History

Established in 2004.

Having been an Journeyman Electrician for 6 years after working in the electrical field for 4 years previous, I learned such a vast amount while working through out the Bay Are. It is such an exciting time to be a part of the electrical field. With such opportunity to apply my own ideas and knowledge towards my own company, I felt I had to start Douglas Doherty Electric. Now within the past 6 years, we have been installing renewable energy solutions within the Bay Area at an increasing rate each year.

I started in the electrical field over ten years ago and can say I truly love what I do. From investigating and figuring out an electrical mystery iinstallation to designing the lighting in a custom home to energizing an entire commercial building, I have been fortunate enough to be apart of a wide variety of projects. Solar projects have been our main focus as of this year, and we hope to expand our services through out the entire Bay Area.

After coming home from a walk and finding my lights flickering and all my major appliances beeping and flickering, I called Doug frantically. I was very scared of what was happening in my home. He calmed me down and advised me what to do until he or one of his guys could come out. He explained he was in the middle of a job and not sure when he could arrive.
However, he offered to make a few calls, rearrange a few things and with in an hour had someone here to check. Turns out it was a PG and E problem. My electric was turned off until they came and I was told to call when I heard from the power company, no matter what time.
Danny returned later, even though it was his sons birthday to ensure that everything was ok and working. Doug and his crew went above and beyond because he is not only a professional but cared enough because he knew I was afraid. That is what I call customer service!

I had Doug’s team install a new circuit breaker, wiring and outlet for an over-​the-​range microwave hood. He was able to accommodate my rushed timeline with ease and reassured me that the project would be done right and on time. The service I received was very professional — this guy runs a top notch show. The job was meticulously clean — they were very careful with my new bamboo floor — and he made sure to clean up any dust or debris before wrapping up the job. I will definitely call this guy again for any electrical work. Flawless

I called Doug to check out a short in my bathroom. He was prompt, and quick, and explained what he was doing. I decided to have him come back to replace two exhaust fans that were past their «sell by date» in my laundry closet and bathroom.
Again, Doug was prompt, professional and quick. He was even fine with my oh-​so-​inquisitive cat who wanted to keep «helping» him!
His pricing was reasonable and he did a great job.
I will definitely call him again for any electrical issues I have.

This is my first review for Doug, but he has performed several jobs for us over the past few years. His professionalism, thoroughness, knowledge and fair pricing is the reason that he is the only person we call for electrical work.
As we slowly remodel our house room by room, Doug’s has handled the associated electrical changes. This has included installing new lights, ceiling fans and he handled the electrical on a complete remodel of our master bedroom and bathroom. He was also there for us when we installed a hot tub and b-​b-​q island.
Yesterday he came out to install some track lighting and another ceiling fan in an upstairs bedroom. As usual, he was prompt and cleaned-​up after himself.
I highly recommend Douglas Dhoerty Electric & Solar for any electrical work that you need. As I indicated above, he handles jobs large and small. He coordiantes well with other contractors when you have a big job and he has been helpful in offering lighting desing suggestions when we had a problem, but were not quite sure what we needed.

I’ve used Doug several times both for minor electrical repairs and to replace all the aluminum wiring in my house with copper. He always does a great job and takes pride in his work.
When I used him a few years ago, he was sometimes hard to get hold of because he had so much work. I think he’s more available now due to the recession. I still call him whenever I need electrical work.

Doug and his team have worked on my house on four separate jobs. He has performed major installation work, such as adding sub-​panels and recessed lighting, as well as minor work, such as adding electrical outlets. He has provided full, turn-​key service, including drawning up plans and designs and securing permits. He and his employees have been professional, friendly, timely, and clean!
