Coba Tailoring & Dry Cleaning

I’ve been coming here for years. They’ve altered suits, hemmed pants, fixed rips and tears, dry cleaned all sorts of garments, and I’ve been happy every time. The owners are super friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend if you need either alterations or dry cleaning.

First of all, dont count on their check-​in offer of 20% off because it doesnt exist. They just want to get customers. They charged me twice for my dress that they altered because it didnt fit me when i tried it on. To think that they made measurements before working with it. I was charged $ 100 for alteration. Should have bought a new dress! Not a happy customer at all.

Their workers are professional and know what they are doing but they don’t work on the clothes there. They transport it somewhere else which increases the chances of your clothing becoming missing or damaged.

Extremely unhappy with my friend and I’s prom dress tailoring quotes. My friend needed her dress hemmed and steamed and the man helping us requested $ 90 and said that he was being very generous already when I brought up the 20% off discount from Unilocal.I just had to get the strap taken in and a pleat added into the bodice and the quote was $ 60. We went to another tailor because the prices seemed too outlandish and my friend’s new quote is $ 60 and mine is $ 50 because she is also taking the waist in for me which seems like a reasonable price. Way too expensive and I expected it to be cheaper since the other Unilocal reviews raved about how inexpensive this place was. Will not be going here again.

My dry cleaning was done as quoted. When asking about the 20% off discount for first time customers, the gentleman helping me stated that you must print out the Unilocal check-​in offer (how do you do that, exactly?) and bring it in at time of drop off, which I thought was baloney since it said nothing of the sort on the fine print. I mentioned that and he gave in and still allowed me to receive the discount but he was obviously not thrilled. –_​_​– not the best first impression for me here, but the dry cleaning was acceptable and none of my items were missing, so 3 stars.

The employees were very helpful when I came in for the very first time to hem my dress pants. They had me pin my pants to the length I wanted and suggested other lengths that they thought would be best but didn’t discourage the original length I wanted. My pants took a week to finish and they said they’d be ready at anytime of the day I had for pick up. I’d definitely come back again for more alternations.

I’ve had mostly my dresses and a few other clothing items altered here. Nothing too fancy, just hemming because I’m too short to fit into my clothing. Their prices are pretty expensive in my opinion. It cost me $ 15 to hem a dress. It takes about a week to finish it as well, or else they’ll charge you extra for a rush fee. Overall they do an OK job.

I like this place because I’ve taken my dry cleaning here many times, and they know me! They’re friendly and makes me almost feel like this is a neighborhood dry cleaning spot.
They generally do an excellent job with the cleaning and pressing. They’re usually timely as well, only once were they not timely and my items were not done, and once they «mysteriously lost» but found my item after a tailoring.
I have also taken things here to get them fixed on a number of occasions, and hemming as well and they’ve always been pretty good about it.
Cash only under $ 10!

I had them clean my wedding dress and am thoroughly impressed.
The charge was $ 80 and they gave me a nice hanger & cover. They took great care of my dress and completed the cleaning on time.

I had some jeans and other pants hemmed for a visit to New York City. Quality was good. Service was quick and efficient.

This place is awful they messed up my favorite dress! Now I go to Kathy’s in McCarthy ranch! Thumbs down on this place.

The first time I went here I took my work casual clothes to get cleaned. Nothing special-​some pants and some shirts to be cleaned. I old them no crease on the pants. My clothes weren’t necessarily soiled, just needed to get cleaned. Not only did they put creases in the pants that I told them not to, but they didn’t even apologize for the mistake! I tried to talk to the owner but kept brushing me away. Seems like the entire shopping center is on it’s way down. Too bad.

I had 3 bikini swim suits altered here. Best idea I have ever had! 5 stars!

