Had a problem with pilot light on our GE water heater, they came the same day and fixed the problem. We were afraid we’d have to spend several days without hot water, but turned out with Joseph’s help we don’t have to. Great service!

There is nothing worse then coming home late and finding out your water heater died. Luckily for me Joseph from Efficient Water Heater was available to come to my house within an hour to help. I needed a replacement and he was able to do the job in under an hour. I found out about the problem at 6pm and he had me up and running again by 830pm. Awesome service and great pricing!

Our pilot lamp kept turning off and wasnt getting any hot water.
We have 2011 GE RHEEM water heater. Called the 24 hr hot line listed on the heater itself and got connected to Payless water heater & conditioning. Their estimate was $ 85 for driving out here and $ 325 for the repair.
So, we called Joseph from Efficicent Water Heaters and he gave us $ 175 for repair and parts and came out within 12 hours!
Joseph told us about the class action against RHEEM heaters manufactured between 2008 – 2014. Since our parts were still under 5 year warrantee, GE said they will reimburse for the parts that Joseph used to repair.

Joseph, the owner of efficient water heater, installed a 40 gallon heater in my house. He did a A+ work on it, the price is reasonable. He is poilet, friendly and professional.

I called Joseph on Saturday morning and got an AO Smith 40 gallons water heater installed in late afternoon while I was 35 miles away from home. Joseph answered all my questions and helped me select the model I need. His team arrived on time and completed the job within an hour. They also replaced the flex lines and secured the water heater with 2 new straps.
Hot water is running and all is good. I wish all home repairs are as easy and efficient as this.

What an amazing service for a water heater repair. Realized my water heater was leaking at 6pm, called Efficient Water Heaters, and by 9pm Joseph and Ray were at my place fixing the issue.
For $ 175, I got a same day diagnostic and repair of the water hose and pipe that were broken. I am definitely calling them back if I need help with my water heater.

Joseph installed brand 50 gallon water heater. The job has been handled very professionally right from quote to end the installation. I opted for a permit and he co-​ordinated the permit application from application to inspection as well.
He charged me very reasonable price compared to the competitors and way lower than the national chains.

Great! I had no hot water and I needed my tankless water heater flushed anyway. The City of San Jose plumbing Inspector came out to my multi-​family rental unit and wanted a few fixes done for a new water heater that was installed less than a year ago by another plumbing company. I can’t believe how hard it is to find honest, reliable, and fairly priced plumbing contractors in San Jose. I encountered the non-​returned calls, outrageous quotes without even knowing what the job entails, etc. I’m so relieved that I found Joseph at Efficient Water Heaters. He has been a complete pleasure to work. If he says someone will meet me at 3pm, not only do they actually show up, but they are there at 3pm sharp. Joseph, the owner of Efficient Water Heaters, installed a brand new 40 gallon water heater at my friend’s house. He is courteous, efficient, polite, and patient. He did a top notch job and the charge is very reasonable.
I just found out that my water heater is leaking and also need a new one since it’s 15 years old. He’ll come out to do the job on Monday. That speaks volume of his quality work!

If Unilocal allowed me to give 6 stars, I would do so after my experience with Efficient Water Heaters. I found my hot water heater leaking terribly today (of course, on a Sunday afternoon). When I called, Joseph and Ray happened to be in the area finishing another job, and were at my house within the hour. Unfortunately, the existing heater needs to be replaced. In addition, there is a fair amount of water damage of the adjacent flooring, which needs to be repaired before the new heater can be installed. So Joseph called another company with which he has a strong relationship (see my next review), whose rep arrived only 1 hour later. Within 30 minutes, a plan of attack was scheduled, appropriate follow-​up was organized, and they answered all of my questions — I am awfully naïve about these kinds of repairs, but they were patient and friendly.
Unfortunately, due to this combination of problems, the new water heater won’t be installed for a few days until the other repairs can be performed. However, the time, patience, and professionalism these folks showed makes me completely confident in their plan. So, it’ll be cold showers for a few days, but I trust that all will be right in the end. 1000 thanks again to Joseph and Ray!

I called three other companies first… and was told I’d have to wait for days.
Then, I checked Unilocal and found Joseph and Efficient. I called him and he was at my home in 90 minutes (exactly when he said he’d be there).
Three hours later… I had hot water!
Joseph and his partner worked fast, did great work and couldn’t have been more professional!

