Great service! Definitely coming back for my next visit and recommending all my friends and relatives. Did an appointment, went there, filled out paperworks, did my eye exam with Dr. Huynh, picked my frames with Helen’s helped, paid and waited for 1 week (it was a weekend, so they couldn’t do my lens on the spot). The best part is that I had a hard time picking frames until I decided on 2 frames, 1 Ray-​ban and 1 Calvin Klein. Helen was so nice that she told me she could order a pair of Ray-​ban online with measurements that could fit my face. I waited for 1 week until my frames arrived and they called me. Went there and they fixed the frames one more time to fit my ears. Waited about 30 mins for the lens to be put on my frames and got my new glasses!

So I lost my glasses on a Saturday, and then began getting worried on Sunday when practically every optometry place was closed. Then I found BH Eye Care Optometry on Unilocal and was excited just to find something that was open. The place was great. The people were friendly and patient. The appointment itself was not short. However, because they have a lab on site I was able to leave that appointment with a new pair of glasses! I didn’t have to wait a week for glasses. I also decided to get contacts for the first time. Learning how to put on contacts for the first time is not easy, but they were patient and I got it!
They also had no problem working with my insurance.

Dr Huynh is such an amazing physician. He is really gentle and speaks very kindly. I feel really at ease with him because he’s so approachable. I had lots of questions and he was very informative. He takes his time while with me and I didn’t feel rushed at all like some offices. Such a great optometrist definitely recommend him to my friends.

Great place to get your new glasses! I spoke to Vinh on the phone and was able to make an appointment with ease. Dr. Huynh went the extra step to make sure my eyes are safe and is very easy to talk to. Any questions I had, he was more than happy to answer them.
Katherine and Vinh helped me pick my new pair of glasses. Their attention to detail is spectacular! They were very patient with me and took the extra time to make sure the glasses fit contour to my face.

Wonderful customer service! Katherine and Vinh helped me with patience and kindness from the minute I walked in the door. Vinh has incredible attention to detail, and I so appreciated that he took the time to get every aspect just right. Katherine is such a pleasure to work with, with a relaxed yet cheerful personality. My penny pinching ways have caught up to me… I failed my DMV eye exam and needed new glasses ASAP. Whats a gal to do? I googled «san jose 1 hour glasses». Voila! Unilocal had a list.
BH Eye was super nice on the phone. Set the appointment for that very morning. I was greeted by two lovely ladies with smiles. They were helpful, fun to chat with and knowledgeable. While waiting for the Doctor, we selected a few frames and had some laughs about life.
The Doctor mirrored everything I had experiance to that point. Nice, easy to talk to, understanding and the most critical factor in my eye care, «Detailed». He made me the BEST GLASSES I have ever worn in the 20 years of getting prescription glasses.
The lense is perfect, the numerous adjustments to the frames for that perfect fit is spot on and the relaxed vib that the overall office has just rocked my socks!
I love my new 1 hour glasses. I could not be more happy about my whole experience.

The optometrist was pretty thorough with my examination and was very helpful in explaining all my inquiries. Workers are friendly. One thing though… maybe lower the price on frame a little bit more lol… Overall — i would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Doctor Huynh and his staff were very friendly and generous, They worked efficiently and showed great hospitality towards me and my family. They used their time to help me adjust my glasses and help find the perfect glasses that were a perfect fit to my head. Most places wouldn’t do that. They have so many different brands for you to choose too. This place was amazing in everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Give them a 5 star and more.

I’m very prompt with my eye appointments yearly as I always need to renew my coke bottle glasses and contact lens prescription. Being an avid reader and a person that stares at a computer for 7+ hours daily for work, my eyesight is equivalent to that of a shark’s — pretty much almost blind, but I can smell food from a mile a away.
I have VSP as my insurance and I went in Unilocal to check out my options. Saw the great reviews here and decided to book an appointment.
I opted for both glasses and a contact lens examination since I wear both religiously — contacts during the day and glasses at night after 8 or so hours of wearing contacts.
Dr. Huynh was very thorough and careful with my examinations. He’s an expert at removing contacts! I was really scared when he was reaching towards my eyeball, but he was actually better at it than I was!
My vision is starting to stabilize, so Dr. Huynh said I could be a good candidate for lasik in 2 – 3 more years as long as there isn’t any more significant increases in my vision. He was informative and patient — he also gave me 40% for glasses since my insurance only covers either contact lens or glasses, not both — even though I opted for using my insurance to cover my contact lens. The staff also fills out a rebate form for you to get some money back after ordering contacts. They made this process painless and efficient!
If I still have VSP or insurance that is compatible with BH Optometry, I’m coming back next year.

Dr. Huynh is thorough, and deals with my overly talkative self. I felt comfortable because he knows his shizz. He also has cool eye gadget stuff.

