We are a play-based preschool serving families and their children ages 2 – 5.
We at Downtown Scholars have adapted a philosophy that uses an «active learning» educational approach. Active learning means children have direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events and ideas. Children’s interests and choices are at the center of our program. Children build on their knowledge through experiences and hands-on play in the classroom and outside areas. Children take the first step in the learning process by making choices and following through on their plans and decisions. Teachers, caregivers and parents offer physical, emotional and intellectual support. In active learning settings, adults expand children’s thinking with diverse materials and nurturing interactions.

Meet the Manager
Sandra L.
Manager
As Site Director, Sandra’s role is to create a safe, positive and enriched learning environment for the children in her care. She is devoted to the well being of everyone in her center — children, families and teachers. She develops and maintains strong relationships with the children and their families in her center.
Sandra has been in the Early Childhood Education field since 1998.
