Love the new library and community center. Collection is small but great at the library and the community center is very convenient for my sons during the summer. The only downside of this place is the parking! Bring your bike if you can.

If you’ve ever passed by a large two or three story building on Bascom Ave., then it’s probably the new community center and library that you’re looking at. The two buildings are separate places although they’re right next to each other. This library is very nice and modern looking inside. There is free wifi and computers with large screens for use there. Surprisingly, it was almost empty in the afternoon! The technology room is by the entrance and it has twelve high speed computers in it. It’s free to use for up to two hours with a library card. Also, there is printing and a copier there, but I’m not sure if that’s free to use or not. There is also a quiet room by the back to where a you can sit and listen to music or use your own laptop. The new arrivals are in the front and there is also a large area for kids and an area just for teenagers by the front. I think that area has a few computers inside. There are plenty of chairs & tables around the library as well .The bathroom there is big and very clean. There are a few lockers and a couple of showers in there too. One woman who told me that the bathroom was locked because of the showers was surprised when I told her that it’s not. I then opened the door for her. Lucky for me I was there at the right time! There is a water fountain by the bathroom, but the water is gross as it tastes like unfiltered tap water, so bring your own stuff. Another plus to this place is that there are a few trash cans around the area and a recycling bin. The selection of books isn’t bad, but the selection of books from some popular writers like Jackie Collins and Stephen King is virtually nonexistent for now. Also, the selection of C. D’s is limited for now as well. The selection for movies is decent though. There are a lot of foreign movies and books in a variety of different languages here too. The people here are nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking in the front. They’re closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Sunday. You can find plenty of resources here for help with looking for a job and other things for kids, teens, disabled people, and more by clicking the YOU section. Also, there is even a free domestic violence service available for the month of October. I’m not sure if that will only be available for this month only or twice every month. They offer 20 minutes of counseling and can offer referrals. Go to interests and then click on the community section. There are many more events and to choose from at this new library.
