History
Established in 1980.
Elegant Events Catering was founded nearly thirty years ago by three ladies dedicated to providing quality-catered meals to the private and business sectors.
In the summer of 1994, Jacques Hayes, owner of La Bonne Vie Fine Catering and fairly fresh out of culinary school, took his visions of grandeur and purchased the company. Jacques took Elegant Events to new heights creating a top of the line fine catering company with a strong local reputation.
During the summer of 1998, the trustees of the San Jose Elks Lodge approached Chef Hayes. They had selected twenty of the most respected catering companies to interview. In the end, they selected Elegant Events.
In February of 2004, Chef Hayes decided it was time to move away from this aging facility and build his own brand new kitchen. Staff has never been happier and they have been operating in their new, state of the art facility ever since.

At an early age, Jacques fell in love with the culinary arts. He credits this passion to growing up in his mother’s kitchen, culinary school, watching cooking shows, and reading many cookbooks. Jacques attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and graduated with honors. In May of 1994 he purchased Elegant Events Catering. Jacques served six years as Executive Chef for the international publication «Epicurean Magazine» and previous to that, the same title for the «Food and Beverage Journal», a California trade magazine
Jacques strongly believes in using the finest, freshest ingredients and serving generous portions all with special attention to presentation. «I feel fortunate to be a chef in Northern California where I have access to a wide variety of outstanding local products that include wine, produce, cheese, meat, herbs and seafood. What my team does with these products is what sets us apart from our competition.»