I decided to try this place out because it was conveniently located near Safeway and home. I would give this place a big fat NEGATIVE star if I could.
My bf wanted me to drop off 2 of his dress shirts for dry cleaning before he takes off on his trip. I’m always looking to try new places and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Boy was I wrong to choose this place. I had dropped of the shirts shortly after 5pm on a Thursday. The little old lady helping me said she’s going to have to charge me extra if I wanted to pick it up on Friday evening. I was like ok that’s fine since my boyfriend was leaving town Saturday night and I wanted to make sure I got his shirts before he leaves town. Well I wasn’t able to pick it up Friday even though I paid for the extra «express» service and I ended coming in Saturday afternoon.
I went in, picked up the shirts, glanced at it, and drove home. As I was taking the shirts off the hanger at home I realized one of the shirts wasn’t even his! So I drove back and I was pretty upset but I was like. Hey, I should have checked more thoroughly as I was there. When I got there, I told the younger woman that she gave me the wrong shirt. I brought both shirts back to show her because the 2 shirts I brought in was the same Express dress shirt and the only difference is one is charcoal and the other is black. The shirt she gave me was slightly similar style but black, worn, and it was from GAP. She kept insisting that the GAP shirt was what I brought in. I was getting so heated because I know what I brought in. I told her my bf doesn’t shop at GAP and why would I even bring a dull, worn shirt in for dry cleaning. She kept telling me to call my bf and ask him if it was his shirt. Gosh lady, its not his damn shirt!
We exchanged a few words and finally she was like I’ll call you on Monday and in the mean time you can take that black shirt (the GAP one) to wear. WTF?! I told her what kind of business is she running telling me I can take someone else’s shirt to wear in the mean time??? And if she really want me to take it, I’ll throw it in the garbage can and when whoever comes looking for it she can tell them she gave it away and I threw it in the trash!
It’s been 3 weeks now. I haven’t even gotten a single call. My bf said just let it go its just a shirt. To me, that’s not the point. Its like, how can they run a business like that? The sad part was, my bf just bought that shirt and he only wore it once! So much for that. I hope everyone thinks twice before giving this place a shot. This was my worst experience with dry cleaners ever…

Coupons are available on their website. The woman who took care of my jeans was a sweetheart and reminded me of my own great aunt. She was able to finish both of my pairs of pants within a day. My jeans look great and I will definitely be back!

«Please! Can you press a dress in a hurry?»
They said… no. But we pushed a little and they eventually said okay, bring it in. But when we asked what time it’d be ready, they gave a time that was too late. When we pressed them a little more, they finally said, okay, we’ll get it to you same day.
I definitely recommend this place to press something totally last minute for the mere fee of $ 10. Thanks for taking out the giant wrinkles caused by lousy airport security and unsympathetic airlines (cough, Southwest).

If you live in the Berryessa/​Capitol area, this is a great cleaner to go to! I took 5 jeans to be altered and my Yao Ming jersey to be cleaned and they did a great job! My jersey had a gum stain/​spot on it from the dryer and you can kinda feel where the gum used to be but the spot./stain is completely gone! I’m so happy cause the gum appeared the first time I ever washed my jersey. I only got to wear it once but now I get to wear it for tomorrow night’s game!
The new hem on my jeans are perfectly even and touch just at the floor where I wanted them to. The nice lady at the cleaner pinned the hem for me in shop. I’m not sure about my boyfriends jeans yet as he’s not home but, I hope they’re good cause I pinned the hem myself one night and just took them in while he was at work. I’m short and he always buys his jeans 2 inches to long cause he says his size is hard to find. LoL
Anyway, good service — the lady was nice and then today, the younger guy at the register was nice!
The hems were 8 $ each and the stain/​gum removal was 4 $… totally worth it cause it saved my Yao jersey! I’ll be going back there with all our alterations and cleaning needs.
My only suggestion is to go before 5 pm if you can. The cleaner is right beside Safeway Grocery and Bay Leaf Indian restaurant (yummy) so the traffic and parking can be a bit difficult after everyone gets outta work.

I just moved back to San Jose after 12 years of living in SF, so it’s kind of like having to rediscover the area. I looked to ‘yelp’ to aid me in finding a decent dry cleaner that I could trust, so that’s how I came across Coba’s.
I had a skirt that had some stains on it that I needed taken out, and eventhough the first time I came to pick it up, the stains were still on the skirt, they more than willingly kept it for another couple days to give it another treatment. When I came to pick it up the second time, I couldn’t even tell where the original stains had been.
The people that run it are really nice, and the prices are decent, but it’s not exactly a convenient location for me, so I’m still hoping I’ll find that diamond gem dry cleaners somewhere closer to my neck of the woods.
