Been coming here since I was little. This place is health wise, so bad for you. It hurts so good though!!! They have bomb ass burgers. I usually get the steak burgers. I’ll be honest, I don’t come here often anymore as it’s super«unhealthy» but this is a guilty pleasure. Their steak burgers with bbq sauce mixed with mayonnaise is amazing. The fries are super greasy but that’s what makes them so good. Now that they have new owners they have new stuff on the menu. They also have a new actual hard menu. If you are looking to grub out on some yummy greasy ass food, this is the place to be!

Dear Burger Bar: You’re always there when I need a sack full of burgers. You’re always there to comfort me with greasy deliciousness. You’re fast, not that expensive and fun.

I’ll give this place 3 stars for an average cheese burger and the fry’s are good, I just need some feed back from the Unilocal audience. This is my dilemma, the guy who took my order and cash was wearing these blue morgue looking gloves, a few minutes later he was making burger’s and I’m not sure if he went through the trouble of changing his tight fitting gloves after handling cash. I’ll gladly up this grade pending some viewer feed back. I felt a little better noticing the green pass sign posted by the food inspectors up front. Are they wearing the same gloves on while handling cash and FOOD?

Been coming here for a very long time. Never a disappointment. The BBQ Steak Sandwich, chili cheese fries and Taco’s always hit the spot! Recently they have added a few new items to the menu, including Carne Asada Fries, and a few new burgers. Which are awesome! If your ever in the mood for some great food I highly recommend you stop by and try it out.

Burger bar is a beautiful thing, if you drank your dinner earlier. Open until 11PM on Saturday( Unilocal is wrong). Grilled cheese is awesome, as are nacho fries, but probably only if you have been drinking. I do not care for the bbq burger, personally but it’s a biq square burger on a ciabatta with cheese melted into it and coated with a tangy sauce. Nothing wrong with it but I felt confused, should have been actual ribs under that sauce, not ground beef. If you are sober and more towards downtown Go to La Victoria less greasy yet also very tasty. I don’t know if affiliated, but you can buy La Vic’s infamous orange sauce here says a sign. Quite a bit of ‘skin for hire’ at this corner on Saturday night.

5 burgers for $ 5.99. My fiancé took me here for lunch bc we were craving bad for you burgers. This takes it to a new level. Bit into one of the 5 burgers and bit a rock. Fun. Lesson learned, don’t eat here.

Good bacon cheeseburgers(not amazing, just good). One burger and an order of onion rings was enough to fill me up. The onion ring order is small but very good. Sketchy neighborhood! If you visit them at night, drive!

BURGERBARISAMAZING. This place is a total dive. When you come here, what you are ordering is a bag of oily, greasy fries which cannot stand under their own power, and a bag of five hamburgers. Then, YOUTAKETHESEINGREDIENTSHOME. At home, you spruce up your hamburgers with lettuce, tomato and whatever else you can think of you’d like on your hamburger, all from your own refrigerator. Complaints about the staff… these complaints are coming from bleached-out hipsters who aren’t really aware of where they are. Show a little respect, these people slave in that kitchen for your burg’s. Love, LOVE this place. Tons of authentic character and history. Would eat here three times a week if I lived closer, just for those awful french fries.

My boyfriend and I went here for a quick bite to eat in the place of Mcdonald’s around 8 in the evening. I saw this place on the Facebook group, «You Know You’re From San Jose When …» so thought the burgers were going to be simply amazing since the etablishment has lasted so long. Oh boy was I wrong! The burger meat was questionable(frozen?) and the french fries were floppy and oily. My boyfriend couldn’t even finish his burger after calling it, ‘whore food’, which of course made me lose my appetite. One star for the friendly cashier! The rest bites …

The food is decent & very reasonably priced, but is not worth the moody, rude short-tempered staff. We waited 28 minutes for 3 burgers, 2 fries & an order of chicken nuggets. We were #38 on the sales tickets. Number 44 ordered well after we did and got his food, which was a much bigger order than ours, about 6 – 7 minutes before we got ours. We’ve been coming for years, at least 25 I can remember, but will not be coming back for a long, LONG time. Hopefully they can do something about the crabby turd in the order window(I’m thinking experiences like mine are why they don’t wear name tags).

Cheap burgers. Reminds me of 50 cent hamburgers from McDonalds back in the day. Don’t expect a huge burger for $ 1.85, but quantity is what you’re getting here! Great for grabbing some grub while landscaping or gaming. Grab 5 burgers for $ 6, nice deal! Just be sure to get some greasy fries to help fill you up.

Only giving this place 4 stars instead of 3 because I want more people to go here. Went in last night and the place was cool to me, since I like supporting small mom n pops type businesses. For the price it is decent, not the cleanest tables outside but hey I’m there for a pick up and pig out in the car session. If you’re in an unfortunate situation where you do not have a stable roof over your head, homeless, then this place would be great if you can get $ 6 a day because the 5 burgers for $ 5.99 has a lot more bun than meat which is good for financially struggling people. The large fries are $ 3.19, with the 5 for 5.99 my total was 9.98, which wasn’t bad because it fills you up.

