there for over a year. So, my take is not that of a one time renter.

This place is worth the price of any class you take here.
Found this hidden gem for summer activities to keep the kiddos busy. They give classes for youngsters and for golden oldies. Eight week classes are around $ 90, which is cheap considering that a usually month of piano lessons at a regular place is $ 120. Plus if you are bringing someone here they have comfy chairs to take a nap in while you wait for their class to be over. I am trying to convince them to offer classes to young adults and regular aged adults, but so far nothing due to the lack of interest on our part.
All in all I recommend this place for anyone looking to keep their kids or grandparents active.

So far I like this place. I was looking for a location to throw my daughters big «13» bday party. Prices are very reasonable.

$ 250 Cleaning/​Damage Deposit (which u get back if the place is in tiptop shape after your event
$ 46.50 per hour for SJPD
50% is due @ signing & u have 30 days before your event to pay of remaining balance.
Sounds fair. So this is the place where I will be throwing my daughters party. Ill keep ya posted. May I add Maria in the office staff is very professional and made the process so easy.

I was looking everywhere for a review or any information about this and other SJ community centers. I’m planning a wedding for April/​May 2010 so I’ve been doing some heavy duty research.
Ok, to cut to the chase, this place is spacious and has a gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the small hills of the surrounding park. As it is currently April, the park behind the center is lush green, so the view from the large windows makes the place feel serene.
Pluses:
— This center holds 200 people (sit-​down/​banquet style) and includes tables and chairs in the rentals
— beer, wine, champagne, and sake allowed, but no hard liquor
–kitchen available with limited use
— a relatively cheap place to hold your reception/​party at $ 118 an hour plus SJPD wage per hour (you have to have at least one SJPD person to monitor the space)
–clean bathroom
— a small lounge area where people can hang out
Minuses:
— And I quote a staff person from the center «Candles are allowed but you can’t light them»
— the chairs and tables look very old. Think 1960’s egg-​shaped chairs you used in elementary school. I suggest getting table linens and chair covers.
— limited use of the kitchen. From what I remember, you’re only allowed to use a refrigerator, a stove top, and the sink. You’re not allowed to cook the food, just reheat. These are things that might be helpful for your caterer to know.
A couple of things to investigate:
— Lighting. I have yet to see it, but I don’t want stark flourescent lighting to throw off the ambiance of my wedding. I’ll up date this info if I can find out what the lighting situation is.

I went here for my cousins wedding. The center is very clean and great for things like this. The parking held our family, so I don’t know the capacity for parties bigger than what we had. But it worked for this wedding. There is a section in the center near the bathrooms where you can sit down and just relax. Outside where the ceremony took place in the gazebo, you get the view of the green field behind it.