Delivery time is speedy, and they’re very accommodating with mailing my contacts and they also do the rebate stuff for me.

Second time here and no one in the office mention anything about « Unilocal reivew» or feedback. Unlike another establishment I been to in the Berreyessa area of San Jose, They actually didn’t go out of the way to be super super friendly to gain good reviews.

I wish that they had disclosed that they were not part of my insurance’s group. I would have kept coming back for the glasses regardless, but I felt like they just wanted to get the eye exam regardless, so they’ve lost all of my business in the future unless they do something to remedy the situation.

I am giving three stars due to the very friendly woman who helped me selecting frames. She was always polite and cheerful even though I took a long time. Not that it is my fault that the frames are physically locked up so this sort of attention is unavoidable. Really, I would be more comfortable to do my trying on without the constant companionship of a sales rep. They should put up an alarm system like most shops have.
Other than the friendly saleslady I really don’t understand why this place is so highly rated by Unilocalers. I have always been able to use my VSP benefits to be able to get an inexpensive pair of glasses without paying much, if anything, out of pocket. Here, the cheapest frames cost $ 160, same for sunglass frames. Mind you, these are plastic and made in China. Really no better than readers or sunglasses that you can buy anywhere for under $ 20. I choose the cheapest frames and asked for the simplest of everything, except that I insisted on getting anti-​reflective coating. They came out to $ 131 out of pocket. VSP, she told me, doesn’t pay for anti-​reflective coating. I asked if they didn’t have a less expensive type, because I know there are different ones. No, they only used two, and this was the cheaper one. It was $ 71. All of Kaiser’s lenses include it for free. Now tell me how Kaiser can offer readers for $ 15 and they have AR coating? For the fifteen bucks you get a frame and lenses too, so Kaiser must be losing at least $ 65 on each pair they sell? No, it’s that private optometrists have a system of monopolized robbery going on. And let’s talk about the frames. Most of them were mid-​range designer labels around $ 300. Some of these brands can be found at Costco for around $ 120. Can you guess how much money goes into the materials for a frame? Answer: from under $ 1 to $ 10. Costco prices are honest, the brand name has to be paid for after all, but three to four hundred dollars is legalized robbery.
Granted, if you have a good job and understand that your glasses are the prime decoration of your persona, you won’t care about spending four or five hundred dollars out of pocket for a nice frame and progressive lenses. But it really is highway robbery. If you are in a more restricted socio-​economic position you rant like me and then go to Costco or Kaiser or even online. What I am disappointed with BH is that there really is no selection at all for those who don’t want to spend so much. VSP itself is a rip-​off if their $ 120 frames allowance won’t pay for anything at all. The quality of the low-​end frames at BH wasn’t any better than Foster and Grant readers.

This place is the best in the business.
The workers are very professional. They open 7 days a week and best of all, the eyeglass collection is fabulous, top notched.
I used to go to Focus Optometry, very good service, but quit because they did not have a good selection of frame available. I voiced the concern to them, and told them that while I did the exam there, I will do the glasses somewhere else because they did not have good selection of frames. I let them know that people nowadays have lots of choices for frames and lenses, not counting online or costco.
I went to eye to eye optometry with doctor Emily Truong on Aborn. What a terrible place. I wrote review for that place, and continued to move on to BH. I am very very happy with BH. Highly recommended !

