DLS’s learning specialists support children and adults in the process of learning. We offer Educational Therapy, expert tutoring, educational and psychoeducational assessments, classes, and professional training. Support for learning differences including processing disorders, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, written expression, executive functioning, organizational skills, academic coaching, and more. History

Established in 1993.

Since 1993, DLS has helped thousands of children and adults, providing individual educational therapy services, tutoring, adapted technology training and comprehensive learning and psychoeducational assessments. We also offer school placements, instructional design services, specially trained aides, directed studies for credit recovery, study hall and life skills coaching. Offices in San Jose and Santa Cruz.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

John R. Fleming founded DLS in 1993 after extensive work with students and adults with learning differences. He was Coordinator of the Cognitive Development Program at the Reading Center of George Washington University, and helped develop the Educational Therapy certificate program at University of California-​Santa Cruz Extension Program. He has taught at UC/​Santa Cruz Extension, UC/​Berkeley Extension, and George Washington University.

In his role as director of DLS, he oversees a staff of more than two dozen learning professionals in San Jose and Santa Cruz. He also provides direct consultation, therapy and in-​depth professional training; he serves as an advisor and board member to schools who serve students with learning differences.
