Wanted to find another stylist within walking distance. The salon I had been going to was nice, just a bit high priced for what I need. I called on a Saturday afternoon, they had an opening that same day so I took it. I have shoulder length hair and 9+ weeks since my last cut. I badly needed help. George did exactly what I asked for, trimmed ½″ and shaped the layers, and the bangs were just the right length. He did a FANTASTIC job! He finished in a shorter time than I expected PLUS the reasonable price was a nice surprise. With the service like this, I don’t know why there aren’t more positive reviews. Unless it’s because Amy’s is an older salon. If that’s what holds you back, you’re missing out. Check out Amy’s Hair Salon on E. Taylor St., you’ll be glad you did!

I genuinely enjoy having Amy cut my hair. Not only does she do an absolutely fantastic job, but she also takes the time to wash and style it. She’s seriously about the nicest person you ever want to meet, she’s intelligent and well travelled so conversation is always a highlight. I’m very fond of Amy and will keep coming back to her as long as she’ll have me.

Ah the power of Unilocal! As I’ve moved offices recently I really had no idea where to go to get my hair cut. Jumped on Unilocal and saw great reviews for Amy, so took a chance and dropped in. Amy is a pleasure, and has been serving the community from her little shop for 35 years! She did a great job, and even offered to have me return for some touching up free of charge if I was less than satisfied. Great option for $ 17, I will be back!!!

So I am the type of person who is very hesitant with hair stylist because they usually never listen they just do what they want not caring about what you want. I came across Amy because I read all the good reviews about her and decided to give her try. I told her what I wanted. And she listened to me and let me just say I was not disappointed. She is super nice and cares about her customers. She found a new client with me. Her place is cute and very clean. GO to her you will not be disappointed with her.

I NEVER get haircuts because I normally just buzz my hair, however, I have decided to switch up my look and needed to find a place to do so. I stumbled upon Amy’s on Unilocal and was so happy I did. George cut my hair and did a great job of suggesting some cuts and upon the completion of my hair cut I was VERY satisfied. For $ 17, I got my hair cut, styled, and shampood. Im not from the San Jose area but would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is. They were so nice and helpful and it was definitely a great overall experience.

Amy is spectacular. My boyfriend and I were in the mood to get haircuts and we didn’t want to spend a lot. Thanks to the wonders of Unilocal,we stumbled upon Amy’s Beauty Salon. This place is a hidden gem! Amy is super nice and outgoing and the place is cute! My boyfriend got his hair cut from George(who also did a spectacular job) and Amy did an awesome job on mine. I didn’t do anything too crazy… I actually just need a trim and some relayering but my hair looks(and feels) great. I will definitely be back and I am planning on telling my friends. Did I mention my cut was only $ 17 bucks? For that price, I could definitely get my hair cut more often! Thank you Amy!

Amy has been cutting my hair every few weeks for 14 years, and does a great job. She does a short cut that is completely wash and wear because she feathers and sculpts it so well, and I am often complimented on it. Friends think I must go to a fancy salon in San Francisco, but Amy is my secret — and she only charges $ 17! I don’t have perms or other treatments myself, but took an elderly relative staying with me to Amy for weekly hairdos and hair color, and she loved Amy. Amy is also a fine art painter, and if asked will tell stories about her painting trips to Italy or on the California coast. And she is a great source to catch up on what’s going on in Japantown. You have to catch her Thurs-Saturday; those are the only days of the week she works. But other people use her two other hairdressers, who are there throughout the week, and seem to be satisfied. Amy’s is the best!