I first found out about this location when the Bike Party of San Jose came to refuel. The second and most significant visit occurred when I was biking with a couple of friends. Remembering about the delicious onion fries, I had to have some burgers! I got the reasonably priced number 2 meal. The burgers are great and the fries are decent. I love this little burger stop and will come here when I come downtown! Sure this neighborhood is pretty sketchy but c’mon us suburban kids gotta get some yummy grub that sticks to the ribs! I’m tired of rice… haha! Great Food!

Cheap calories. Incredibly affordable and incredibly mediocre. I thought there would be some kind of sentimental value to it since it feels like it’s been a neighborhood establishment for years, but it wasn’t enough to really help the food taste better. The burger was pretty OK — light on meat(and I even ‘upgraded’ to the ¼ pound, I can’t imagine how tiny the regular burger must be), bacon was pretty good — but the fries were really unimaginative filler calories. I feel like if they got some really friendly staff and spruced the place up a little bit, it could have a great ‘classic’ burger joint feel(imagine Johnny Rockets, but authentic) but the food was just OK, it felt worn down, and any charm couldn’t make up for an otherwise pretty adequate experience.

Last night, I went out with a very good friend of mine and she recommended we go here for dinner. I have driven past it countless times, and never really had a reason actually stop here for a bite. My close friend recommended I try the bacon cheeseburger. The customer service was nice and quick at ordering. The food came out fairly quick too. The size of the burger looked small and like another bacon burger. I then took my first bite, and found myself really enjoying it! It was very fresh, yet greasy. The price was right, and the service was quick. The place is a hole in the wall, that is for sure. The seating is stools with umbrellas, and the location is a busy intersection. The food made me forget all of that though, which says a lot! I STRONGLY recommend this place for burger lovers like myself! I will be back to this hidden gem!

Hungry? Want to watch what you spend? Craving some burgers, hot dogs, or a milkshake? In downtown area? Burger Bar is THE place to satisfy hunger at a very affordable price and the plus side: it’s actually very good! This has been on my bookmarks forever but for some reason it took me over a year to come but the saying, «It’s never too late» holds very true because now if I want 5 burgers for $ 5.99, I can come here. This isn’t your typical restaurant or hole in the wall as there are no seatings except for the 4 – 5 dirty tables in the cold or sun overlooking the dirty side of South First Street; cars driving by will make you wish you ate in your car. Service isn’t really fast but maybe it was because there were hella people when we were there. What I ordered: — bacon cheeseburger and a small order of fries for thy daughter — BBQ steak sandwich combo meal(a small drink and small fries) for myself — a grilled cheese sandwich for thy monster The fries were very greasy and they were huge for being a small size. I can do w/o the fries if I come back. The BBQ sandwich is tasty however, there was more bread than the meat and BBQ sauce so I am defintely going to pass on that next time, too. The grilled cheese sandwich is standard. My daughter enjoyed her bacon cheeseburger very much. I did not get a chance to taste it because she actually finished it but it looked juicy and packed for the price you pay. Tip: — skip the fries — skip the BBQ sandwich — eat at your car(we ate whilst sitting on my trunk) — don’t forget to look above because I did not see the chicken nuggets for $ 2.99 One of the best meal I had for under $ 13.00. BTW– Sharks are 7 – 0!!! I love Logan Couture and I love Ryane Clowe.

I was feeling naughty and wanted some junk food. I found Burger Bar on Unilocal and decided to try it out. This is an old timey hamburger stand south of downtown. There is only outdoor seating, a smallish menu, and it’s cheap. This is a great alternative to your typical fast food options. The menu is mostly burgers like the name suggests. Hamburgers are $ 1.25 and cheeseburgers $ 1.35. You can get a bag of 5 hamburgers for $ 5.95, that’s a deal. The burgers aren’t huge but they’re decent. I’d say they’re the equivalent of a «value» burger at the fast food places. I tried the cheeseburger, BBQ steak sandwich, onion rings, fries and fried chicken. First, the chicken. ½ fried chicken is $ 5.99. It’s a ½ chicken and a good portion. It’s a «meal» which isn’t explained on the menu. It comes with garlic bread and fries. It takes 15 minutes to prepare. The chicken was well cooked but a bit bland. BBQ Steak — this is kind of like a beef McRib. The meat was half the size of the bun. It tasted ok, but was kind of a waste in my opinion Onion Rings — delicious. Get them Fries — kinda limp and soggy. They reminded me of In-n-Out which I don’t like. I’d skip them. Cheeseburger — very good. I think it had relish on it which made it excellent. I would stick to the burgers next time. There are some other menu items that sounded ok and seemed right in line with this place. Overall, the prices are reasonable and the food is good. I would definitely return for burgers and rings, but probably not anything else.
