Established 14 years ago to provide high quality craftsmanship at a reasonable cost. Ellington Handyman Service is a family owned business that serves our community of families.

We specialize in helping adult children who have older parents who want to stay in their home. We have experience providing home maintenance for these families at a reasonable cost.

Blake E.

Business Owner

Blake E Franklin has grown up in the San Jose area for over 50 years. He graduated from Overfelt High School on the eastside of San Jose. He enjoys spending time with and helping his parents who still live in their homestead along with supporting the Overfelt high school activities like the Carl Monroe Scholarship annual golf tournament. He and Carl played football together in high school before he went on to SF 49’s.

Blake is active in his church and serves with his wife, Nancy Franklin, as leaders in the Marriage Ministry.

Of all the various activities that Blake is involved in the most important time to him is his family. He is a father and grandfather.

I highly recommend Ellington’s Handyman Service. They are reliable, honest, customer-​oriented, reasonably priced and very pleasant to work with. Blake Franklin has completed several projects for us, including demolition/​haulaway of a vanity and mirror, reconnecting the sink’s plumbing after a new vanity was put in, and fixing holes in the walls. He is meticulous and efficient. We will certainly be using their services again for any future projects.

I have been meaning to write this review since Blake and Nancy did some work for us earlier this year. Finally, after I highly recommended them to a friend today, I got on to do this review. They installed an overhead storage unit in our garage (not an easy job as our house is pretty old), cleaned out mildew and re-​grouted a shower stall, and fixed/​replaced an electrical outlet in the kitchen. I was very happy with the entire experience — high quality of work, friendly and straight forward communications, reasonable price (and only charging us for what was quoted even though the job took longer). I look forward to having them come out again for what’s next on my to-​do list.

I called Blake to replace lighting and fix a leaky urinal in a commercial unit. He was running a little late to our appointment, but he called to let us know. He was extremely forward about all of the costs and time it might take him to do the two jobs and really went out of his way to make sure we were on the same page. Even though he was just stopping by to do a quick estimate, he spent his own time repairing a door that was sticking. He was very nice and clearly communicative. He earned our business and we are happy to recommend him.

I highly recommend Ellington’s Handyman Service. I called them the Monday after New Year’s and they were able to come out the same day. They fixed my front door and door jam after someone broke it down. Blake and his wife are extremely nice, easy to work with, professional and personable. Their fees are also very reasonable.

We have had the pleasure of using Ellington’s for 3 different jobs (cleanout impacted dryer vent; patch two stucco holes in outside wall; repair/​rebuild wood fence gate) in the last month, and in each case we have been more than pleased.
Mr. Franklin is friendly, prompt, knowledgeable, and efficient. As another reviewer mentioned, he is professional and is organized with his prep work and cleanup. With the gate project, we were trying to solve a problem with a sagging gate but there were several different approaches that could be taken. Mr. Franklin listened to what we wanted to achieve both operationally and esthetically, and delivered a beautiful new gate that re-​used our wood and functions perfectly.
We are starting our list of additional projects and look forward to calling Ellington’s again soon to help us catch up on additional projects that have needed to be done for a long time.

I called Blake to install a range hood and do some plumbing work and he did a great job. Blake came out to provide an estimate and started work the next day. He is very professional, punctual, and is very good about any prep work and cleaning up after the job is completed. I would highly recommend his services.

I’d strongly recommend Blake and Nancy for handyman services, and would call on them again for future projects. The project: drywall & baseboard repair and repaint, vinyl flooring replacement, toilet reinstall, and general caulking. Blake’s work is high quality at a reasonable price. He is very clear on what needs to be done. Both he and Nancy are easy to communicate with on the phone and over email. Estimates are itemized clearly and deviations due to new findings are easily resolved. Blake keeps the work area clean which was good with a baby around; he’s also got booties for «no-​shoe» homes. He’s also very friendly and trustworthy.
