Bolt Design Studio

We used Bolt Design Studio to do the entire construction drawings of our new 2-​story house. Here is my feedback:
— Work was excellent, very little red-​lined items by the building department when we submitted the plans.
— Fairly priced, as others have indicated.
— Flexible and easy to interact with.
Provided that you know a bit about plans and constructions, our experience with Bolt Design Studio was perfect.
As a side benefit, we also appreciated the recommendations provided for other services such as structural engineering, title 24, hvac design, etc.

Good quality of service, workmanship and competitive prices.

I’ve worked with Bolt Design (Nadya) three times now, and my experience is between mixed and positive. 3.5 — 4 stars. It frustrates me a bit because the negatives (see below) are easy fixes — if fixed, Nadya would be an easy 5 star.
Note that Nadya isn’t a fully accredited architect — thus her prices are significantly lower. I’ve used her only to create construction documents, not to do a full design.
Pros:
* Great Value — Her prices were lower than others I checked with, and her work is good. In one instance, I used another architect for design and transferred to Nadya for the final construction docs, saving me quite a bit of money.
* Nadya is knowledgeable, and knows what she’s doing. I suspect there’s no quality sacrifice by going with Nadya. One city even commented that her plans were well done.
* She’ll update the plans until he city approves, as part of her pricing.
Cons — there’s only one:
* Communication. It’s very difficult to get a hold of Nadya, either by phone or email. Getting project status and updates is often difficult — which is very stressful when you have a house sitting and waiting for remodel. One example is she was sick for a week, but I didn’t find out until afterwards — so my project was delayed over a week.
Nadya is awesome, she really is. If you’re not in a hurry, by all means, use her. If she’s able to improve her communication, then as I mentioned, easy 5-​star outfit.
