I don’t know if it was the Bacon Festival that made me write this skewed review, but I waited a whole hour in the hot sun and paid $ 20 for 2 halves of a bahn mi and 2 tacos! Outrageous! And they don’t take credit cards so I was so lucky I grabbed a $ 20 off my shelf before I left that morning otherwise I would have wasted an hour of my life. I was disappointed with the portions. $ 5 for half a sandwich?! I’ve gotten a whole foot long bahn mi before for $ 3.25! I guess it was because it was shrimp. Overall, it was alright. Bread wasn’t the freshest, but it was okay. Only like 3 pieces of okay shrimp and it was all drowned in their mayo based sauce. I’ll give them the benefit of doubt since Bacon Festival was crazy busy, but I was just satisfied with what I got. I’ll have to give it another shot on another day to be fair.

I saw this food truck at the SJ Night Market and thought their menu looked delicious so I had to order something. My cousins and I decided on the Big Shrimp’n Fries, which is basically garlicky curly fries with shrimp on top with a drizzle of a spicy mayo sauce. I thought the fries were delicious though a little on the saltier side. They were garlicky and crispy. The shrimp were small but they were juicy and almost perfectly done. I wished there were a little more shrimp for the price of $ 9. But I was very satisfied with the food. The spicy mayo that was drizzled on top of the fries were really good. I think the only thing I have to complain about is the wait. When we got there, there weren’t many customers in front of us, but it took so long for them to take our orders. And then once our order was placed, it took awhile for the food to come out. I guess on a positive note, it means that they’re making the food as the order is placed. But I feel like if they had a lot of customers, it would take forever for the food to be ready. I did like the food though. So I wouldn’t mind coming back for their shrimp banh mi or their shrimp tacos.

I am super impressed with this truck. It actually excited my taste buds! I had the Crawdaddy Shrimp, which were full shrimp(head & shell on), fried cajun style with a great seasoning. So flavorful. I wasn’t expecting so much flavor from a food truck. Most food trucks seem to just make some pretty simple stuff because of their limitations, which doesn’t help in the flavor department. All this shrimp was great because, unlike nearly all the other food trucks, it wasn’t mostly starchy filler(pasta, rice, or bread). It was all shrimpy goodness! This is a truck I would actually be willing to seek out. _______ note: I’ve never been able to eat at «The Boiling Crab» because the waits there are just ridiculous.

Had the big shrimpn’ fries. For $ 9 it’s a TON of fries and not a whole lot of shrimp. Still, it was tasty. Think seasoned curly fries, grilled shrimp, and some sriracha mayo type sauce. Couldn’t finish all the fries, and even now I’m feeling quite heavy and lethargic. Service was friendly. You can get an assortment of beverages like soda, coconut juice, gatorade, and even a bag of shrimp chips.

I really had high hopes for this place since people were posting yummy looking pix of their banh mi, but when I actually ordered one, the shrimp was flavorless and the sandwich was meh. Definitely not worth the money you pay for. So about a year later I thought I’d give them another try so I ordered their Po’ Boy… again was pretty meh(not to mention WAY too much cabbage and daikon) and not worth the $ 9. So in short, definitely not worth your money, and oh yeah, you would think that they would serve rice(or SOMETHING?) with their cajun shrimp, but nope, you just get a cardboard carton of shrimp… So I’m closing the book on this place… and now still patiently waiting for a Giovanni’s style shrimp truck.

Went to MVBL Willow Glen with a pescetarian friend recently and settled on Bigg Shrimp’n. Of the items we tried, the fried shrimp was the bigg winner. Large pieces of shrimp that were perfectly breaded and fried, with little citrusy bits of fruit embedded within for an extra kick. Really not bad for $ 8. The Bigg Shrimp’n and Fries, meanwhile, was less satisfying. A super-large portion of garlic fries, to be sure, but there seemed to be a piddling amount of shrimp. Not enough to justify $ 9 price. And did I mention the garlic? For me, it was absolutely overwhelming, so much so that I downed my bottle of soda in one gulp, swallowed a whole cupcake next, and then still felt thirsty and garlicky after chugging two large glasses of beer later in the evening. Perhaps the banh mi is better, but after this one mixed experience, I’d definitely advise steering yourself towards their higher-seafood-content menu items. And some good, strong drinks and breath mints afterwards.