I had much the same experience as others. No hot water in the morning, I called Joseph and a couple of companies. Joseph called me back, came out the same day and by the next day I had a new heater.
I had the original tankless water heater installed by Mike Council Plumbing which I would NEVER use again and Joseph showed me what a shoddy job they did. It was actually an electrical hazard and it’s lucky there wasn’t a fire.
Joseph is polite, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. I am very thankful to you and would highly recommend your company.

Well, EWH may have great technicians and do good work, but interacting with them prior to securing their business makes you feel like that could care less about your business, and that they don’t know what they are doing.
I have nothing to gain writing this review, beyond providing an experience I had with this company. Based on all the positive reviews, they aren’t hurting for business, and more than likely service most people perfectly fine.
I am happy this happened because it forced me to look elsewhere.
I have already secured another company to do the job, they were cheaper, they were extremely professional, had someone to my place within 2 hours of my call, called me with the technician’s name and at what time he would be arriving, told me about all the things wrong with how my current water heater was installed, offered to get the job permitted, were doing a lot of pipe rework to accommodate the new Water Heater input and output locations, were lifting my water heater over the safety pole, they use a commercial grade water heater opposed to the low-​quality AO Smith, and doing the job at a significantly cheaper price than EWH. This was a No brainer, and I feel very secure they know what they are doing, especially since they did work at our friends house. Check out Payless Water Heaters.
My experience with EWH is as follows:
We have a 7-​year-​old 75 Gallon AO Smith Water Heter, which has unfortunately cracked on the bottom, and was leaking water.
I called Joseph, as many have posted, and he returned my call back within 15 minutes. I spoke with him about the job, SMS some pictures to his cell, and he said that they should be able to get a crew out to my house the following day, by 1PM. He then said that he will give me a call back within 10 minutes to give a quote and secure the appointment.
FUMBLE #1: He called back in the said time and told me the cost of doing the replacement. He also verified that the soonest he could get out to our place would be Wednesday morning. I asked him what changed because you said earlier that it would be Tuesday at 1PM. He mentioned that he took four calls between when he hung up with me and when he called me back, and now they were booked until Wednesday. I questioned him because It was clear that I was interested in them doing the job, and he never mentioned anything about needing a credit card to reserve a reservation. He said this was their policy of how they do business. I guess their policy isn’t to give the first caller the courtesy of reserving a spot, even when they couldn’t provide a quote estimate.
FUMBLE #2:The cost was a little on the higher side because he told me that he would need three guys to first cut a 2 ft cement filled metal pole, and lift the water heater into place. I thought this was crazy, and asked him why the three people couldn’t just lift it over the pole. He refused, said that they were very experienced and this is how it is done. LOL. OK, so you are going to cut all safety poles. Good luck with that.
This made me lose all confidence in this company since he is making a very simple and common sense solution, into a more difficult solution. Of course, the other companies I contacted said that they would lift out the existing water heater and lift in the new one over the pole.
I hope they treat you well, and maybe my review will make them be more customer focused opposed to just making another sale.

My old heater had been making popped noise with each boiling cycle. It’s due to the accumulation of minerals from the water supply all these years.
I found «Efficient Water Heaters» through Unilocal.Now I have a brand new double insulated fifty gallons heater the next day after I contacted Joseph. He spent close to two hours to do customer works — from drain pan, connectors, and others. He even earthquake-​prove it by installing two pieces of 2×4 to keep the water heater from moving before the straps. (see the photo with drain pan at the bottom)
The total cost with free warranty for two years parts and labor was cheaper than Home Depot (for a forty gallons unit, and extra installation fees not included)

We had no hot water all of sudden. I’ve called two other water heater stores without reply, then I called Efficient Water Heaters. Joseph came within 2 hours and diagnosed problem quickly. He even tried to save my money by calling manufacture for the warranty. In the end, he replaced my water heater the next day, and sealed water heater shed.
Joseph was very responsible; he answered my various questions after the work. His work was clean, efficient and his rate is reasonable. I appreciate his work and highly recommend it.

Owner Joseph helped us fixed our water heater from a previously bad job done by another company. He arrived on time and did the work throughly and explained every details about the work so we identified where the actual problem was which caused the water heater stopped working.

