Excellent service! I highly recommend them to anyone in need of this type of service. The cost was reasonable and they don’t nickle and dime you to death. Cost of everything was totally transparent (up front). They did a wonderful job on my mom and she looked just like herself. She appeared only to be sleeping. My family and I thank them from the bottom of our hearts. It was a difficult time for us and with everything going as smoothly as it did, it really reduced some of the stress.

When my husband was very sick and I knew he didn’t have much time left. I bought plot at Oak Hill Memorial Park. I went to Bay Area Mortuary to find out information about funeral service. First I met Andrew. He referred someone who resale plot at deep discount. With Andrew’s help, I was able to save 40% on plot. The deal is go good, that I bought two plots. The location of Bay Area Mortuary is very special for us, as my husband and I used to work there for 3 years. To bring my husband back to the place where he was familiar is my main reason to choose Bay Area Mortuary. Later I found out their highest rating on internet and unbeatable price. My family is totally satisfied with their service.
Later I met Aram, a big guy with a big heart. He answered all my questions. On the day of funeral, he made sure that I took a look at my husband first before letting others coming. That was so thoughtful. Jeannette did a beautiful makeup job for my husband. I used the words of makeup. Actually, I didn’t see makeup. My husband looked so good naturally, even with a little smile. That permanently replaced my last image of him before he passed away. It means a lot. Now I often look at the picture I took during funeral and feel that he doesn’t have pain and is happy and comfortable.
I certainly don’t look forward to using Bay Aare Mortuary Service again, but would definitely refer anyone. Their professional service and mint condition chapel would soften the hardship of your life time that you experience.

Let’s face it, not a single person wants to be put in the position of using a mortuary’s services, but at some point or another we all will have to. Unfortunately for my family that time came just recently. It has been a very difficult struggle, but there is nothing like having a little bit of weight lifted off your shoulders in a time of crisis, and that is exactly what Bay Area Mortuary did for us. I gave them a 5 out of 5 stars even though there was a small clerical error (which is being corrected), but if I could give our Arrangements Counselor a rating it would 10 STARS. Daniel Fok was the most helpful and supportive person. We really felt like we and our lost loved one were in good hands. Daniel’s customer service goes above and beyond. You can tell that this isn’t just a job to this man but a commitment to do what is right for the families and the deceased. I can’t tell you how pleased my mother and I were with doing business with Daniel. The day of my uncle’s passing, Bay Area Mortuary sent a gentleman named Jesse to pick up my uncle’s body, and he also was a very kind and understanding man. He was sympathetic and reassuring. He allowed us to say our final good byes, and as we left he made sure we knew that there would be no rush to come into the office to sign paperwork, and that we should take as long as we needed, and his last words to us were that he would take good care of my uncle, and for that we are extremely grateful. I would definitely recommend Bay Area Mortuary to anyone, especially for cremation services.

Daniel Mok did an excellent job with my grandma’s funeral. He helped our family plan the viewing which went smoothly, lent his car to my sister when she needed to run to the store to get a last minute item for the viewing and her car was blocked in, let us store flowers there for two days, helped make sure everyone knew exactly where they were going and proper funeral procession protocol, and helped with the burial. He coordinated with the cemetery and drove the Hearst, gave instructions to the pall bearers, and ensured everyone was a safe distance away when the grave was filled. My favorite thing about him was that he had a great balance of letting everyone say their goodbyes during the open casket but also staying professional and knowing when to cut people off and say no more because some of the family members were crying hysterically as they held onto the casket. Overall, he was a great rep of Bay Area Mortuary and was very respectful of the religious and cultural elements we chose to incorporate.