You know I have to admit my last experience with Bigg Shrimp’n left me wanting more… my first review I gave them 5 stars, their food was amazing and full of flavor. I can’t say my most recent experience was the same, I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Banh Mi and than their Butterfly Shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce. I have to say the best part of that meal was the Butterfly Shrimp and the Sweet Chili Sauce. I hate to imply this though but I almost think it was pre-battered shrimp and pre-made Sweet Chili Sauce out of a bottle maybe doctor’ed up. The Grilled Shrimp Banh Me, which although seemed bigger than I remembered it, just seemed to lack flavor. The sauce that they put on top of it didn’t even seem to pack a flavor punch to it. It left me wishing I would have ordered more Butterfly Shrimp instead and skipped the sandwich. O’well, maybe they were having an off day. I still remember their Bigg Shirmp’n Fries being the bomb, hopefully, they didn’t change anything there!

I would spend some cheese at Bigg Shrimp’n next time I saw them, for sure! Their shrimp with fries is absolutely killer… It’s a really good thing for my waistline that they are able to drive away from me! The sauce is spicy and rich, the curly fries are absolutely perfect, and the shrimp is magical. And I’m not usually a big shrimp(n) fan! I have only rave reviews for Bigg Shrimp’n… although my fiancé encountered some wildly unpleasant spicy garlic bites in his half of the fries. More for me next time?

what caught my eye about this truck was the photograph of the shrimp tacos on the exterior of the truck. these looked delicious, and i decided to order them. for $ 7, i got two medium sized tacos, with lots of grilled shrimp and veggies. i also requested«mild» sauce for the tacos. while the shrimp was fresh and tasty, and absolutely delicious, the sauce unfortunately killed it for me. i was expecting something mild, but instead, got something that was medium to fiery hot. it was only after taking a few bites that the spice just became overwhelming for me, so i ended up just eating all of the shrimp, and leaving the veggies and tortilla(the parts that sapped up most of the dressing). if i return, i will request the shrimp tacos with no spice. or, maybe i’ll just ask for the shrimp on the side, b/c that alone is worth coming back for.

My boyfriend and I have been hitting up the food truck mafia in Union City almost every Tuesday night. And every time we go to the Bigg Shrimp’n Truck. All I have to say is this place is amazing! The guys are wonderful and are the nicest. The price is not that bad and the atmosphere of the Food trucks is fun. Music and tables. You cannot go wrong. The shrimp tacos are so yummy, I keep going back for more. I highly recommend this food truck to everyone!

YAY! So happy that I tried them out last night in Union City. I had seen them a few times, but always ended up going to MoGo. Last night MoGo wasn’t there, so I finally gave in and tried them. I asked how the Grilled Shrimp Bahn Mi sandwich was and the guy said it was delicious, and that if I ordered it, I wouldn’t be disappointed and I sure wasn’t! The shrimp was delicious, cooked perfectly and the veggies were crunchy and sweet. The sauce paired perfectly with the shrimp and the hint of jalapeño was great! The baguette was nice and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Honestly my mouth is watering right now thinking about it. I don’t know if I can wait until next Thursday to get another sandwich. They also have a bunch of other Shrimp items that look amazing! Coconut shrimp, shrimp tacos, shrimp fries(yeah they look good!). I love this whole food truck craze, it is giving me the opportunity to try foods I wouldn’t normally try. Also, they are reasonably priced. My sandwich, which was huge was only $ 8. Compared to other trucks, that is reasonable.

4 stars because the order was not for me but for my Daughter. Great service! My Daughter enjoyed the shrimps very much. I’m assuming they have different coating depending on the day because the guy mentioned, «today we have coconut» for the breading(coating). The order took some time as well but hey, the damn shrimps needed to be breaded then deep fried(the wait was much shorter than Grill Stars). This truck also have a variety of dipping sauce. Because this is for my Daughter, I opted for sweet and sour but according to her, it was good but a tad spicy. I’m not sure if the sauce was spicy or not but either ways. by the end of our little venture here, she finished off the order. A tad pricey in my eyes but it’s fried big ass shrimp from a truck!