I was a previous patient back in 2011 but visited infrequently because I went to UCD. Moved back home and needed an eye exam and new contacts and Dr. Huynh and his team took me back with open arms. Kudos to Vinh as he answered most of my questions and navigated me through this insurance nightmare. Between conversing with both of them during my appointment, we talked about the health field, music, life updates, etc. It was very easy to talk to them, and boy do Vinh and Dr. Huynh make a DYNAMIC DUO! Some of the ladies who work there may not seem so overwhelmingly friendly but that’s because the dynamic duo is so shiny. Regardless, the ladies are nice and if you did catch them on a bad day, I’d recommend coming in again to give them a second chance. They have a spacious office with many glass frames choices as well. I’ve had my fair share of interactions with health professionals from physicians, surgeons, dentists, to optometrists and also as an aspiring future physician, I can tell you that Dr. Huynh is a knowledgeable, empathetic optometrist of Grade A quality. After calling 2 previous optometrists I’ve been a client of to find out that they didn’t have any openings or taking any walk-​ins currently AND with the time to spend my flex money dwindling, I looked to my trusty buddy Unilocal!After reading the many glowing reviews, I decided to give this place a call on a Saturday to try and schedule a same day appointment.
«Sorry, we’re totally booked today. Saturday is typically the busiest day, but I’m happy to put you down for an appointment next week?»
So I made an appointment for Wednesday morning.
Wednesday morning rolled around and I went in, was greeted by the receptionist and handed paperwork to fill out (2 pages, front and back + a postcard reminder for your next appointment aka old school spam). I wasn’t sure if I was still covered under vision so I provided them with my last 4 digits of my SS and they were able to find out quickly that I sure was. I was scoping the place out while filling out my paperwork and they have a decent selection of frames.
I’ve been to Allen L Beede and Vision Insight Optometry in the Great Mall. And while they don’t have as big of a selection as Insight (just by a hair), they have a significantly greater amount than Allen Beede.
Dr. Huynh came out shortly after and guided me to the back. Walked me through everything he was doing and answered my numerous silly questions thoroughly. They don’t do the eye blow test anymore. You know, the one where you hold your eye open and revel in anticipation for that lovely gust of wind to puff into your eye? Instead, they now use an instrument with a blue light to test your eye pressure.
I also requested that the doc not dilate my eyes since I had to go into work shortly after and wouldn’t be able to read my screen for a few hours. He said that’s fine and that that cost is already included in my payment, so I should definitely make a follow-​up to do it when I have time just to make sure that there isn’t anything wrong that he might have missed. It’s really a screening for the health of your eyes, and allows the doc to see to the back of your eye better for dark spots, growths, etc. It felt like he actually cared about taking care of my eyes.
He explained that while my vision was slightly worse than before, I didn’t need jump to a full adjustment for my lenses. Therefore he gave me a slightly adjustment for each lens by half so that it would be an easier adjustment for my eyes to make.
After the exam was done, Vinh was able to help me pick out my frames. He took his time, figuring out what I liked, and gave me pointers and helped me find frames that I liked. I seriously must have walked back and forth like 10 TIMES! He also noted which frames were sponsored by my insurance, which makes them slightly cheaper, though I didn’t end up choosing them in the end. While sitting down for 20 mins cycling through the frames, he let me know that I was double covered through the wife as well and I could either combine the coverage and have it cover barely $ 15 more, or use them separately and get 10X that for another pair of glasses. Another pair of heavily discounted glasses? H*LL YES!
Did I already mention that Vinh was super patient and helped me figure out how to get the best possible deal with my insurances? Anyways, I picked 2 frames and still had enough in my flex to order some Warby Parkers online. It was a good day. :)

I was in need of a check up and found BH Eye Care Optometry thanks to Unilocal!The optometrist was really friendly and patient with me as he did my eye checkup. He was really informative and did a great job explaining each procedure and the condition of my eyes. He also suggested me places to eat around the area which was awesome.
They have a really big selection of high end brands here like Prada, Ray Bans, Fendi, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, etc. So much to choose from! I found the perfect pair of glasses here and I’m so glad I decided to come here. My glasses took only one week to be made which isn’t bad since I needed prisms for my lenses (weak eye muscles).
The only issue I had was when I called in to make an appointment and they had to delay my appointment by almost a week. They were having trouble verifying my VSP insurance and later realized that they had my name wrong the whole time. They thought my first name was «My» and last name was «Tien». Pretty funny to me. :)

You had to brace yourself a bit, and you were breathing nervously. It was probably bulging upwards, in a concave way. You may have made several clumsy attempts at positioning it right. And it was probably a bit slippery too. But finally, it popped right in! A moment of mind-​blowing clarity!
Like seeing the world from a whole new… lens.
Yes, get your mind out of the gutter. Such was my first attempt at contact lenses several years ago when I visited Dr. Huynh here at BH Eye Care. He was extremely patient with my concerns and, with his brother, who helps him run the shop and fit regular lenses onto customers, took lots of time to show me the ropes and answer my probing questions. I’ve been going back every year since for either contact lens refills or for regular lenses, and service continues to be patient, obliging, and caring.
Definitely my go-​to place for vision care, and I highly recommend Dr. Huynh… whether for newbies or experienced folk alike. ;)

Dr. Huynh and his staff is just superb! Since I had several plans — they advised me to used the best one to maximize my covered discounts!
My eye examination with Dr. Huynh was painless, quick and easy! I mentioned that I had a recent eye issue — and after further and careful examination and dilated my eyes — Dr. Huynh said my eyes look great and healthy! What a great relief!
I also want to note that BH Eye Care staff is just awesome! They helped me and my partner picked out just the right frames. We were biased with PRADA and they had a ton of selections. We were so lucky! They also have plenty of inventory and great selections of Armani which I really like, Ray Bans, Nike which is another one that I like for playing sports such as basketball, Fendi, Gucci, Calvin Klein and many other brand name frames.
I also want to mention that BH Optometry is so cool inside. It is very modern and so hip! Makes you «wanna» buy all the frames and wear one to match your outfits! I know for sure I will be back as I usually loose my sunglasses and glasses all together!