My family suffered the sudden passing of my brother recently. Not having navigated mortuary services and cremation before, I consulted Unilocal.My parents were extremely grief-​stricken and I wanted to make sure they were not only treated with compassion, but also not ripped off.
Well, this place gets it right with regards to cost. Everything else was below my expectations based on the other reviews.
I dealt with Dale. While I don’t expect him to cry rivers with me over the loss of my loved one, I did expect him to be less impersonal than he was. I know this industry isn’t the most cheerful, but he seemed a little annoyed by the few questions I asked and not very willing to help me through with what needed to be done. Follow-​up was ok. I had to call to make sure they received the paperwork I emailed to them and had to ask when they would receive my brother’s remains. I was expecting a little more of a basic rundown of how the process would play out. You would think once things were paid for that the service would improve noticeably, but it did not.
Dale isn’t a bad guy, just not very good with customer service. Definitely not the amazing experience other Unilocalers here have had here.
When my parents went to pick-​up my brother’s remains, they wanted to purchase an urn. They don’t recall who helped them, but it was an older guy. My parents had already paid for the cremation and only needed to buy the urn. He kept trying to add in the cremation cost on top of the urn cost. He was also devoid of personality. Imagine picking up your deceased child and having to go through a bunch of crap when all you want to do is take the remains home as quickly as possible. Sounded very unpleasant.
If you are looking for mortuary service or cremation, this place has great prices. But know that you may sacrifice service in exchange for that.
Would I use this place again? Yes, but I hope that I don’t have to any time soon because deaths suck.
Would I recommend this place to a friend? Yes, but with a disclaimer that they may not be as compassionate or empathetic as one might expect.

Our family has used Bay Area Mortuary ‘s services a few times now and I have to say it is so nice to know that our loved ones were in good hands. John and Lorna Sparrer are kind, professional and treat you like you are family. I would highly recommend their services. They make a difficult time a lot easier. Two years ago, I purchased a Pre-​Need for my father from Bay Area Mortuary. So when I made the call to John Sparrer at Bay Area Mortuary that my father had passed, the wheels immediately went into motion for everything to take place just as my father wanted. From the time I made the call to Bay Area Mortuary in the middle of the night, to the day of the service, we were treated with courtesy and professionalism. The Pre-​Need allowed me to tend to my family’s needs and not the details of planning a funeral, plus there was no wondering what my father would’ve wanted because he helped plan his own final arrangements. My family is grateful for Bay Area Mortuary’s quiet, respectful guidance, unending patience and generosity of time, care and attention to detail.

It’s hard to find the words to describe how pleased I was Bay Area Support Services when my mother passed away a short while ago. Everyone and I mean everyone was a total pleasure to deal with during such a difficult time.

My experience with my father’s sudden death was unimaginable and I don’t wish the suffering upon anybody. Aside from all the emotional trauma I had to deal with, there was the financial mess that was thrown onto my family’s lap. I also had to figure out how to transfer my father’s body from an expensive mortuary to a more affordable establishment that is flexible and willing to meet my needs. Yes, transferring AND receiving is MORE $$$$!!! :(
Enter John Sparrer, a wonderful class act of a gentleman that worked with me whenever I needed him. He has decades of experience working in the funeral business and can answer any questions you may have.
I spent quite a bit of time with him and got to learn about him and the business. He is a former policeman (you can still see it too … tall, clean cut, professional) that used to do the motorcades for memorial services. He was disgusted at how much people had to pay for funeral services and decided to go into the mortuary business. The rest is history, and I am glad to have him as a part of my family’s life. Oh, and he does P90X too haha.
He might be limited in some ways since it is a smaller mortuary, but he can cater to any basic funeral, especially when keeping your budget in mind. EVERYTHING is cheaper, both the services and products alike (casket, flowers, décor, etc.) The memorial hall is small, so if you need a larger service 100+ people, you can find a larger place elsewhere and Sparrer can work with you. NO RIDICULOUS FEES! That is the best part of Bay Area Mortuary.
Being an avid Unilocaler, I wanted to write about them months ago because I felt so thankful, but the last thing I wanted on my mind was writing about anything dealing with my father’s death. I am now moving on. Thank you John Sparrer and Bay Area Mortuary Services!