Another Food Eats Adventure… We went to the Union City Street Eats and among the choices of trucks was Bigg Shrimp’n. I’ve heard great things about the Shrimp Banh Mi and I am a fan of Banh Mi so we got one of those. There special of the day was also the«po boy shrimp banh mi». We also opted for one of those as well as the crawdaddy shrimp. The Shrimp banh mi was pretty good… a little different taste from the traditional banh mi. The shrimp inside was plentiful, however, I am used to paying $ 4 for a sandwich where as these were $ 7. It was still good though. The«special» was good. but I think I prefer the normal shrimp banh mi. The po daddy was extra greasy and it was a lot heavier to eat. The crawdaddy shrimp were DELICIOUS and spicy(but the good kind of spicy). Also on the steep side, but shrimp is not cheap so I it is a decent price. The flavors are rather different too definitely worth a try at least once. My friend also ordered the fried shrimp and chips and oh boy… I probably could’ve done without the heaping amount sauce on it. The garlic fries were delicious and realllllllly garlicy. good at the time. but I definitely had garlic on my breath for awhile… Eat with caution. Overall It’s a pretty decent food truck especially if you are a shrimp lover this is the place to be.

Drove out to SJ from SF for the last day of their soft opening back in. July. I had the shrimp tacos, shrimp banh mi, and garlic fries. While the shrimp tacos and shrimp banh mi were good, they were exactly the same! The banh mi had extra veggies, but the sauce was exactly the same. Order one or the other, not both. Garlic fries were made from frozen. I wouldn’t drive out here to eat at this truck specifically, but if it were in a large pod then maybe I would pass through and order some shrimp tacos.

Get the shrimp tacos. Nothing else matters. The sweet pickle was the perfect touch to a Mexican tortilla and the saucy shrimps inside. The fried shrimp comes with only 4 pieces but they give you lots of fries. In addition, the people working here gave us free garlic fries just because. The sauce in their grilled shrimp items(tacos and sandwich) were delicious. The portions are good too. It’s pricey but the taste hits the spot.

Actually very good food. Probably the best that I’ve gotten from a truck so far. I got 4 shrimp tacos($ 3/taco) and an order of Garlic fries($ 3)… The tacos are pretty big and I was super full off of 2. My friends also enjoyed the tacos and the banh mi. Since I can’t eat wheat, I can only speak for the shrimp taco which was delicious! The fries were also very good. Not too garlic-y. The wait was a little long but I think they will get better with that since they’ve only been around for less then a week. Overall, the food it delicious. The shrimp tacos are awesome! So for $ 15 I was stuffed! The banh mi was $ 6 and I’m not too sure how much everything else was. HIghly suggest going before it gets way too popular and you have to wait in obnoxious lines.

WHOOHOO! A new taco truck :) My first experience with Bigg Shrimp’n Food Truck came today when they went into my office to let us know that they were going to park right outside. No problems here, I forgot to bring my lunch today. Their menu isn’t huge, but they don’t mess with things that work. They’ve got a yummy shrimp taco, Banh Mi(Vietnamese sandwich), Shrimp and chips, and garlic fries! And with nothing on the menu over $ 10, this food truck is easy on the wallet. I also loved their selection of snackables: including shrimp chips, Nagaraya(peanuts cooked in different sauces, they have the garlic variety which is one of my faves), and a selection of drinks. My coworker got the shrimp taco and the garlic fries, I got the Banh Mi and garlic fries and we were both very happy. The shrimp taco had a kick of Sriracha sauce and something else(I’m going to deem it the«Bigg Sauce») and the garlic fries were crispy and perfectly garlic-y. The Banh Mi is my favorite though – the bread they use was AMAZING. Not the hard baguettes, but a nice roll. And the best thing of all: our office now has a lovely garlic and shrimp smell that we can continue to enjoy for the rest of the day :)
