Echelon Security

I worked for Echelon for about a year. They committed wage theft against me, and against some of my coworkers. If you look them up in legal directories or inquire with the CA Labor Commission, you can find the judgements they’ve had to pay.
They treat their workers like shit and don’t pay well, and as a result, no one who can get a better job sticks around. I left because I found a better paying job that treated me decently and respected me.

Had the displeasure of being employed by this company for a little over 6 months. I worked for Command Security at the KLA-​Tencor site in Milpitas until they lost the contract and the company saw fit to go with a new Security Contract with Echelon.
We had a strong team of veterans that had been working together for years. Our team was great and worked very well together. That is, until Echelon took over. They immediately fired a receptionist that had just given birth only a month or so prior. This receptionist, mind you, was amazing.
One of our receptionists had a tragic family death and needed time off so this lady, who was already past her due date, came in and worked a 45 hour week, who was ready to burst at any moment, to give the other receptionist time off to deal with the death of a family member. And they fired this receptionist even though she came back 3 weeks after having given birth. They gave no reason. She was always on time and never called in sick and knew how to do her job well. It boggled the mind. The amount of receptionists we went through over the next 6 months was beyond frustrating because had they kept this amazing woman, we wouldn’t be hiring and firing incompetent inexperienced receptionists who didn’t tale the job seriously.
They then forced a Security Officer to quit. He had been at the site 10 years and was my best Patrol Officer. He knew what to do, when to do it, would do it fast and efficiently, and could fill in any position at the site including Control Center Operator. He was a valuable asset to the team and an overall great guy. He had a newborn baby and when he asked if he could have just one week off after she was born, the company refused. Yes, refused. I’m not sure of the legality of this, but people have told me he could’ve sued. Regardless, he wasn’t going to stay with a company that would do that to him when he works his butt of and holds over for overtime all the time. This is how Echelon displays it does not care about it’s employees. At all.
They then proceeded to change all of our pay rates based on who knows what? Our most senior ranked Security Officer that had been working at the site for 14 years was busted down to almost minimum wage, while they made a Security Officer who had only been there 2 months and didn’t know very much still, the highest paid officer on site. We had guys who had been working there 5 years, 6 years, 7 years, 10 years, 14 years, 3 years, all of sudden getting paid less than a person who was working his first site in Security.
People left in droves. The team became disorganized. And management was laughably bad. They hired 2 different Security Supervisors who knew nothing about the site and they weren’t very tech saavy either making it difficult to go to them for anything because they knew nothing of the operations of the site and certainly couldn’t help out with a technical problem either.
2 months ago they finally promoted someone from inside the Security Team to Security Supervisor and it was GREAT. He had 6 years under his belt at the site and was a very competent leader. The mess left behind by the previous 2 Security Supervisors was awful and it took a good month getting all the new guys back on track, organizing paperwork, procedures and essentially getting back to the way things were when they were working well.
Things were going well despite Echelon not sending enough people to our site. I worked overtime for 2 months straight every week because the Operations Manager at Corporate couldn’t get anyone out to our site. EVERY. WEEK. I didn’t want to, but the Security Supervisor was a good guy and he worked HARD to make things right and fought for his Officers. He was a good leader and took the heat for anything that wasn’t done right. He earned the entire Security Team’s respect, but he was being overworked. REALLY OVERWORKED.
So yesterday he asked for a pay raise. A small one. He wasn’t even getting paid the same amount as the previous two Security Supervisors who were highly incompetent. Seemed reasonable considering every day he was working 10 – 12 hours. They said no and let him go.
I came into work today to see he had been let go and had hired a new Security Supervisor. The Operations Manager was there and I asked if I could turn my two weeks in because I was not going to work for anyone else they sent down to our site. Not again. He yelled at me to GET OUT. And made me leave the site knowing we’re already short on people.
When the team got word of this, everyone quit. 5 people on an 11 man team have quit today. TO-​DAY. I was willing to put two weeks in, but nope… they’re in a huge mess and are calling the people who quit to please come back because they’re desperate and are now at risk of losing the contract to the site entirely.
This company has displayed incompetence at every level of leadership to the highest degree and have shown they don’t care.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. I just experienced some bullsh*t these people put someone close to me and they are very unprofessional and highly disorganized. I would advise to search elsewhere and do not bother wasting your time with these useless dumb idiots.

I found this business from the
as an approved training site for Security Guards with Firearm and guard card. He was very professional and got me through the process very fast. I highly recommend this company to complete your security guard training or if you need Private Security this place has integrity.