Called late Thursday night about 11pm. My water heater was fixed the next day by 12:30

Had a water heater installed and the control valve was cracked so there was a gas leak, pg&e came out to shut it off and we were without hot water for 5 days just so the part could come in.
I tried Angie’s list but that was not helpful whatsoever, then I got on Unilocal and typed in water heater, I went through a lot of companies just looking at highest reviews and how many stars.
I came across Joseph’s company and called, he said he could be at my house the same day I called and was 30 minutes early which was awesome. He was in and out in 10 minutes, explained everything to me and what was wrong, he was very professional and very informative.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for help.

Found These guys on Unilocal after my 16 year-​old water heater started leaking. I checked with a few contractors, but Joseph seemed to be the most knowledgeable on water heaters & professional. Also he carried multiple brands (I went with Bradford white) and gave a good price. Best of all, he was able to get the heater installed next day though it was a long weekend.
They called ahead of the appointment, got all the parts and completed everything in under 2 hours. What I liked the most is they cleaned up the place well after the work was done.

Joseph is the best guy anyone could ever ask for whenever there’s a water heater problem and here’s why. Saturday night last week, we noticed we had no hot water at the house. Then Sunday came and I called most of the plumbing services on yellow pages and I was given 3 hour wait time for all of them. On Monday, the same thing happened, except a guy was sent to us from Preferred California Plumbing services around 4pm and our water heater was never fixed until today, I finally decided to check reviews on Unilocal and found this guy Joseph. We called him at 12pm and said he was going to show up at my house at 1pm. He came to our house, checked the heater and did some testings. After about 30 minutes of checking and inspecting he found out what the problem was and immediately fixed it for us. If you are having water heater problems, please call this guy. No hot water around dinner time! Called up Joseph at 7:30pm, he said he’ll come at 9:30pm as the last customer of the day, and he’s indeed right on time. Explained what’s wrong and also mentioned the cost up front, and he got the water heater fixed in no time. Would gladly use him again shall some other issues come up with the heater.

Water heater broke at the end of a long weekend trip. We tried to light the pilot ourselves but couldn’t. So we tried calling several places and they were willing to come in after 2 – 3 days. But the folks at Efficient Heaters not only answered right away they also gave us a reasonable quote considering the long weekend etc. and came in an hour and got the job done. Thanks!

Joesph was awesome i called in the morning and he said he’d make it out that friday afternoon. Our water heater was out of warranty and any parts warranty available would take 3 to 4 days to ship bc of a monday holiday. This also meant being without water for that long?! On top that we’d have to get a kenmore tech to do a temp fix on this particular part. He came well prepared and just overall beyond knowledgable about the best options. He had everything ready to go and took an hour and a half to have hot water back on again! Also, he went out of his way to come back to put a second strap on the water heater. Thank you!

I discovered my water heater was leaking at 5:00 pm on a Saturday. I made several calls to other plumbers with no luck. They replaced my water heater, fixed the base, and swapped out old parts by 7:30 pm. By 8:15 my 8-​year-​old was taking a hot shower before bed. I called Joseph at 10:30 PM at night and still answered my phone call! He was very helpful and came out an repaired my water heater pilot light. I was very happy by first of all for taking my call after closing hours. Being on the phone with me setting up a house call and being very informative about my possible issue. We had a leak of the water heater and it’s Jan in winter. No showers for the whole family, so I called a few people from my list and Joseph responded right away, came in to check after 1 hour, replaced the water heater within 2 hrs. And even helped me to find somebody to dry out the wet wall so that we won’t get mold and further damage to our house. Great service, Awesome job and fair price! I highly recommend Joseph.

Our water heater was leaking so I called around for quotes. Every place I called rushed me through the phone call and made me feel like I was bothering them. I was curious about a tank-​less heater and he guided me through the process and gave me detailed information about a tank-​less system. I noticed my water heater leaking a little on Sunday evening. I called Joseph on Monday morning for an estimate. After checking a couple other water heater companies I called him back because he was offering the same service at the best price. He showed up on time that afternoon, got right to work and had everything installed in a couple hours. He cleaned up after himself and so far I have been very happy with the quality of his workmanship. Would definitely do business with this company in the future.

My water heater broke down, so I called around for replacement of my water heater. A few places cannot give me a straight answer and estimate over the phone. Joseph was honest and gave me an estimate over the phone true to his words without changing his estimate after arrival.
